Went for dinner on Sat night with two other couples. Was a mix up with one of the specials mentioned. The waitress did her best to remedy the situation and the owner bought over after dinner drinks. What was completely unacceptable was that another waitress was taunting us about the situation as we were leaving. She was a talk , dark haired boisterous , mean spirited person. We were also taunted on the way out by other servers. We gave our original waitress a very good tip and no hard feelings until our walking out the door. My parents and I came here for my moms birthday and it was such a nice, unique experience. We reserved an igloo so we can really enjoy the water views without the wind and cold weather. It was nice and warm in there and the ambiance was so cute. The food was incredible. We got the baked clams appetizer and all enjoyed it. I got the fried fish tacos, my dad the fish and chips and my mom the chicken bruschetta. We all loved our meals. The fish they use is cod for the fish and chips and the fish tacos and it really makes a difference. I loved the batter on them and they were fried to perfection. Several years ago, we had the misfortune of having our granddaughter's christening party here. Not only were the tables not set when we arrived, but no staff was available to serve us. Our guests were going to the bar to buy their own drinks. The food service took so long that our guests were leaving before the cake was served. When we called to speak to the owner to complain, he actually threatened to call the police on us! We have hosted many parties but this was hands down the worst experience we have ever had. We are searching for a restaurant that had outdoor dining with heated lamps since it was quite a cold afternoon. Smugglers Jacks was on the water and had plenty of outdoor seating. When we arrived we realized it was just too cold to dine outdoors, so they accommodated us inside the restaurant where the ventilation was quite good. What we noticed about their outdoor dining besides tables along the shore line, they had heated igloos. They stated that one could reserve an igloo for a group to enjoy a winter's night experience at Smugglers Jacks. The igloos are domed structures made from heavy clear plastic with fairly large space along with comfortable furniture. They even provide you with blankets and a heat source that keeps the space quite warm. The restaurant indoor dining area has a casual contemporary pub lie appearance accented with wood walls and bar area. We had an enjoyable lunch inside the restaurant with wonderful service. I surely look forward to taking advantage one evening of their igloos with friends or family. read more

Planned my sister's Bridal shower at Smuggler Jack's which took place over this past weekend (5/11/24). Brendan was easy to work/coordinate with and was very accommodating to all of my requests. The space was perfect for a 50 person party (indoors) and the food was phenomenal (sit down brunch). Brendan and the staff were incredibly hospitable and went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and that everyone was taken care of. One of the last days of summer, we were able to pull the boat right up to the back dock. We waited about 45 minutes for a table. They were very conscious about social distancing as we waited. Ordered a Ceasar salad great, and Tuscany Chicken Avocado entree, not so great. My husband called to make a reservation for outside. He was told they didn't take reservations, but it was a Tuesday and we were coming early. We drive 50 minutes in rush hour to get there and when we arrived they said they were closed that night for a private party! How come the person on the phone didn't mention it??? I was there with a group of people on a Thursday night and we got an igloo. The place was dead and charging $60 for the use of the igloo was not necessary. The positive was that the staff left us alone and we could chat and enjoy the night with friends. The food was ok. Decent portions, the seafood was good the sides not so much. My girlfriend and I came here for St Patricks Day and I am sure glad we did. I was not sure what to expect, especially seeing the overall rating for the restaurant but after eating here I must say it was a fantastic meal. To start the beer was crisp and refreshing and the irish mule was delicious. We started with irish spring rolls which were stuffed with corn beef and cabbage and WOW those were good. The waitress brought us some irish soda bread that was so flavorful we had to get another round. For dinner we both got the Shepard's Pie and it was quite amazing, from the meat to the potatoes and all in between. We sat right at the window with an outside view that was overlooking water which was nice. I also came here yesterday and waited hours for service, like the reviews below stated. In the restaurant's defense, it was a warm day and everyone wanted to eat outdoors. The food was pretty good, especially the French onion soup. After the soup, I had mussels and a lemon sorbet. They have an awesome three course lunch special for $18. The major downside here is the service. It took us nearly an hour to get seated, despite having reservations. It took us nearly 20 min to get menus and a server. We only got a server after I specifically asked one if they could help us. I really wanted to like this place because the location is nice, especially since there is outdoor seating by the water. However, I would not go back until their service improves. We were there for approx 3 hours for lunch! If say we waited 40 