The staff couldn't have been friendlier and even gave us a private table downstairs, which made it feel like our own little speakeasy. Providing much needed life was Natalie, a great bartender and as warm and vivacious a personality as you can find in the wilds of Manhattan. Food: They have free popcorn and the drinks were what you would expect for mid town both in price and quality. Service: There was only one person working the larger area that night and you could tell. By the end of the night they were done and ready to get out of the place. You can tell that they are hard working to get things done in a busy place. Ambiance: Loved the beer games in the basement, but the people who were there were a little questionable. There were people who were likely over served and I wish that the staff took more accountability for the bar patrons. read more

I wish AAA was that good when you run out of gas on the highway. Polina and Ulga took care of me tonight behind the bar. These amazing bartenders are fast, efficient, and provide service with a smile. I watched them serve the entire bar in minutes (that's pretty good). Great casual spot in midtown near grand central station! I came here on a Wednesday evening with a friend to have a couple post dinner drinks and they had good drink specials. We had a margarita ($12) and a glass of wine ($10) and they also provide complimentary popcorn when you arrive as well which was very nice. I was attending an educational dinner in the area the other night, and since my colleagues and I had some time to kill before it started we thought it would be a good idea to decompress with a drink beforehand. A quick search produced Sanfu - it was only a block away from the restaurant which sealed our fate, so off we went. Snafu definitely has a dive aesthetic - walking in you're greeted by a long, dark room with the bar to the right and a few tables to the left. It was crowded when we arrived, but they had some lounge-style seating in the back where we were led to. The decor was a mixed bag - I was getting a mix of industrial with eclectic; it was inoffensive and worked for the space. This seems to be a popular after work spot - I saw a lot of people in work attire (I guess I'm one of them?). As soon as we were seated we were given a free bowl of popcorn, which they regularly refilled throughout our time there. The popcorn was tasty, albeit salty - I imagine a strategic move to keep the patrons thirsty. Besides the popcorn, I don't believe they serve food (the menu was all drinks) which was fine since we were eating later. They have a good selection of signature cocktails, beer, wine, and hard liquors. I focused on their cocktails, and decided to start with the Smoked Negoni. This was good - smooth and contained that smoky flavor from the infused applewood bits. They actually smoked the wood on top of the drink table-side which I thought was a fun touch. I also had an Aperol Spritz which was tasty too. Service was good - our waitress was really friendly and did a great job taking care of the entire crowded back area despite seemingly doing it alone; never once did we feel forgotten. Overall, I had a good experience at Snafu - I wouldn't say there is anything too outstanding about the spot, but they serve good drinks and provide great service. NOT SAFE!! I've been here before and noticed creepy men but never had an issue, until last night when one of their regular customers groped me. I called him out on it, and went to tell the bouncer - the bouncer acted upset, and hurried after him, but then immediately went to the back of the bar, dabbed him up, and laughed with him. The bouncer and bartenders then bought this man shots and made no effort to remove him from the bar. Would encourage any women to stay away!! Walked in, no one asked for vaccination cards, no one wore masks, and no acknowledgment at the bar whatsoever! It wasn't packed either. The one bartender kept her conversation with two customers going without glancing over or saying I'll be right with you. I walked over to grab the hand sanitizer and the bartender (still in convo with the customers) points to two girls to her right and says "Oh they work here too." This is a good dive bar. The vibes were right. It put me into a good mood! With loud but good music, we were served a Moscow mule and a happy hour bud light. The Moscow was perfectly made. Being a girl living in the east side, I have been looking for a divey bar to just grab drinks and hang out with friends during the weekday. Usually I end up at Reunion, BUT! It is all the way on the grimy parts of Hell's Kitchen (sorry...but you guys know I am just stating facts). One fine day after a quick workout, I went here to grab a drink with a special friend of mine. I haven't seen her since 2019 so we needed to hang out! It was cold and we didn't want to go far so we ended up here. I passed this place in the past and actually had strong drinks here on a date. It took me about a year to go back here and man am I glad I did. The drinks here are strong and they give you free popcorn. My friend and I ate up three bowls of popcorn because it was fresh out of those carnival machines and well salted. Well... we were drunk too... This place is sort of identical to Reunion except they don't have food. Aside from the popcorn, there is no food. You can bring food from outside, but... I am not sure. However, the drinks are strong and, just like Reunion, you have a hard time getting a drink. So, order all your drinks when you have a server. I honestly love this place and am so glad that I found a place that will keep me away from HK. Well... they have to open an Amy's Bread around me now, but at least I have this. Super fan! read more

Midtown "Fun" Dive // Unlimited Popcorn Rose All Day // Picklebacks Left and event and was looking for a place for everyone to hang out. With a wide range of people, a dive bar seemed the most inclusive. Opened up Yelp and noticed Snafu was nearby. Had been to Snafu once before and remembered having a good time. It was late enough and a weekday so we had the run of the place. We opted for a high top table in the bar area which was comfortable. I walked over and grabbed a bowl filled with popcorn, salted it, and shared it with our group. Such a great way to keep everyone drinking... (smart bar owners). Noticed several people downstairs laughing over a beer pong table. And then a bride and groom walked in and sat down at the bar. #OnlyinNYC #YepThatHappened Several dozen photos later I had uploaded some images for the happy pair and we found ourselves enjoying picklebacks with them.
