I've been to a lot of Korean spas across LA and Orange County like Century, Wi, and Crystal, so I know what to expect. A friend recommended this one and I thought it'd be fun to try something new, but this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. The only reason I'm even giving it two stars is because of the owner, Mr. Kim. He greeted me at the front, was very polite, and took time to explain everything even though I already knew how these spas work. His friendliness stood out, but that was the only positive part of my visit. Parking was easy and free, which was nice, and I got a spot right in front. The spa is inside a small indoor plaza that feels more like an outdated mini mall than a wellness spot, and the entrance is confusing. Once inside, everything felt cramped and outdated. The cold plunge and jacuzzi were ridiculously small, maybe two and a half feet deep, and you could barely fit two people without bumping elbows. The jacuzzi wasn't hot enough, the cold plunge wasn't cold at all, and the overall atmosphere didn't feel clean or rejuvenating. The amenities were just way below what you'd expect from a Korean spa. The sauna said 173 degrees but I sat there for over twenty minutes and didn't sweat once. The steam room was the opposite, dangerously hot. The steam comes out directly from a vent near the bottom, and if you're sitting anywhere close to it, it literally burns your legs. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's unsafe. Even sitting higher up, I had to constantly scoot away because of how intense the bursts of steam were. That should absolutely be fixed because it's a serious safety hazard. On top of that, the jacuzzi and cold plunge both had warning signs taped on the railings that said things like "Be careful, this is not strong, do not shake." That alone made me feel uneasy. If the metal railings aren't sturdy enough to lean on, they shouldn't be in use. It's something so simple to fix, and I don't understand how they're operating without addressing it. The common area wasn't comfortable either. There were a few massage chairs that you had to pay extra for and no real seating to relax. The orange uniforms were funny and bright, but it made the place look more like a gym than a spa. There are themed rooms like an oxygen room, but they don't offer much. I was planning to eat at the restaurant since the website said it was open, but when I asked, the staff told me it had been closed for a while. Honestly, that was probably for the best because the space is so small that food smells would've been overwhelming. They do offer a few small items like shaving cream, a disposable razor, and a scrub, which is thoughtful, but it doesn't make up for the lack of quality. Between the outdated facilities, safety hazards, and disappointing amenities, this place just isn't worth it. For the same price, I'd rather go to Joy Spa or Century Spa in Koreatown where you actually get what you pay for. Those places have better amenities, cleaner spaces, and real attention to comfort and safety. Pioneer Spa feels neglected, cramped, and uncomfortable. I left more tense than when I arrived and definitely won't be going back.

However, don't take everything at face value. During my first appointment, I waited and knocked but got no response. When I called, the therapist realized she had forgotten to schedule me. She felt bad and arrived 20 minutes later, offering a complimentary 30-minute massage. It was decent for 20 minutes, but the last 10 were spent trying to put on my faja, which was quite amusing. On the second day, I had to inform her about the pain I was experiencing since she was only focusing on my stomach. She suggested I keep my drains until Monday, but I left feeling pain and without any relief, missing that 'ahhh' feeling. My husband, hearing my discomfort, found Downey Skin & Body Therapy Clinic, which was open on the weekend. I made an appointment and was pleasantly surprised by what I encountered--WOW, it was incredibly relaxing, and the comprehensive session was out of this world. She also recommended removing my drains to prevent any complications. Additionally, I got my stage 2 faja, which I didn't even know I needed. I left feeling relieved--no more drains and a significant improvement. I've just scheduled my next appointment. Two thumbs up! I highly recommend this place; Lizet, you're amazing!

I've had a lot of massages over the years, but nothing like this. The massage was incredibly thoughtful and intuitive. Every knot, every area of tightness, Ann just knew how to work through it without rushing or going through the motions. The CBD helped calm everything down, especially my chronic pain and inflammation, and the scrub left my skin feeling unbelievably smooth. It was all done in a way that felt sacred, not clinical. You can tell they really care about the whole person, not just offering a service. They offer a subscription for people dealing with pain like me m. For me, that means I don't have to wait until I'm in a pain crisis to go in. I can stay consistent with care, which makes a big difference. It's not about luxury for me; it's about managing discomfort without depending on medication. Ann is the best; trust me just book and find out.

The sessions run about 90-minutes all together and they offer various package options from one-time sessions to more opportunities to return for free with the package. You can purchase and make appointments directly on their website as well as through ClassPass. When my friends and I arrived, we were welcomed by Ananta, who checked us in, had us sign waivers online and offered us tea. He led us in the breathwork session first, which was an invigorating yet relaxing experience at the same time. Immediately after the session, Ananta led us to the cold plunge where he gently encouraged us to dip in for about 2-minutes. The water was about 40 degrees and my feet were tingling and nearly numb by the time I got out. We did it though and it awakened our senses and got our blood circulating! We then, had the option of dipping in the hot tub or going in the saunas. I warmed up in the jacuzzi, then spent some time in the outdoor barrel steam sauna and infrared sauna. Before I knew it, our 90-minute session came to an end. They have showers for us to rinse off and I left with glowing skin and a lighter spirit. I will definitely be back for more healing and rejuvenation! Free street parking in the residential neighborhood.

A Hidden Oasis in Long Beach - Pure Paradise for Mind & Body…read more I honestly can't say enough good things about this place, it's a true hidden gem in the heart of Long Beach that feels like you've been transported far, far away. As soon as you walk in, the energy shifts. It's calm. Peaceful. Inviting. The kind of space where you instantly feel your shoulders drop and your mind start to slow down. They've created what feels like a tropical wellness retreat, but without ever leaving the city. The cold plunge alone is worth the visit. It's crisp, clean, and absolutely invigorating, and if you've read up on the benefits (reduced inflammation, better sleep, mood boosts), you'll appreciate just how much good it's doing while you shiver! Pair that with their sauna lineup, a traditional hot sauna, a jacuzzi, and beautifully lit infrared saunas and you've got everything you need to detox, decompress, and reset. They also guide you through breathing techniques that help deepen the whole experience. After just one session, I felt like I had taken a vacation without ever stepping on a plane. Whether you're a wellness junkie or just need a few hours to reconnect with yourself, this place is an absolute must. Long Beach has a true oasis, and I'm so grateful I found it. Highly recommend.
