After relocating to Houston, being new to the area we searched pretty much every security company…read morein town. Most of them seemed super salesy and gimmicky, and I don't like to play games -- especially when it comes to keeping my family and business safe. I just want a company that works hard and is honest with me, and sometimes it feels like I'm asking for too much. Anyway, when I called Optimus, I spoke with Thomas (who ended up doing the full install and has since been our regular contact). I'm not sure if he runs the whole show on his own, but he personally takes care of us -- he's super friendly and genuine and just seemed like an honest, knowledgeable guy from the first time we spoke. Admittedly, I'm quite picky with my home security system setup, and feel like I'm generally more knowledgeable than my security companies are (again, I hate having to deal with sales people). But Thomas has catered to every one of my nit-picky needs and questions without issue. In fact, he's taught me a couple of things about my alarm systems without making me feel dumb, which is unheard of when it comes to home security companies. Overall, Optimus has been an outstanding company to work with and Thomas has been such a breath of fresh air. Especially because I'm not always on-site, and he helps me when I'm remote. Sometimes I'm sure I can be a bit overbearing, but he's always helped me with everything. Quite honestly, he's helped me with just about everything -- save walking my dog -- but knowing Thomas, I bet he'd be kind enough to do it!

I received a prompt reply to my message. Joel came by and had an estimate to me a few hours later. He was clear about what could be done and what couldn't, and suggested alternatives when what I wanted to do wasn't practical. He did the work in a timely manner, and I am happy with both the result and the price. The only issue I had was scheduling a time, but that's largely due to my schedule. I tried contacting another networking company through Yelp, and didn't get responses to text messages after some original interest. I'd happily recommend sending this business a message.

Working on existing construction is difficult, but he was able to get the work completed with short lead time, at a fair price, and with good workmanship.

Holy Cow! You may want to think twice about using this company! I hired them to do a simple job. I…read moreneeded two Cat5 drops installed at my home and to mount two wireless access points. It turned out to be a fiasco! (It started on a Wednesday) He ran the drops but did not understand the instructions for using the Aruba wireless/ HPe access point mounting kits (part number: AP-220-MNT-W2W). In the process, he cut up and damaged one of the mounts as well as made over 8 screw holes in my ceiling. When he was "complete" he quickly took my check and left. Within the first hour of his departure, the AP's received power via POE, but no data. I immediately called and texted him about the issue. He assured me that he was currently going to his next job, but would return the following day (Thursday). The next morning, I texted him at around 8:30 am to confirm he would return that day to correct the cabling issues. I received a reply, that he was indeed planning on returning that day to fix things. At 2:22 pm, I once again texted him to see what the ETA was on returning. His reply was that he was finishing up a job and would text me when he was on the way. At 6:33 pm, I received no calls or texts, so I once again texted him to see if he was indeed still coming. The reply was "I'm heading to pull footage for the cops", whatever that means..... After that text, I never received a call or text again. Fast forward to Sunday, where I had to hire another cabler to come in and fix this guys shotty work. In short, he made several unnecessary holes in my ceiling, cut up and damaged an AP mount kit, and literally mis-wired the RJ-45 end connectors. He literally flipped the pinouts from left to right. In short, clearly, this guy is a jack-leg who doesn't know what he is doing with regards to Cat5 drops, RJ-45, Ethernet, and keystone connectors. He tried to take the "money and run", so I had to put a stop payment on the check.
