What a smoky bbq that pork ribs were so amazing tenderness, tasty n delicious!!! The meats pork were cooking right on with yummy barbecue sauce on top!! A side dish of potatoes salad plus soda drinks that it was perfect lunch on the weekend!! Service was counter top n they served customers well communication and efficient!! They have the seating inside ice chilling with air conditioning if we get hot even in the winter time!!! Plus outside seating with a rooftop ... it's warm n sunny in the winter time too!!

I tried it because I was told that it was one of the 2 best BBQ joints in Tucson. Hmmmm, not impressed at all. I ordered a small combo plate of ribs and sliced brisket (sliced with the grain and not cross it as it should have been) and my sides were greens and coleslaw. I did not see the sign that said all of their meats were sauced, but if I saw it, I would not have had them put sauce on anything. As someone who smokes a lot of food, when I taste meat, I want to taste the meat and the seasoning and the smoke itself. The ribs and brisket were very tender, but all I could taste was the vinegar in the barbecue sauce. It completely ruins the meal for me because if I wanted to drink barbecue sauce, I would've asked them for a side of it with a straw. I did not taste the meat, I did not taste the seasoning, I did not taste the smoke. I also believe that if a pitmaster floods their product with barbecue sauce, they are hiding something. So I can't tell you anything about the meats other than everything tasted like barbecue sauce. For the side dishes, I got the coleslaw which was tasty and the greens. You can see the picture I took after I finished the greens and it looked like I had a cup of soup. I don't know why they wouldn't drain the water out of the greens. Since I was the only one in the restaurant, I was also surprised that nobody came up to me and asked me how the food was. They were all busy on their phones or talking to each other than to check with one of their paying customers if they were enjoying their food. The place itself, physically, I liked because it was a hole in the wall type atmosphere. I don't think I would've chosen contemporary hip-hop for my guests to hear. So that's it, I'm giving it two stars only because the tenderness of the meat, but definitely not because of any other flavoring I tasted. I also felt it was extremely overpriced for the portion size. I tried it, now I can write a review and know that I will never go back again.

Excellent barbecue, the brisket was MOIST! Loved the sides and coleslaw as well as the big squares of cornbread. Service was very friendly. The only downside is there's not a lot of shaded seating if you want to eat outside. My brother got the ribs and ate the whole slab. It was a great lunch. Also they have Coke Zero which is a huge plus to me. Big enough parking lot too.

We've been looking for a local BBQ spot and this was a great find! The signature bbq sauce tastes like it maybe has curry in it? But overall a great Kansas City bbq. The seating is limited inside so much better as a to go option, the service was quick though! We tried the burnt ends and rib tips, both cooked to perfection. The side of potato salad was also a hefty portion. The only miss was the Mac n cheese, it looked and tasted like something from the grocery store refrigerated section.

This is a business which was a real pleasure to support. We were fortunate to have eaten here. Kansas City BBQ. Mild, not salty, fall off the bone tender. Brisket literally melted in the mouth. Ribs were perfectly done and soft/delectable. My chicken was thoroughly cooked and not greasy nor dry. Sides: Exceptional collard greens. Not salty. Perfect! Beans: NOT SWEET thank God! Perfect! Coleslaw: lightly dressed the way it should be! This business deserves all the love and praise. FIVE GLOWING STARS! Best wishes, Deborah and Gary from Toronto, Canada.

This is definitely a hole in the wall, but that can lead to some surprises. We got a combo plate and a sandwich. The sandwich was good, but they had just one sauce which was too tomato forward. The brisket on the sandwich was good, but the platter's brisket was a good portion of fat. The turkey tasted like deli turkey with no smoke ring. The mac was good, a little watery. The potato salad was good. The cornbread would've been great if they used honey instead of syrup. The price wasn't hole in the wall prices. I'm glad I tried it out, but probably won't go again.

Small building surrounded by a delicate aroma of smoking meats, and it smells delicious!! Small parking lot gets full when busy. Ambiance/Cleanliness-A KC, MO kinda vibe. Very clean. Indoor seating, cozy tables. 4 stars. Service-Warm and welcoming...efficient. 4 stars. Food. Have had dry rub wings, rib tips and brisket. The brisket was above average, but meats come sauced unless requested otherwise, so I couldnt check bark. Wings are up there with the best, smokey and flavorful. Rib tips also excellent. Sauce is thick with horseradish and celery seed. 4 stars

Went in person on a weeknight and ordered to go. Service was ok, not friendly but not rude. We ordered the 3 meats 3 sides combo with pulled pork, ribs, and brisket and for the sides, fries, mac and cheese, and potato salad. The meats were tender but needed more sauce. The fries were awful, almost burned and some fries were hard and some soggy and very greasy. we had to throw those away. The Mac and cheese and potato salad were good. There is seating inside and out.

Bob N.

The one thing I don't like about barbecue places is coming out smelling like I've just been smoked myself. That being said, I truly do appreciate this place because it's a simple menu and the prices were not too bad. The lady at the front was very friendly and I appreciated her promptness and getting my order ready so the service was excellent with that regards. They also told me originally that they ran out of chicken, but they didn't and made my order happen. I like the outdoor seating and the inside seating was not too shabby. But I would prefer sitting outside, especially if you can tolerate the shaded area and not coming out like smoke. The barbecue was pretty good and I just wish there was more sauce smothered all over my chicken. I'm a saucy type of guy if you're in the neck of the woods for this place, then please stop by.

Mac, potato salad, brisket and pulled pork.

