We have had company moves, overseas moves, and sometimes moved ourselves in a U-Haul. The most efficient way in our vast experience, is not to load the truck until all items are checked off and sitting on the driveway, which was the way Mayflower did things decades ago. Apparently this crew was trained to take items straight into the truck and fit them in as best they could, so they had to partially unload and reload the truck because their packing space was quite limited compared to what their boss allotted for. Poor communication and planning, inefficiency all caused by the owner PLUS lack of coordination topped off by shouting rudeness and maltreatment in the end by the owner... it all adds up to a "never-again" pledge for this senior citizen. I paid 30% higher than I expected from the original quote and they left me frazzled.

I had a miserable moving experience with this company. First, they were supposed to bring 5 boxes,…read morea wardrobe and packing tape which they did not. I was told the furniture would be wrapped in moving blankets and plastic so nothing would be harmed. A treadmill set down in the wrong place, and when I asked him to turn it around, it ended up at an angle into the room. It was very difficult for my friend and me to get it into the right place. The recliner was not plugged in and the plug was under the chair, so a friend and I had to move the chair in order to get to the plug and plug it in. Things were left in my old apartment, such as boxes, a folding chair, a router, speakers and other small items. I was moving from one apartment to another in the very same building, so there was no truck involved. Part of my Cpap machine went missing and it took me over a week and $159 to replace it. When I went back upstairs the next day to retrieve all the items they left in my old apartment, the bedroom window was wide open and the toilet seat up, indicating little regard when they were done. The large dresser was still wrapped in plastic (no moving blankets were under the plastic) after they left, and I had not found scissors or a knife yet so I had to peel it with my fingers to get to my clothing and the wrap is still behind the dresser where I stuffed it because I could not move the dresser to unwrap it properly. The two men acted very friendly and charming but did not live up to what was promised. I called the company the next day and asked for some kind of compensation for the errors. All they offered was to send somebody back two days later to pick up the things that were left behind. Because I could not keep the keys to my old apartment, that was not a satisfactory solution. I thought they should have reimbursed me some of the money I spent - $550 to move a 424 square foot apt with no appliances. Promises were not kept. The relocube through U-Pack was the best deal if you take into consideration cost and the process of driving 27 hours with a u-haul. We had a pretty tight timeline for unloading our cube in Portland, so we opted for the guaranteed delivery option and it arrived at 9:00am when they had given us a delivery window of 8:00am-12:00pm. Every step in the process was great. The customer service when we called to ask questions about reserving the cube was extremely friendly and helpful. The drivers that dropped the cubed off in both Kansas City and Portland were polite and friendly. We followed the packing instructions and were sure our cube was packed tight. Not a single thing moved or broke on the journey. The cube fit easily in my fiance's driveway in Kansas City and fit perfectly into a street parking spot at our new apartment in Portland. It was clean and spacious (the 8 foot height gives you a lot of room you don't initially realize). We fit a bed/box spring/frame/headboard, a couch, a kitchen table, a bike, 3 box wardrobes of clothes, 3 large boxes of personal belongings, and tons of boxes of wedding shower and wedding gifts into the cube. At the end, I was worried we would not have enough stuff to fill it tightly enough to prevent anything moving. I would definitely use U-Pack again!
