Small burger shop on the street corner, slinging some really good char-broiles burgers! I got the double and I was very full after it. Filling, flavorful burgers. I also added regular fries to my order. My husband got onion rings and curly fries with his mushroom burger. This place never disappoints and never skimps on servings. Good portions for great prices! We also had to throw in a medium chocolate milkshake and an oreo milkshake! So good. I'd highly recommend them. We ordered to go, as the shop is pretty small when it comes to seating. Customer Service is also, excellent. The two that helped me were very nice. Can't wait to go back! read more

O.M.G. This, honestly, must be the world's best burger. I had the double cheeseburger with bacon -- mounds of bacon -- and all the fixings. It was a monument to excess. Honestly, this burger -- and Smokey's -- supplanted my standard by which all burger, barbecue, and fries are measured. The store is very humble, so don't go there expecting the Taj Mahal. I found long ago that treating people the same way you expect to be treated is the key to being treated well. That goes a long way here. Patience pays off, too... a lesson lost on some of the whiny "I-am-so-important" people that complained about the need to wait for their food, people who -- coincidentally -- promised bad ratings while complaining to everyone within earshot... while waiting for some of the world's best food. Prices are surprisingly affordable. Did I mention that they make the absolute best onion rings? We asked for "extra crispy" and they were cooked perfectly. Yumm. read more

I've eaten burgers on that corner for many many years! Like when it was Arctic Circle way back early 1970's the The Dew Drive In and eventually Smokey's!! I stayed away for a spell because the burgers changed and became inconsistent and some burgers were just bad... But I decided to try them out again and WOW! What a terrific experience in delicious! The burgers taste great again!! I've eaten there 3 times in the last week!!! The cheese sticks are amazing the burgers are BURGERLICIOUS!!! Thanks for grabbing me back Smokey's! See you soon! It's back and has been for a while. Whatever they changed, it's good. Now, about adding an entree salad to the menu.....

Been eating here for years. Ownership changed a few years back, but the food never did. It's still absolutely the best burger in town. Service is quick. Orders to go by phone are very easy. There's a bar with three or four seats not really a sit down to eat place. Picnic table outdoors. I usually grab and go home. read more

This is the type of tiny local business that I LIVE FOR. Friendly staff. Relaxed atmosphere. My visit order: - Shrimp & chips. - Hamburger with everything. - Banana shake. Took less than the 10 minute wait, they said, for my order to be ready. The food was HOT and FRESH! The shrimp was SPECTACULAR with cocktail sauce. The burger disappeared. Not sure where it went. It was just TOO DELICIOUS to exist outside my belly for long. The banana shake? THICK and heavenly. Bring a BOBA STRAW. Their straws WILL NOT WORK. Krinkle cut fries were meaty and perfectly salted. I'm not usually a fan of krinkle cut, but they were quite good! I need to re-visit to try their fish & chips, and chicken sandwich! read more

Char Boiled delicious burgers are why I keep coming back to this local joint. One the 8th Day GOD created Smokey's Char Broiled! This is why I keep coming back to this local joint. ALL HAIL THE BURGER GOD! Smokey's Char Broiled is the beluga caviar of South Seattle Burgers, except their not served with Cristal Champagne but Coca Cola. This is " Best Grease" in Seattle hands down, ANYONE WANNA ARGUE ABOUT THAT? My definite go to burger joint when I'm heading to Burien and the burger craving happens. In my professional burger experience Smokey's Char Broiled delivers a quality & taste in my burger every time I come.  Now the fresh bacon & double meat patty's allows you taste not only the grease of bacon and but the juice of the burger when they merge together like two hearts. GREAT BURGERS!!! Super great place to eat, and way better people working there. You can tell by their attitude that this is no fast food. Very clean lace, to boot! read more

Been here a few times. Service was always friendly and pricing is also fair. My issue is the flavor. There is nothing smokey about this place. Nothing about the experience stands out. Burgers are messy and made fresh, but in the end, it taste no better than anything you make at home and why would you go out for what you can do yourself. They need more options, fresher veggies and a stronger drink selection. The burger game is stacked and this place is below average. read more

