I am writing this review in spite of Home Depot in Milldale. I went to buy carpet yesterday at Home…read moreDepot and waited around for 40 minutes total to be serviced in the carpet area. Turns out the carpet I wanted wasn't stocked on the roll and the saleswoman could have cared less about trying to help me find another. Today however, Lowe's satisfied my carpet needs! We were greeted, not once, but twice (go figure, right?!) by store workers, and within 1 minute of reaching the back end of the store where the giant rolls of carpet were, a kind woman named Laurie asked if I needed anything. She quickly helped me identify which carpet we needed and located a coworker to help her cut and wrap the rug. Amen! Took me less than 30 minutes to buy the carpet at Lowe's and puts to shame the 45 minute, fruitless ordeal at Home Depot down the street.

Okay, I'm a fan of this Lowe's location in-particular. Lowe's itself is a dependable brand when it…read morecomes to customer service, reliable stock, and store upkeep. The weekends are much busier than over the weekend, so I always prefer a weekday. Selections of say; nuts & bolts, pipe fittings, fixtures, lumber, you get the drift, are much less elbow to elbow, and service is much more plentiful. Keep your eye on the sales via their app notifications and email for increased valve for your over worked dollar. Returns are even a notable service, just make sure you remember a paper receipt and/or which credit card is used if it's to be credited back - this has been my pitfall at times.

I had the displeasure and unfortunate timing to run into Scott as the one and only person tending…read moreto the customer service desk upon my visiting this Plainville location today. I made the trip there specifically just to return a water line. Scott would not allow this claiming that once a product like this has been used (water touched it) that it counts as a biohazard and can't be put back on their shelves. Now, please take a moment if you will, dear reader, and explain to me how I'm supposed to know that a product I bought off their shelf would not work without first trying to actually use the product? This was a braided waterline with a flood defender affixed to it, and a supposed strict upgrade to the old plastic line I had prior. I bought a brand new Samsung fridge and figured that I would buy a brand new water line to go along with it. Perhaps the one I selected had a kink in it, a defective flood guard, or perhaps was just mishandled while in transport or while at the store... who knows because the entire selection of these waterlines were sprawled out everywhere along the floor of the warehouse instead of neatly in their designated spots on a shelf. Point is, I went to use the water line and it wasn't doing its job, and it was no fault of mine. Now before I tried to disconnect and return the product I gave it the benefit of doubt because I scheduled an appointment with the tech guys from the company that sold me the fridge (Costco) thinking that perhaps there was a chance that the fridge itself was the problem, maybe not pulling the water hard enough thru the line or something to this effect. But no, this was not the conclusion of the fridge service techs. They actually suggested I just try to buy a new line, and that is what I did. I went BACK to the same Lowe's I bought the first water line from and bought a different model line. And guess what happened... it works as it is supposed to! Well, sure seems to me like I was sold a defective or poor quality product initially, and based on that alone I can't for the life of me understand why I shouldn't be able to make a return. Well, despite my explaination, Scott still wouldn't process the return. Seeing how insistent he was I asked if there was someone else available that could help resolve this. I made the trip back there today solely to make this return and 28 dollars and change is not going to break my bank but I'd sure rather have my money in my account back than have a defective cable laying around my home. And the rudeness I encountered at the desk was unacceptable. This man Scott twice proclaimed that he was a manager. His name tag read "head cashier" or "head service desk" or something to that effect. Managers have the word manager written out for a reason. I have worked in a field where customer service is prioritized, and if I were to ever act so defiantly stubborn I'd expect consequences to follow. This man was the face of Lowe's customer service, a "head" representation of their values and it certainly left me in a terrible frame of mind today. I'm planning to follow up and make sure that this gets addressed, as I am very unhappy with my experience today.
