Long line for food
DeHorne S.

In an army of food trucks at the NFL Live experience, Kurbside Eats proved to be the slowest of them all. I waited in line for hour and another hour before our food food came out. I wish I was kidding. Sure you may say that it's a big event and there's just a huge crowd for food, but compared to the other trucks here who can get their orders in and out in 45 minutes, then you're doing something wrong. Brazilian Churrasco food truck and a Casian King both had efficient lines and low wait time for food. The picture posted shows all you need to know. Ridiculous wait. That's a crowd just waiting for food.

R to L, T to B: shrimp taco, veggie paratha, chicken taco & street fries(no meat)
Robyn W.

Food trucks galore were lined up outside the convention center today and we were famished! Many had some long a** lines and being a vegetarian it restricted me to who I could choose. Kurbside had some options that were fitting and that made my decision on who to choose (plus their line was a bit shorter). We opted for several options: chicken taco, shrimp taco, veggie on paratha and kurbside fries sans the meat. The veggie on paratha was really pretty flavorsome! I enjoyed the components inside; the crisp carrots, crystal noodles and squash. The bread was grilled nicely, but was a bit too oily. My man was unimpressed with both the shrimp and chicken tacos. The fries were interesting. They were basic fries with lots of sauce smothered all over them and kimci. I really wished they would have put more of the kimci on there since I opted out of the meat. My man thought they were gross, but I thought they were OK. Would I seek them out again? I'm not sure about that. They were just OK to me. But you could bet I'd grab another veggie on paratha if I was hungry and they were in my line of sight!

This is one of my favorite food trucks in all of Houston, and it's a staple at the University of Houston campus - if you are anywhere near here, I encourage y'all to check this food truck out. Beware though that there is usually a long line and the aromatic smells wafting from the kitchen does not make the wait easier. I always order their BEEF TACO mainly due to the rich taste of that Asian marinated ribeye. The smallness of the taco is deceptive as the thickness of the tortilla satisfies you quick - the tortilla is pretty much the thick, tasty onion pancake that you see in Asian cuisine, minus the actual onion pancake. In addition, the creamy cilantro sauce and spicy mayo are sparse and complement the deep umami flavor of the beef taco. Try this place if you get the chance!

Hot dogs

Omg these hotdogs we got at this food truck at Saloon Door Brewing were to die for! They were so good and the guy that was in the truck was just raving about them.. so he was not wrong. We got 2 hot dogs for $10 so that was kind of a steal. They are spicy but good level of spicy. They came out super quick too.

No words to describe"The GOODNESS " of the food from Kurbside Eatz. It's a must try . Love Love Love there 's and Loaded Fries .

Curry Beef Burger

I was so excited to see this new food truck on UH campus and I really wanted to like these guys! Maybe it was a one time thing? This review is only for the 3 Cheese Curry Beef Burger. Presentation (A): Everything looked appealing and fresh. Service (B): After ordering, it took around 15 minutes for the food to be ready. There was a line of people so for fresh food, it wasn't too bad. They even have a fancy shmancy tv that you can watch while you wait for your order and there's also music playing. Food and Execution (C): The initial bite into the burger was yum and that curry flavor was definitely on point but after that it went downhill. The bread was burnt on the inside and so was the crispiness layer of ?? bacon?. Each bite was burnt flavor overpowering the curry flavor. Thankfully the meat and $1 extra egg wasn't. The meat however was lacking that juiciness flavor. If you like the lean, no natural oozing oil in the meat then I guess you might like this burger. I suspect this was all due to smushing the meat to cook faster. Another plus was that I wasn't charged $1 extra for using a credit card. I don't know if this is due to the venue being at UH? But I'm glad, because I like tiping if there's no credit card charge! Anyways, pretty disappointed :( but I'm still determined to try something else on their menu and not kurb these guys off the street!

Frito Pie

This place needs more reviews! I've been here a few times with my friend Anh. My first trip I tried the Kurbside fries, although similar in look to OMG their fries are very different. The fries themselves have a more natural taste, and the girl was kind enough to load up the white sauce which made them aggressively addicting to eat, even after hitting up 3 trucks before that I couldn't help but stuff my face Since then I've had a few more visits, and my favorite menu item as become the Curry Burger with, yes, a fried egg on top! The burger packs a punch of mouth watering spices, and a delightful crunch from what I believe is fried curry? The Tacos are filling with plenty of flavor. I've only had the chicken, so I don't know how the beef taste, but they load up the meats on these bad boys which makes them flavorful, and along with the seasoning one of my favorite taco's in Houston. It's hard to pin point what type of food this truck has they really have everything, and it's all really good. I don't know if I would call them Asian Fusion, but then I'm the type of person who eats PF Changs, so I guess I loose my "What is Asian Food Pass The Staff is very friendly, and the girl was cracking me up while she loaded up my fries with that savery white sauce. They need to improve their yelp location serivces so we can put them on the Yelp Radar!