Been going here for 15+ years since high school & Smokey's has always been solid. I always get the mushroom burger with onion rings (dip in fry sauce) & chocolate shake. If I feel like switching the sides up, I do mozzarella sticks or jalapeño poppers. Everything's made to order so if it's quite busy you might have to wait. read more

Stopped for a burger after a 6 mile hike to Seahurst Park. I'd say this place is a diamond in the rough. The appearance inside and out, definitely leaves a lot to be desired. The food service score posted is "excellent" so my first impression was definitely proven wrong. Pretty busy on a Saturday, since only 3 people are allowed in the lobby at once (social distancing) - the line was out the door. I ordered a bacon cheese burger, which came with crinkle fries (my fave!) and a soda (Pepsi products) for $9.95. Not a bad deal for a meal. My husband ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with onion rings. Their onion rings were great! I even added one to my burger for some crunch texture! Overall, great food - quick service & not a bad price! read more

We've lived here 20 years. Something happened..I don't know when. Burgers are so thin you can barely see them. Onion rings..6 in a bag? And overcooked? Not what it used to be. I don't know if it's new owners, but if it is, do it different. read more

I have been a customer for years, and today I picked pieces of steel wool out of my mouth while eating a bacon cheeseburger from Smokey's. That plus the health department rating this place as unclean is a wrap for me. If they decide to clean the place and the health department rates their cleanliness as great, then I will consider returning. Otherwise, there are plenty of other places to eat that take cleanliness seriously. read more

Smokey's Char Broiled - Pieces of steel wool in my bacon cheeseburger today, 3/15/2024. - Burgers Near Me - Burien, Washington

Small unassuming burger shop in Burien that delivers pretty delicious burgers! Was in Burien today for some personal errands and found this place close by the location I was. Since I'm in a no carb month, I decided to go and ask for a no bun double bacon cheeseburger. They don't do lettuce wrapping but offered to put it in a box. After a few minutes I got my burger and set out to eat it on a bench. The burger looked spectacular, and tasted fantastic. The bacon was perfectly prepared, I regret not asking for double bacon I usually ask for grilled onions when available, but today I didn't and just got what they offer, which is raw onions I believe. Well I loved it, it was really tasty, I think the bun would have made it even better. I'll definitely be back if/when I'll need to be in Burien again. read more

Excellent grilled old-fashioned burgers! Better than fast food chain restaurants by far.

Excellent Char broiled hamburger. I love their bacon burger. Lettuce Tomatoes and Onions. Fries are really good. Crinkle cut and great with fry sauce. You can order over the web. Not any room for eating in store, plan on pickup and go. Burgers taste grill done on flat top grill. read more

I've been eating here for years and always had good burgers and fries. Something has changed with the burgers and not for the better. The meat is different. Paper thin and unbelievably tough. I made it halfway through and tossed the rest. Fries are still nice. Sorry Smokeys. Please go back to the other meat. read more

Sunday is my day to get takeout. That's only a rule for me because I'd do it every night if I didn't resist. But, if there's one thing people say about me, it's that I'm a total loose cannon. So tonight, a Saturday night, I put in an online order at Smokey's Char Broiled. This time, I wavered. I went back and forth between getting the bacon cheese burger and the double bacon cheese burger. "You're 40 now," and "you're getting pretty fat" are all things that crossed my mind as I went back and forth, but damnit, I'm a loose cannon, so I got the double. Fat and 40 can wait until tomorrow. I got there around 7:20 PM, and there was no where to park. Note that I didn't say the lot was full. More specifically, people aren't good at parking. I waited patiently for someone to leave their 1.5 spots and I smoothly slid in. Inside, it was clear I'd just missed the rush. One lady was on her way out and I alone was left. A warm greeting came from the tall man at the counter and I let him know I had an order waiting. With an authentic thank you and some well wishes, he handed me my bag and I was on my way. Once home, everything was just as I'd expected before. The double bacon cheese burger had just the right amount of toppings, the bun to meat ratio was perfect. The curly fries were crispy and delightful and the price was right. In my last review, I had commented that the meat perhaps needed a bit more seasoning, but I didn't feel this way this time, so whatever changed, they got it right. Overall, great visit, Smokey's Char Broiled. See you again soon. read more

Nice to see your back open, I'll stop in soon, are things still the same?? Did they just make you add more refrig and freezer? Crazy all the years open and they flip out over the smallest things, see you soon. And yes it's always been good food here. read more

always love this place & chicken sandwiches as big as your face! The fish is light & crispy too and punch cards are appreciated!

