My son will begin his third year at Hope and I couldn't be more excited for him. Communication, consistency, acceptance, open doors and love fuel the future my son is building! The many events and opportunities for Hope families to socialize, the teachers and the staff ate things I am always thrilled to share with parents looking for a home for their child. We toured other schools in the east valley and from the moment I walked through the doors at Hope Academy I KNEW if I found the right school for him. His has grown academically, socially and in his independence. I can't share enough positive things, or this would be a book, please see for yourself!

Teaching students with autism is hard but also rewarding. Patience and creativity help students grow and build strong relationships. The parents are often supportive. Working here is challenging, marked by administrative dysfunction and frustration. The commitment of dedicated colleagues and the growth and enthusiasm of students provide meaningful rewards, offering optimism even in difficult times. The biggest problem at this school is the administration. They change class schedules, para placement, and student roster at the last minute, even after the school day starts. This leaves teachers, paras, and students confused and unprepared. Because of this, students wander the halls not knowing where to go, and teachers have to change their lesson plans at the last minute. Teachers ask for important extra help for students with autism, but the administration usually ignores or gives bad suggestions. Administrators rarely intervene appropriately when staff manage difficult behaviors, leaving vague guidance. Co-workers share advice and rely on each other's experience to maintain best practices. Their empathy offsets the administration's shortcomings. For example, teachers repeatedly ask for extra help for students who often get overwhelmed. The administration does nothing other than offer physical and verbal threats to the child, so the teacher has to make do and the student misses out on learning, even if it leads to a staff member or student getting hurt. Administrators give mixed instructions about rules, so the same student can be treated differently depending on the day. These problems happen all the time, making school unpredictable and stressful. Parents should know these are daily problems, not rare events, and they hurt the quality of education. Pay is random and unfair. Sometimes people with less experience make more than others. The administration does not explain pay or show appreciation for staff. Many good teachers leave because of the administration, so students have new teachers in the middle of the year. This makes learning hard and routines are always changing. It is tough for students to build trust and get the help they need. Parents should know that people leave because of bad management, not because of the teachers or students or parents. Leaders have little to no training in leadership and special education. There are too many students for the staff to handle, so students do not get enough help. Staff do not get the training or support they really need, and sometimes students are not safe. Teachers and staff try their best but do not have what they need. The administration uses IEPs in random ways and sometimes blames staff for no reason. Still, teachers work together to help students as much as they can. All these problems are because the administration does not have enough experience and does not support staff or students. Teachers and students try their best, but parents should know these problems start with the administration. This school is run by a family, and there is favoritism and poor leadership. The administration ignores big problems and focuses on small things. Because of these issues, the quality of education suffers. Parents should be careful when choosing this school. Every day at this school is stressful because the administration does not plan well, changes things at the last minute, and there are not enough staff. Teachers and students have to figure things out alone and do not get help. The administration does not tell parents what is happening, so families are confused and upset. Even with all these problems, teachers and students do their best. To deal with these challenges, parents should ask teachers and staff direct questions about their child's day and any changes. Ask for written updates or clear information about schedules and staff. If you have concerns, write them down and share them with teachers and the administration. Working with other parents can help you get better answers and support for your child.