So when I was looking for a place to eat somewhere on our trip home from Galveston, I knew this might be my best chance. I'd originally planned on just ordering a simple brisket sandwich, but as I looked at the menu, I felt like I wanted one of everything. I was really tempted to order a loaded baked potato, but because I'd be eating it in the car, I figured that might be a bit too messy, so I eventually went with Plan A. One bite into that thing and I knew I made the right decision. It was so juicy and so flavorful. Just the perfect lunch for what I was craving. And then to make this love story even better, later that day, I went to HEB. My HEB happens to have one of those BBQ restaurants inside of it, and it's never open when I visit because I always do my grocery shopping in the morning. But this particular visit was at about 4pm. And I opted to order the exact same thing: a brisket sandwich, so that I could compare the two. I'm sure this is not news to Smokin Z's or their fans, but this was the most lopsided competition I've experienced in a while. My visit to HEB only made me appreciate Smokin Z's more, as the HEB version tasted like something made by my 11 year old nephew. I'm embarrassed I even put the two head to head, as we're talking about a totally different weight class here.

Your mans is a budding food truck connoisseur so imagine my excitement when I found out about this…read moreplace. I pass by it every week when I head to my teaching internship, and I occasionally get Facebook posts about its events. I visited Three Acres for the first time last Friday. The venue hosted an event honoring teachers and nurses (both received 10% off their orders with their ID badges). Expectations met. The vibe here is that of church picnic, outdoor festival, and family get-together. About five or six food trucks set up shop so deciding what to eat was a good problem to have. I intend to come back when the park hosts its first-ever karaoke night this coming weekend. It's in my Filipino heritage to pick up a mic.

My first visit was a day that was "Dog Day" and a lot of dog adoptions and pet-friendly snacks and…read morea wellness clinic on site. The wellness clinic was offering vet services at a discounted cost, which is absolutely amazing. There were multiple food trucks present, and everything smelled great. They have a concession stand with a pretty good variety of beverages, most had alcohol (just an FYI). I was confused by the website, as I read it that the picnic tables needed to be reserved, but you could bring your own pop-up chair. When we got there the reservations of the picnic tables was not the case. Perhaps that is only for special events? I did see that some of the events had an event fee, so those reservation requirements may only fall on those dates. A lot of picnic tables. A lot of space to put down a picnic blanket or have chairs available. There is a small playground for children, and there were a lot of play toys (balls of all sorts - basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc.). I am not sure if those belong to the site or if people brought their own. There is a little stage where a musician was playing live music. There are highball tables up by the concession stand area. The parking lot of very large, gravel. There was a little plastic pool that was filled up with water and ice for pups. I am not sure if that belongs to the site, but after the dog adoption people left the pool stayed. The only negative was that there is only one women's bathroom at the time that I visited. Luckily it wasn't too busy when I went, but I could imagine that would be a nightmare. All in all - it is a very cute place. They are active on their Facebook site and their website and they have some YouTube clips. Nice concept.

When I walked in I stated hello to the…read moreserver, waiting for a response from her and after a few awkward seconds of looking at me she finally stated, how many? Really, that was my welcome? The restaurant had a few customers for the early Saturday morning. I was sat at a table that was very wobbly. The server had to notice because she moved the table around before seating me. Really, all these empty tables and you sit me at the wobbly one. I ordered a hot tea and ice water. The water for the tea tasted like it came from the coffee pot. Restaurants need to learn not to use the same pot for hot water that is used for coffee. I get bad indigestion if I drink any amount of coffee. So much so I now state I am allergic to coffee. So restaurants, please stop mixing the pots without doing a deep cleaning. I also ordered "The Southerner". It has 2 sausage patties, 2 eggs over medium served on a split biscuit, covered with sausage gravy and a side of grits. I requested the gravy to be on the side. The eggs were cooked great, sausage patties also great. The biscuit they were on had an odd taste. Didn't taste like the biscuits were baked, maybe fried? That would probably explain the biscuit being tough. The sausage gravy was not good. The gravy was thin/runny with cut up pieces of the sausage patties, but it lacked the sausage flavor. The grits were also very soupy. I had pushed my full cup of hot tea to the edge of the table, the server either didn't notice or just didn't care. I was only asked once if I was needing anything else, and since she didn't ask about my full cup of tea, I wasn't going to say anything. When she came over to the table she asked if I needed anything, I stated No, I am done. She asked if I wanted my check, and I paid my tab. They do advertise Bloody Mary's and other breakfast cocktails but I didn't have any of those. The location is good, area outside for the kids to run and play. Seating outside also to watch the kids. I think I would only return to this place if I am invited out to brunch with my group of friends. Otherwise, would be a long while before I return, being hopeful things have improved.

This is a great spot for anyone who enjoys a good local spot with fresh menu options for sweet or savory preferences. Great atmosphere and nicely decorated. Highly recommend. Only reason for 4 stars is the wait staff was a bit all over the place but I'm sure it was just them trying to remain on top of providing a quick brunch service.
