O.M.G. This, honestly, must be the world's best burger. I had the double cheeseburger with bacon -- mounds of bacon -- and all the fixings. It was a monument to excess. Honestly, this burger -- and Smokey's -- supplanted my standard by which all burger, barbecue, and fries are measured. The store is very humble, so don't go there expecting the Taj Mahal. I found long ago that treating people the same way you expect to be treated is the key to being treated well. That goes a long way here. Patience pays off, too... a lesson lost on some of the whiny "I-am-so-important" people that complained about the need to wait for their food, people who -- coincidentally -- promised bad ratings while complaining to everyone within earshot... while waiting for some of the world's best food. Small burger shop on the street corner, slinging some really good char-broiles burgers! I got the double and I was very full after it. Filling, flavorful burgers. I also added regular fries to my order. My husband got onion rings and curly fries with his mushroom burger. This place never disappoints and never skimps on servings. Good portions for great prices! We also had to throw in a medium chocolate milkshake and an oreo milkshake! So good. I'd highly recommend them. We ordered to go, as the shop is pretty small when it comes to seating. I've eaten burgers on that corner for many many years! Like when it was Arctic Circle way back early 1970's the The Dew Drive In and eventually Smokey's!! Been here a few times. Service was always friendly and pricing is also fair. My issue is the flavor. There is nothing smokey about this place. Nothing about the experience stands out. Burgers are messy and made fresh, but in the end, it taste no better than anything you make at home and why would you go out for what you can do yourself. That plus the health department rating this place as unclean is a wrap for me. If they decide to clean the place and the health department rates their cleanliness as great, then I will consider returning. Stopped for a burger after a 6 mile hike to Seahurst Park. I'd say this place is a diamond in the rough. The appearance inside and out, definitely leaves a lot to be desired. The food service score posted is "excellent" so my first impression was definitely proven wrong. Pretty busy on a Saturday, since only 3 people are allowed in the lobby at once (social distancing) - the line was out the door. I ordered a bacon cheese burger, which came with crinkle fries (my fave!) and a soda (Pepsi products) for $9.95. Not a bad deal for a meal. My husband ordered a crispy chicken sandwich with onion rings. Their onion rings were great! I even added one to my burger for some crunch texture! Small unassuming burger shop in Burien that delivers pretty delicious burgers! Was in Burien today for some personal errands and found this place close by the location I was. Since I'm in a no carb month, I decided to go and ask for a no bun double bacon cheeseburger. They don't do lettuce wrapping but offered to put it in a box. After a few minutes I got my burger and set out to eat it on a bench. The burger looked spectacular, and tasted fantastic. The bacon was perfectly prepared, I regret not asking for double bacon I usually ask for grilled onions when available, but today I didn't and just got what they offer, which is raw onions I believe. Well I loved it, it was really tasty, I think the bun would have made it even better. I'll definitely be back if/when I'll need to be in Burien again. read more

Sunday is my day to get takeout. That's only a rule for me because I'd do it every night if I didn't resist. But, if there's one thing people say about me, it's that I'm a total loose cannon. So tonight, a Saturday night, I put in an online order at Smokey's Char Broiled. This time, I wavered. I went back and forth between getting the bacon cheese burger and the double bacon cheese burger. "You're 40 now," and "you're getting pretty fat" are all things that crossed my mind as I went back and forth, but damnit, I'm a loose cannon, so I got the double. Fat and 40 can wait until tomorrow. I got there around 7:20 PM, and there was no where to park. Note that I didn't say the lot was full. More specifically, people aren't good at parking. I waited patiently for someone to leave their 1.5 spots and I smoothly slid in. Inside, it was clear I'd just missed the rush. One lady was on her way out and I alone was left. A warm greeting came from the tall man at the counter and I let him know I had an order waiting. With an authentic thank you and some well wishes, he handed me my bag and I was on my way. Once home, everything was just as I'd expected before. The double bacon cheese burger had just the right amount of toppings, the bun to meat ratio was perfect. The curly fries were crispy and delightful and the price was right. In my last review, I had commented that the meat perhaps needed a bit more seasoning, but I didn't feel this way this time, so whatever changed, they got it right. Wonderful place to eat at, generous portions for a fraction of the price you'd get elsewhere. Food was very fresh and crispy, what a wonderful blend of perfectly cooked meat and fresh cut veggies. The onion rings and French fries, along with the burger were all made to order, no heat lamps here, I had a lovely experience. The staff themselves were forward and friendly, they're clearly professionals who know how this whole thing works, whoever trained this team needs to be commended for their leadership and dedication. The man on the grill has mastered his craft, with the burger being far from burnt and fully cooked, he's a true bastion of grill masters everywhere and someone who I felt needed to be acknowledged. Until today, this used to be one of my favorite burger places. First off, the deep-fried mushrooms were soggy. Gross. And I had to go back for my fries, which were left out of the order entirely. By the time I got back home (for the 2nd time) with my fries, the burger was cold. Service? Well, I tried calling about the fries and nobody would answer the phone. When I got there, she remembered me and asked if she had left something out, I told her the fries. Without replying, she went to the back, prepared another order, and handed that one off. Then she went to the back again to get my fries. When I told her I had tried calling, she ignored me. When I asked her if the phone was broken, she ignored me again. She handed the fries to me without saying a word. No apology, no nothing. The ambiance in there has always been awful. Seats are hard and uncomfortable. One is not encouraged to spend any time there, but then it's pretty small, so I'm guessing they need to get people on their way back out the door quickly. read more

It was all good...got a cheeseburger and a shake...prices more reasonable than most places for what you get...and actually, while the burger was good, I had a blackberry milkshake that was substantially better than expected...and not just a cheap version with flavored syrup, but could taste pieces of blackberry in there as well! Major kudos!
