I've been coming to this nail shop for over a year because Kelly does excellent work -- her nail art and application are consistently high quality, and I've always left happy with how my nails look. Unfortunately, the customer service has become increasingly poor, which is why I won't be returning. Prices have steadily increased over time, and when I've asked for breakdowns or explanations, I rarely get clear answers. For example, my last full set with a base color cost $100 (I even requested shorter length to help with the price). This time, I asked for a basic fill and was quoted $90 for the exact same service from the same tech. When I politely asked for a price breakdown, the shop owner (Kelly) simply said 'that's the price' and that I could pay it or she could do someone else's nails instead. I had messaged Kelly ahead of time to confirm pricing, but got no response. By the time I sat down, an assistant had already filed my nails, so I felt stuck with no real choice. On top of that, during the service, Kelly and a colleague spoke about me in their native language for much of the time, which made me very uncomfortable. While the quality of the nails themselves is great, the lack of transparency with pricing, dismissive attitude when questions are asked, and overall poor communication make the experience not worth it. I visited sns a few times now, but yesterday I came in with a group- a preteen, a senior and a few others. The facility is clean and comfortable everytime I've visited. Mary had done my nails- it was really fun to see her creative process and dedication to getting the effect I wanted. But what's more then that, my preteen Neice had wanted a design on really short nails, no tips, and I don't think I could have ever done it myself, each girl in the salon made sure to adapt her design, made her feel comfortable and excited, and the smile on my neices face at end of her service - all love. When you walk in the first person you see usually is the manager- Vivian. Where most times walking into a salon I've felt rushed - Vivian has always seemed calm, and wearing a real true smile, once seated, She comes over offering snacks and drinks, she seems interested in the designs you choose and determined to make sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying they're time. I had $76 pedicure at SNS salon mid April Had some lady who I never had before. She scraped my dry callus feet raw and open. I had to ask her to stop cause it hurt. She acted like she didn't understand me. Had sores immediately. Had to go to urgent care and they took smear from sores. I had staff infection and cellulitis. Followed up couple days later.who sent me to ER. They put me on 2 antibiotics simultaneously. 2 weeks later another primary care visit. Still healing. They are located in West Orlando. This is a very nice nail salon. The decor and design is fabulous! I love the wall display of SNS colors and matching nail polishes. They also have a roller display of nails with gel polishes! I love all the meticulous details. The owner has most definitely invested in this salon. When you walk in it looks a nail day spa. The waiting area has oversized chairs. I also saw a little kids waiting area on the right side of the salon which is different. I arrived as soon as they opened at 9:30a. I was greeted promptly and serviced. My nail tech was nice and spoke really good English (always a bonus lol). She was efficient and did a good job on my SNS. It looks neat and natural. She did it exactly how SNS is suppose be done without the UV lights. They only negative is she couldn't do they sunflower design I wanted. I wanted to like this nail salon so badly because it's beautiful, but sadly it was a huge disappointment. The nail salon itself is very clean and beautifully decorated with modern her elegant touches. Glamorous chandeliers, gorgeous light fixtures, luxurious pedicure chairs... but that's where all the positive comments end. Reminds me of the saying, "You can't judge a book by the cover." This salon "looks" like a beautiful and high end nail salon, but the quality is lacking in their services and technique. I went on a Friday around noon and surprised it wasn't crowded. There was one additional customer there. That should've been my first indication. Every other salon is bustling on a Friday afternoon (if it's a good one). It was dead silent in the salon. No music, no TV, nothing. I thought they were having trouble with the equipment, but then one of the other nail technicians was "playing" with the TV using his phone to control it, but then just never turned music on. Not exactly a pleasant atmosphere as it sounded like a mortuary. The nail technician who worked on me was pleasant, but barely spoke English. That's always frustrating when it's difficult to communicate. I had the SNS Dip manicure and I will say they have every color you could want. However, it was the worst manicure I have ever had. She didn't go down far enough to the cuticle with the dip so there was a pretty big gap when she was finished. If I had noticed it while she was working I would've said something, but unfortunately I did not realize this until she was finished. By the next day, one of my nails was chipped. By the second day, two more were cracked. And by the 5th day, both hands looked like a hot mess. I called the salon after the first nail chipped to see if I could come in to have it repaired, but was told I would have to pay for it and that I probably hit my nails on something. Well, I'll be the first to say I'm pretty tough on my nails, but I'm 24 hours I shouldn't have a chipped nail! Usually, when I have SNS dip nails, I can go 2-3 weeks with no chips or cracks, which is why I get dip manicures. Don't be fooled by the beautiful appearance of this salon. Don't waste your time and money. Don't go here. Just don't! Trust me, you'll just end up having to go to another salon for a new manicure. read more