minutes in between courses just waiting. Went to lunch with two daughters and 4 grandchildren. My main complaint was the food. We have eaten here many times in the past. This time the food was sub-par. Lets start with the baked clams - they were burnt - black! The Calamari wasn't cooked fully and the taste was off! My grandchildren ordered the lobster mac & cheese. It was served with burnt breadcrumbs and a 'soup' like consistency. My daughters ordered the hot lobster rolls which were served soggy and they said they had absolutely no flavor. My daughter brought this to the attention of our server who referred the problem to his boss Noel. Well, Noel is the most obnoxious person. We were completely appalled by his behavior. Wouldn't give his name after being asked at least a half dozen times. Insisted that the food was of high quality. He was very argumentative during the entire conversation. When I said that maybe he had a different chef he states " well we are having staffing problems!" I can see why. Noel is very, very RUDE acting like my family was trying to pull the wool over his eyes. We ordered at least 5 appetizers, 7 entrees and drinks. We were just trying to have a nice meal! Went out here on a Saturday evening and was very disappointed. Not only was the food expensive and underwhelming, but we found not one, not two, but THREE hairs in our food. We mentioned our frustrations to our waitress very politely. The manager came over and went about the conversation poorly. He offered us a drink or dessert for free, but why would we want to continue eating when our appetite was completely ruined? So if you want to sit on the water and eat go ahead. Expect terrible service. Kitchen has no idea what they are doing. Ordered Chicken Bruschetta with saffron rice, with a side of Truffle fries. Received chicken with cheddar cheese over salad and asparagus, did not get the fries until after I finished my dinner. Ordered a bottle of wine that took 45 minutes to get. Waitress must be used to the terrible service from bar and kitchen and just kept apologizing all night. One person in our party ordered the same beer 4 times. The 4th time it was so cloudy like all the remnants on the bottom of a kicked keg. After complaining to the waitress the owner came over and actually tried to tell us that happens from time to time and to just drink it. He refused to drink it, they wouldn't take it off the bill or even offer another option. Owner walks around drinking acting like he cares when all he does is add to the aggravation. This was the 2nd time going here. First review was 2 stars. Place hasn't changed in 7 years. This was for a family members birthday. Was not my choice. Never would go back. And now we all agree. The Yelp reviews weren't that great and when we got there and dealt with confusion on table availability (hostess had no idea what tables were open, said 1/2 hour wait, then 15 minutes, then another 1/2 hour), not getting a menu until 10 min after sitting and confusion on who was waiting our table I wasn't sure how my overall experience would be. We were a party of 5 and my little one (as usual) loved the burger. I wish they would've had kids fish and chips, he would've had that instead. I enjoyed my grilled cod tacos. Would've liked more than spring mix on the top, but overall the portion was good and the fish was cooked well. Hubby got the French onion soup, on the salty side but pretty good! He also got the cod oreganata which he really liked and I stole some of his zucchini ribbons which were delicious! The others in my party loved their meals, blackened Mahi Mahi (with potatoes instead of rice) and the shrimp and chips which had a TON of fries and really nice size shrimp. This restaurant is always a pleasure. I like to dine outside weather permitting. They have a beautiful waterfront dining area. Recently dined on Fried shrimp and sweet potato fries. Shrimp was very lightly breaded and fried just right not at all greasy, sweet potato fries were delicious. Desert and salads were very good as well. Hard to find something nice to say about this place. The blacked mahi was very dry, thankfully the sauce and fruit that is served with made it edible. Do not order the mussels, they are not cleaned properly and I had over half a dozen of them that still had the beard attached to the meat. Other people at my table also experienced that on mussels they ate from the bowl. Seems like everyone that works there doesn't want to be there, had 3 orders of food come to our table that we didn't order, staff were walking up with food asking if we ordered it and no wasn't ours, very disorganized. We ended up getting our appetizers before we got our drinks and had no plates because the original plates they gave us were all dirty. We got here around 9:15pm on a Saturday night and were told it was about a 15-20 min wait to sit outside (even though we saw several open tables outside). We had two ask twice for waters. We ordered: - House salad.. basic salad, was fine - French onion soup.. wasn't the best French onion soup but was ok - Sesame crusted yellowfin tuna ($29) - Linguini and clams in white wine garlic ($21) - Wine The linguini was way over cooked and slightly gummy tasting (aka mushy). It really didn't have that much flavor either. The tuna was good, I liked the noodles that came with it. Some pieces of the tuna were a little too chewy. But overall I'd say the best thing out of the four things we ordered. Like I said, if I were to come back here again, it would be to have a few drinks and maybe an appetizer or two.
