This snow cone hut has been a Santa Fe staple for over 25 years!…read more The ice texture is pretty solid, gives you a good crunch and doesn't melt super fast in the summer sun. They don't drown it with juice, so if you like your bordering on the slushy side then get it with extra juice for $.25 no matter what size. They have the standard flavors, with some sour versions as well. There is diet flavors and what they call deluxe flavors, with such things as banana cream pie and strawberry shortcake. The price for those aren't on the menu so I don't know how much extra they cost. No flavors too out there, except for the recently added jalapeno, that comes with a warning that "beware it's made with real jalapenos." Their prices are pretty cheap compared to places in Houston or Galveston, small $1, medium $1.50, large $2 and the quintessential jumbo $2.75. They offer cream, chocolate or ice cream for a little bit extra. They also have smoothies for $3.50. All in all this place is pretty great. The hotter it gets the more packed the parking lot is, and there isn't any defined parking so it can get a little difficult. They season is about April to September every year, but it really seems to be based on how early and how late in the year it stays "summer temps." They usually close when it rains, the best way to know if they are open is when the flags are out!

My friend went next door and they said he is always running late bringing in groceries or something. Sure enough we waited to still give them a chance. He arrives at 12:19pm with groceries in hand. Saw us and didn't apologize for running late or said "I'll be right with you" nothing of that nature just ignored us. We were there with our 1 and 2 year olds. After he finished bringing in his groceries we waited another 10 mins as he still had his closer sign up and messing with the music. He didn't open the window for us till 12:31pm asking if we had cash because his card reader wasn't working. We said no so he said we needed to wait more till he got the reader working. We waited a few more minutes and said he would try to see if the reader would work he said no so I asked if we could Zelle him or something as I only had $7 cash, he gave an attitude saying he couldn't do that so I said that's fine we would just go somewhere else. Before we left my friend asked what time does he usually open as we were under the impression they opened at 12 he said he was just running late today but my friend said "well next door said you're always running late with groceries or something " and he just rolled his eyes and closed the window on us. NEVER COMING BACK OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Owner needs to learn some customer service basics as that's not how you treat customers SPECIALLY when we waited and never said anything to rush you.

The owner was nice, friendly, and helpful with making my selection. I forgot the name of my order, but the flavors were watermelon and apple jolly ranch. He proceeded to tell me how he uses fresh fruit to curate his flavors and the only addition to his drinks, is alcohol. Well, he is on to something. I ordered a large for $15.50. The taste was fruity instead of watery, thumbs up... it tasted good in a none slurpee way, consistent thru to the last sip. Now on the other hand, it needed a better brand of rum or more of it. Yelp, it was week. For $15.50 I was expecting more.

I bust a U and drove thru! So glad I did. I'm horrible w/names but I chopped up with the owner. Nice guy! Told him I was in town from Northern California. He shared some of his history w/me (how he met a woman on a visit and now she's his wife and business partner). That's sweet & not every couple can be business partners. Back to the daiquiri. I got the Island Breeze one day. I went back 2-3 days later and got a mango-something that had Tajín in it. He suggested it and it was great. I love frozen drinks, the only thing missing was the umbrella. As hot as it was every damn day, if I thought my liver could've handled it, I would've had a couple every day!! They do sell it by the gallon. Great convo, great service & Great Daiquiris!!!
