Right in the heart of Bozeman, how cool!…read more I was up early on a Monday morning and wanted to take a little wander around before a longer morning hike. Decided to wander up here, and am happy I did. Granted, the clouds were pretty low this morning, so I'm not sure I got the full effect, but it was still neat. The only thing that was concerning is there was one off leash dog that was a little scary -- it made it so I couldn't do the loop around; it was snarling and offputting. Besides that: nice to see so many active people in the morning. When the weather is cooperative, this is a great little spot right in the heart of town. 2026: 45/2026

There are three different routes: hard, medium and easy, which make it fun to choose your own adventure. I've tried them all and I love the nice easy trail up to the top. You can even combine the medium and easy if you decide you want more of a challenge. All of them are short, not exceeding 3 miles. This is also the trail up to Mount badly. I would not recommend doing the hard trail up/down if you're summiting the mountain, although I've done it and lived to tell the tale. It gets busy, but the trail is never crowded and I always find parking. Love the bathroom at the trailhead!

We saw a bear in Yellowstone's Lamar Valley, but it took off before I could get a photo of it, so at least we have this to say we saw a bear! It was quite warm when we visited, and they were just putting their oldest grizzly, Maggie, out for us to observe. It wasn't terribly crowded. The bears apparently don't get along, so a ticket is good for two days if you want the opportunity to see all three of their current bears. Maggie put on quite a show for us and she even looked at us when we said her name. Wasn't expecting to experience eye contact with a grizzly bear, but I'm glad it was in a controlled environment!
