Ah man, Snacks, you are a hidden treasure. I wish I had known about you sooner, but then again, if I had, then I would be much fatter. All of the ice cream is brought in from Mexico, so it's not local, but man, is it authentic. Your two go-tos? The fresas con crema (chunks of strawberries and blueberries, mixed with creamy yogurt, granola, and raisins) and mangoneada (mango chunks mixed with spices). Delicious desserts! We didn't know what half of the stuff was, so the lady there who was extremely nice, helped us. We ended up getting the mangonada and three scoops of ice cream. I don't even remember the name of flavors, but I only know one was walnut and it was soooo good. I'm a huge walnut fan, so I loved it! The ice cream was so cream and so good. This place used to be good when they first opened up they were fast and very good with their customers,but now its really bad i ordered 2 piña loca and 2 banana split. They took an hour to finish my order and to make it worse they only brought out 1 banana split. About a month or so ago, I was at a city cleanup event in downtown SM and saw a giant container of one of my favorite beverages: watermelon agua fresca. And BOOM, it was fantastic. I didn't know it was possible to like watermelon agua fresca more than I already did, but sure enough, I was in love. I found out that it came from Snacks and was back in short order to purchase one for myself. Turns out that Snacks has a broad selection of fruity treats, from paletas to ice cream to mangoneadas and smoothies... and on and on. Yet I can't get myself past the aguas frescas because they are just that good. I love that they have so many fruity treats on offer. It's like the foil to my CREAM habit. I found Snacks on accident when the munchies kicked in so I searched 'snacks' on Yelp and this came up. It turns out it's only one (convenient) block from my office. With all the heat waves we've been having lately, nothing slays a hot weather food craving like this place. The mangoneadas are amazing. I love the tajin straw especially. The sour and the sweet combination really gets me. It's a bit of an acquired taste, but the mango sweetness makes it all so so so good. Sweet, tart mango balanced with spicy and the straw with tamarind is oh so fun! The ice creams here are all freshly made, featuring some unique fruit flavors you can't find at your general ice cream store. First off for starters, the owner is my uncle but that doesn't affect the way I review his business since that'd be a disservice for the people trying to find a decent place to get antojos mexicanos. On to the review: It's a relatively small place (the size of your average T-pumps or any boba place really). Parking is metered and scarce at times but it's well worth the time you spend LOOKING for parking. At first glance you might be a bit skeptical that this place might actually be delicious but once you see the menu and see that everything they make is authentic, fresh, locally sourced, and above all, rather healthy (juices, bionicos, etc.) Their menu is relatively short and concise but that's perfect for someone that wants to get in and out asap. If you're not one to quickly warm up to the rather "ethnic" desserts, I suggest you start off with a chocolate ice cream in a waffle cone or some of the usual ice cream parlorsque flavors. The fruit juices are also amazing. I always get the large pineapple juice for $3.75; very very filling. The fresas con crema is another thing that's not too "extreme" for the uncultured palette. If you're adventurous, go with the Chicharrones preparados or Tostilocos. Overall Snacks is an amazing hole in the wall type place that truly deserves the reviews it gets. Everything on the menu is delicious and once you try them all, you'll quickly become a regular. P.s. the Mangoneadas are by far the best I've tasted in all the Bay Area; the mango is always sweet and the mango sorbet is A1. HIT UP SNACKS FOR ALL YOUR SWEET TOOTH NEEDS!. read more

The guy serving was so nice!!! He scooped me a huge scoop of mango ice cream, which was ok but not special in any way. He put it into a waffle cone, which broke so he looked through the entire bag but couldn't find a better waffle cone so he got out another box with new waffle cones. He was really nice but the neighborhood was not so nice. A lot of people sitting in corners looked like thugs and were quite creepy. Also, the equipment did not look so clean and the shop itself was not very tidy. On a nicer note, my mom had the mangoneal???!!? Which she loved. You need to try this place out! The ice-cream is delicious and you cannot find most of the flavors in most ice-cream shops or mainstream stores. The pecan flavor is the best! I took my mom and she said the ice cream was just how they make it in Mexico. The fruit bars too. I've also tried the mangonado and the Pina Loca. The Pina Loca is not listed on the menu but they will make it. There is plenty of seating inside but parking on the street isn't always easy to find. read more

My new go to spot if I'm craving Mexican antojitos! I had the tostilocos and since I don't like cueritos which is pork skin, I always substitute for mango and always add extra hot sauce. Their Waffle is AMAZING!!! And their paletas "icicles" are so good too. The only downside is that the place is not as clean. read more

Yay! I finally tried a Mangonada. For the longest time, I wondered WHAT the hell people kept eating and posting on IG! I had no idea what it was, until someone created a hashtag for it! Husband and I ran into a place at Great Mall, but the line was so long. I turned to my husband and said it must be just a hype. Finally, one HUNGRY AND TIRED afternoon, I decided to look on Yelp for something quick and sweet. I originally looked up ice cream, but came across Snacks! Looked through the photos and decided I could NOT not try it. Drove by right after work and could not believe my eyes. No lines, no wait, elote in a cup?!?!?! and Mangonadas that looked way too damn good. I bought two Mangonadas, and one elote in a cup. Best decision ever. The Mangonadas were soooooooooo deliciously fresh. The Mangoes were sweet and juicy. At first I couldn't understand what the stick was for?!? but later realized it was good if you licked it. LOL. The elote in the cup was freaking delicious. I thought that all the toppings would just stay on the top, but NOPE. It was alllll over. Every layer of that cup. It was elote heaven. SO GOOD.
