Biggest catch (and release) of the day, handsome boy!

We were total fishing novices - Carter of Montana Anglers made sure we had a fun flyfishing experience and successful time! Super knowledgeable and very patient with us newbies - he really explained how to best use the flyfishing poles, so when we hit the water we were ready to go. Amazing wild life sightings - multiple golden eagles bald eagles, osprey, a swimming bull-snake and some deer - along with catching trout and white fish. Well worth the spend $ - thank you Carter and Montana Angler!

We had a great day with Montana Angler! My wife and I are brand new to flyfishing and we couldn't have asked for a better first experience. It was 18 degrees outside and our guide, Adam, knew the perfect place to take us. He was very knowledgeable, friendly and patient. We spent the day fishing a spring-fed creek and catching brown and rainbow trout. The service from start to finish was flawless and we couldn't have asked for a better guide or day on the water! We will definitely use them again when we return to beautiful Montana!

Third trip with Montana Angler and the experience was fantastic, as always. We had to work around the June '22 historic flooding, and our guides Ben and Jared worked hard to give us the best possible fishing opportunity. We stayed at the Boulder River Outpost where Simon took great care of us. Every meal he prepared was top notch (especially the cast iron cookies) and he covered all the details for us. The Outpost is located in an absolutely gorgeous location And we were treated to some amazing sunsets. Can't wait for next year!

Wow! What a great experience! We were lucky to end up with Ben for a group trip. My 11 year old son and I had never been fly fishing before, so instead of just hitting the river, Ben expertly and patiently spent the time to get him dialed into everything he needed to know and sure enough, he caught a fish on the first cast! He is just as much "teacher" and "coach" as he is "guide." Ben was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable, even on a river he didn't guide as often. He engaged with my son, making what could be a long day, very interesting and fun. He took the time and energy to drag the boat up a tributary and have us disembark in an area that he had a "feeling" about, and after a short but pleasant walk up the stream we did, indeed, hook the catch of the day (see photo) from the whole group! I can't recommend Ben enough. Although he was the perfect guide for a family of newbies, I'm 100% sure he would be just as great for an angler of many years' experience. Finally, his very friendly canine boat companion "Remmy" kept us entertained by chasing rocks thrown in the river and generally just keeping us company. Thanks Ben, and Montana Angler for a once in a lifetime experience. We are "hooked" (haha) on fly fishing and next time we come up, we'll be asking for Ben to help us out again.

The Spotted Bear Ranch is an Orvis endorsed fly fishing ranch / bed & breakfast in Montana within…read morethe Bob Marshall Wilderness, closet town is Whitefish MT. The area is gorges, surrounded by pine trees, rough terrain through most of this area. The main lodge where the cooking and dining was located it over looked the South Fork of the Flathead River. The river has native west slope cutthroat and big bull trout. The fly of choice is the atomic ant, the water is so cold and pure in this area that rarely are there fly hatches, well at least the time we were there. The ranch backs into a National Forrest, where you cannot use any motorized vehicle, you can only hike or horse back into to fly fish. They do have a side road that will take the Fly fishing guides up half way up the river, where they will set in a float boat to fly fish. The guides here are very good, they know there stuff. I witnessed some of the best casting in years here. On a lunch break we stopped, and out of the boat one of the guides was backed up to a cliff that rose two hundred feet above him, yet he could make these cast out to the front and his back casts where going straight above him. That brought tears to my eyes, in true joy seeing that, I thought I could cast. Now if you have ever gone through an Orvis home decorating catalog, which is what the inside of these cabins, was filled with, Orvis lamps, bedspreads, towels to soaps, just unbelievable. IT reminded me of something Ralph Loren would put together. If you do go here, set aside a few days to go up to Glacier National Forrest, well worth it. The food was very great, but what I remember was the beauty of the area, the great customer service from the ranch hands, guides and staff. The fly fishing was just more than very good, it was off the chart. Thank you Spotted Bear Ranch, what a great spot for a guy to spend time with his dad! Thank you!