I got a full set with a design and a pedicure 3 weeks ago for my birthday. The nails were $90 and and the pedicure was $40. I gave a $30 tip for both techs. This time I come back for a simple fill-in and an even more simple design and they charge me $80. There are no set prices and it seems they charge what they want for the day. On top of that, they charge a fee for using a debit or credit card. I ended up paying $81.15. If you pay with cash, you don't get that fee. I don't like that, so I will not be back anymore. Not to mention there are bubbles in my top coat and its not smooth. I used to patron this business all the time when I lived closer, but not as much since I moved out of Orange County. Took my daughter for a relaxing day. Pedicures where fine but my heels were ruff by time we got home. Daughters nails were ok, BUT me; it took an extra 1 1/2 hours to finish. My nails are 1/8" inch thick in some areas. The acrylic was stuck to the cuticle and underneath in so many spots it was ridiculous! Please don't go to Star Nails again. Today I had the worst experience there. I called yesterday to make an appt. with either VICTOR or Tu. Victor (one of the owners) answered the phone and confirmed a 1pm appt for GREG to get a fill. I showed up early today at 11am to get a pedi before my mani with Victor. After my Pedi I was sitting in the waiting area when I got a call from Star Nails. I looked to see which of the staff was using the phone. It was Victor himself. So I got up and approached him and asked him if he was trying to call me. He replied, "Yes." He then asked me what I was waiting for. I told him, "My 1 o'clock appt. with you." He quickly came back with, "I don't do men. I don't do men's nails. You can wait and see if someone else can do your nails." I should have yelled out, "DISCRIMINATION!!!" But I didn't. I just sat down and watched the other staff take care of people that had come in after me. Been here a few times and I always try to give it another chance but I'm done. I went for a pedicure and a simple manicure. How is it that my feet look just as dried and rough as they did when I came in? I get my pedicure every 3-4 weeks and I moisturize them daily. When the tech went to trim my toe nails he trimmed them way too short and crooked. I asked for a simple manicure and still have cuticle left on my nails, I had to finished the filing when I got home because the edges were left feeling ruff and unfinished. I don't ask for nail polish because it always peels but I didn't even get a cuticle oil, nothing. I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow with crooked, short toe nails with rough feet/heels and my nails I will have to finish myself. I went to Avie's on the recommendation of a friend who raves about it. I loved the decor. There's a huge beautiful fountain in the center of the pedicure room. The pedi room is really spacious compared to most places. There's purse hooks behind each chair and trays on both arm rests. They covered the trays with towels for any concurrent mani services. And a person could stand between each chair with the trays down-- relative privacy compared to most nail salons! The deluxe pedi was perfect and uneventful. The nail tech did not introduce herself but I later asked and learned her name was Cindy. The manicure was going okay for a while. I noticed that my gel mani was not any of the brands that I'm accustomed to, CND or OPI, no, this was some box--I'd never heard of them. I didn't like that the nail dryer was tilted to shine light into my face. I could feel the wrinkles forming on my face! Then Cindy pulled out what looked like polish thinner, poured it into the gel color and shook the color. Right in front of me!! I was not happy with that. She does not take her time, she will do a rush job on your nails so that she can work on you and someone else at the same time. KELLY does not pay attention to detail or take her time. I got my nails done less than one week ago, 2 of them came off and 4 other nails are currently lifting at the cuticle. When I came in to get the nails fixed KELLY had the nerve and audacity to try and charge me after I have already paid $57 for my nails less than a week ago plus I gave her a $10 tip so I paid her almost $70 for her to do a mediocre job. She had the nerve to request that I repay for her to repair my nails. I refused, so she ended up telling me that she wasn't gonna fix my nails and someone else there was gonna do it. To me that is completely unacceptable, she was upset I called her out and refused to fix her bad work. So, like I said if you want a rush job on your nails and poor quality and to be overcharged then you can go to this salon. If you want someone to do a bad job and treat you with poor customer service then asked for KELLY. Please don't be fooled by all her Instagram posts and pictures because the pictures look good but once you get there and you get the quality of work you'll see that she does not take the time to do a good job. So much wrong here but I start with the only positive. The place looks nice.. anyhow - I went in for a pedicure and had gel x on my nails from another nail salon. I needed them removed and asked if they are able to do it. They said yes but kept insisting that what I had on my nails was acrylic. I told them no, its gel x and it needs to be soaked and then gently scraped off. The lady doing my nails started using a tough nail bit and started drilling. I told her no and asked if she can gently scrape with the tool. She couldn't understand me and a young lady comes to help (Covid*) and proceeds to drill. I asked her if she can just scrape after its soaked and the gel like substance will just come off. She got mad and said this is impossible to remove. I then soaked her hand in the acetone and used my nails to scrape it to show how to remove it. I told them its okay and I can just leave them as is. this lady takes my hand and starts scraping and filing so vigoursly and left my nails in horrible shape. All because she had no idea what gel x was and was adamant that it is acrylics and that I didn't know what I was talking about. My covid disclaimer - they do not sanitize tools and use the same tool without cleaning, wiping or spraying on the next customer. They don't spray down the chairs or tubs after each client. read more