Best BBQ in Tucson, hands down. Went with a group, got to try the ribs, brisket, pulled pork, and chicken tacos. Ribs were smokey and had a great sauce. Brisket was moist, same with the pulled pork. Also, the tacos were insanely good, was a great surprise. Otherwise, food came out quick and hot, its a lot of food so be aware, you may be taking left overs. The owner was super friendly and the interior/exterior is a clean nice area. Really excited this place exists in Tuscon, after having BBQ in Texas and North Carolina, its great to finally have a solid, honest to god BBQ place. read more

My favorite place in Arizona. Staff is SUPER friendly, food is delicious. My personal favorites are the tri tip, brisket, and beans. Everything is full of flavor, and the sauces make it even better. Delicious homemade tea. It is a little sweet, so I recommend diluting it with unsweetened tea. The waiter will give you a new bun free of charge. Close to downtown, so you will be able to get there from work. The portions are just right for you to eat, then have the leftovers for dinner the next day. You can smell the food from about ten yards avay from the building. Hard to miss sign. read more

Best barbecue in Tucson and amazing service. The people here go out of their way to make you feel at home. I've been looking for good barbecue in Tucson since I moved here 5 years ago and have had no luck until now. People raved about various places, but I'd be consistently disappointed. Then I tried SMs. The food was incredible--the ribs, pulled pork, turkey and brisket (got the sampler). And the Mac and cheese and beans were delicious. The collard greens are a little spicy for my taste but everything else was fantastic. I've been back many times, and it has always hit the spot. one recommendation is that the beans sometimes need to be cooked longer. But other than that, it is my favorite smokehouse. read more

First time here and I'm so happy I got out and tried Smokey Mo! I saw Smokey Mo on Yelp last year but didn't get a chance to try til now. Mo is really friendly and nice! I got the pulled pork sandwich with collard greens and a drink. The BBQ sauce smelled so good! I practically inhaled the sandwich. The bun was slightly soaked from the sauce (not complaining) and it was stuffed with pork, which was soft and so flavorful! It didn't look really big to me, but I was full after eating the sandwich and could only have half of the collard greens. The collard greens were really good too. They were hot, dense, but not mushy. I can't wait to try more of what they have here read more

It's a tiny joint in the old Shari's Drive in building, but there is nothing tiny about the friendliness of the staff or the tritip ribs, which is what I ordered. O.m.g., they were good. Just about perfect, in fact: succulent, perfectly smoked, lots of meat, with a yummy sauce (and extra on the side). I was hungry for meat, so didn't try the sides, but I will next time; that jalapeño corn bread sounded good. And you don't expect as much service from a counter restaurant as got..they brought me napkins twice, refilled my drink, and were really interested in how well I was enjoying the food. I loved that you could really taste the smokey taste and that everything was fresh, juicy, and tender. The baked beans were the kind of love, with pieces of pork throughout the mixture. Because we split this platter (with leftovers), it was quite a good deal. When the bill came, the waitress listed a bunch of things that qualified for an extra discount, so we scored an additional 10% off for being seniors. If I lived in Tucson, this place would be on my regular restaurant rotation, which is high praise indeed!

This restaurant has jazz every Sunday afternoon from 2-5p.m. Absolutely incredible musicians and singer! The crowd was festively dressed and happy and truly enjoying this music. We got shareable appetizers, the burnt end nachos with brisket and fried buffalo cauliflower florets with ranch dressing. Both delicious!! I had the Old Forester 1920 whiskey- 1 Oz and that was plenty! The bartender served us water as well as we had sat up at bar. The was professional and quite efficient. Before we left, I asked bartender what I could get to bring home for my dog- thinking he would laugh at me, but he told me he does same for his dog and that he eats better than him. We laughed when I said "same!" He suggested the tacos and would separate out the pulled pork from the onions, cotija cheese and jalapeños- and did! Kai loved that I brought her home "tacos!"Thank you for a great afternoon, Brother John's!!

My Uber driver was raving about it on the way over, which sealed the deal. While the cheap beer does require a food purchase, I was planning to eat anyway--no complaints there. I went with the 3-for-$11 taco deal and it was more than enough food. You get to choose between green or red salsa; I went with the green, which definitely has a nice kick. I asked the server if they could mix it up with two brisket tacos and one pork belly, and they were happy to accommodate. After reading some mixed reviews, I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised--nothing was dry or overly fatty. Everything was flavorful and delicious. My total for four 10-oz beers and three tacos was just over $20, which is an incredible deal for the quality and amount of food and drink. I came to watch the U of A basketball game, and this place is perfect for it--plenty of TVs, tons of seating, and even space for large groups. There's also a covered outdoor patio with lots of seating, plus foosball and cornhole. Parking was easy, too. I sat at the bar, struck up a great conversation, and found the patrons to be super friendly. Overall, a great vibe all around. Highly recommend Cheap Beer Tuesdays: $2 for a 10-oz pour and $4 for a 20-oz pour. Easily one of the best beer deals in town. I'll definitely be back!

The ribs and brisket are so good they don't need any sauce added, but Black Market provides sauce for those who want it. They also have chicken and pulled pork. This restaurant was a great find! We stopped for lunch after grabbing coffee down the street and had a great experience. The pulled pork was delicious, smoky and not too fatty with great sauce and sides. The cole slaw was light and refreshing, the beans were a little less thick than I'm used to sauce wise but still delicious. We shared a plate and had a good amount of food for a light lunch from that. The service was wonderful - we felt welcomed from the minute we got there and the owner shared lots of great info.