Wonderful place to eat at, generous portions for a fraction of the price you'd get elsewhere. Food was very fresh and crispy, what a wonderful blend of perfectly cooked meat and fresh cut veggies. The onion rings and French fries, along with the burger were all made to order, no heat lamps here, I had a lovely experience. The staff themselves were forward and friendly, they're clearly professionals who know how this whole thing works, whoever trained this team needs to be commended for their leadership and dedication. The man on the grill has mastered his craft, with the burger being far from burnt and fully cooked, he's a true bastion of grill masters everywhere and someone who I felt needed to be acknowledged. Location wise, it's a nice, quaint little spot, it felt like I was in the kitchen with them, they made me feel like part of the kitchen crew, what an experience. read more

Desperate after months of island living I have been trying joint by joint to find a simple and delicious hamburger. So many require the salad bar, the barn and condiment rack to make it tasty. Craved a Red Mill level burger and I found it here. Simple beyond words. Made fresh. Bacon delicious. If you are looking for destination onion rings....you have found them! It's a messy car but just plan ahead with abundant napkins. read more

The service was terrible! The quality of food has gone down remarkably since the new management obviously! My order was wrong and they overcharged me! Are used to love this place been going to it for 20 years I'm sad to say I'll never go there again! And would definitely not recommend it! FYI I think they're using free three day old buns from the bakery! read more

Until today, this used to be one of my favorite burger places. First off, the deep-fried mushrooms were soggy. Gross. And I had to go back for my fries, which were left out of the order entirely. By the time I got back home (for the 2nd time) with my fries, the burger was cold. Service? Well, I tried calling about the fries and nobody would answer the phone. When I got there, she remembered me and asked if she had left something out, I told her the fries. Without replying, she went to the back, prepared another order, and handed that one off. Then she went to the back again to get my fries. When I told her I had tried calling, she ignored me. When I asked her if the phone was broken, she ignored me again. She handed the fries to me without saying a word. No apology, no nothing. The ambiance in there has always been awful. Seats are hard and uncomfortable. One is not encouraged to spend any time there, but then it's pretty small, so I'm guessing they need to get people on their way back out the door quickly. read more

This place is pretty good! Don't let my 3 Star rating fool ya lol I Really wish I could leave a 3.5 star Ratings! Their Double Bacon Cheeseburger with Mushrooms (Mushrooms is extra) is their best by far! It's a big ol burger that takes two hands to handle properly! Fries are crinkle cut and are ok always add salt when I get home. Their onion rings are ok too and depending on how recent they made/bought the fried mushrooms it's hit or miss. I tried their version of the Philly cheesesteak and it's a hard pass mostly cause they add lettuce to it??? Who does that! Lol If you want a classic Big ol Cheeseburger Burger on a sesame seed bun this is your place it's not fancy or out of this world but it's Big, Tasty, & filling for around $7-$9 bucks. It's a great meal and I'm glad they are in the neighborhood! read more

Good price n good food I'm definitely coming back I even got a punch card the milkshake was great aswell

Glad I used yelp to look for a bite to eat when I was in this area! I could smell it as I was driving up...and that alone made me hungrier... Basic burger place...basic pricing!,, Always a win! It was all good...got a cheeseburger and a shake...prices more reasonable than most places for what you get...and actually, while the burger was good, I had a blackberry milkshake that was substantially better than expected...and not just a cheap version with flavored syrup, but could taste pieces of blackberry in there as well! Major kudos! I look forward to going back when I'm in the area...and may be inclined to make a specific trip every now & then just because it was that good while being relatively basic...no particular bells & whistles, just a decent meal at a fair price...honestly, driving up, the outside appearance certainly doesn't "wow" anyone at all...in fact, you might wonder..."is this really it?"...IT IS...and you should definitely check it out if that's what you're looking to eat... read more
