I ordered a half rack of Signature Ribs with Coleslaw and Baked Beans. It came with a piece of Texas Toast. The ribs were excellent! The baked beans were the sweetest of any restaurant baked beans I've ever had. I enjoyed them thoroughly. My lunch was delicious. The waiter was very friendly, not so much knowledgeable, because he had to ask someone and return with an answer. To the food--the fire roasted corn looked delicious, but the texture was mushy. The coleslaw tasted fresh and crunchy and seemed to be homemade. The meat selection was extensive, but there was no sampler platter available, unless you were willing to spend $$$. I ordered the Two meat sampler, which did not include BBQ ribs or Brisket. If you wanted either meat, it cost an additional $5.00 each. It seemed there were no substitutions on the sides. Every extra or substitute cost at least 1 to 2 dollars. My pulled pork and 1/4 chicken sampler platter were deprived of SMOKE flavor. We arrived for early dinner at 5:30. There weren't too many tables filled so when we changed our mind about the booth, we were easily accommodated and moved to a table. We ordered cornbread as our appetizer after reading some reviews on yelp, and it was delicious and the maple bourbon butter was amazing. I was able to take some home with me. I ordered the pick three meats, and I have the sausage, the pulled pork And the barbecue chicken breast. My sides were coleslaw and steak fries I would not order the steak fries again because they were overcooked and they weren't very many of them. The coleslaw was really tasty and reminiscent of like the old KFC or Chick-fil-A coleslaw so I loved it. I ate the sausage there had quite a kick, but it was delicious and had the pop that natural casing makes when it's been fried. My friend had the sausage and chicken as well and we both had plenty to take home. Our waitress was very attentive, but then let us talk to our contents, since there was very few patrons inside yet overall a really good experience that based out the tables quite a bit and they probably put a few more in there but they definitely don't need to. I remember coming here right after Covid and thinking that's why the tables had so much space but it's still the same way now, I know they do it partially so if they have big tables, they can easily add the tables together to make larger groups. The fire roasted corn was just burnt bland corn kernels. The mashed potato's with brown gravy was whipped up from a box and the gravy is from a can. The presentation in itself will tell you exactly how it tastes. Don't get me wrong, there are many times that how it looks will fool you but not this time. This place needs to put up a sign that apologizes to everyone that has eaten here and then apologize to all the cooks that really cook BBQ. Smokey Bones was a staple for me when I was younger living in Northwest Indiana. When I went off to college, I was sad when they were no longer in business. Fast forward years later (not sharing how many) I see it has re-emerged in Avon. I had to try it right away. Of course, going on a Saturday means the restaurant being packed but never fear,bar seating is available. I started with a pork belly appetizer and chose a pulled pork sandwich and half slab rib combo with two sides. The presentation was beautiful and the food was decent. I had heard they were going to reopen Smokey Bones in Avon so I was super excited to see it coming back. I had been here several times before it shut down and I use to like the BBQ a lot. I received the menu and decided on the platter with brisket and pulled pork. i also added the side of corn and french fries. The service was pretty good throughout our time dinning here. I didn't like the brisket as much as I thought I would it was quite thick piece and I think multiple thinner pieces would be better. it tasted ok and the sauce choices were pretty good. I like the tangy and hot sauce. The pulled pork was pretty good but is a but dry. The toast is a good accompaniment with the brisket. Overall I would return as the restaurant service was good and I love BBQ and the renovated space looks very nice inside. read more

I'm sad my picture of the grill with all the meats didn't save for some reason. Anyway I think that was a really cool concept except some of the meat was still cold. The whole thing isn't completely hot. Some of the smaller pieces fell thru the grates. They have such a variety of sauces. The drink specials were awesome they had a lot of $5 specials. I enjoyed the kurveball. Everyone should try it. Great for grilling. Tastes like BBQ. I didn't care for our service in the bar. We were the only ones there and it was late. Not the friendliest. Very, very, very disappointed!!!!! Because it was BOGO Wings on Monday, I thought to myself, wings would be the perfect thing to share after a hard day at work. I don't know if it was the time we went or what, but the wings were down right horrible!!! They tasted old. Old as in, they were cooked the day before and tossed and reheated or cooked earlier that morning then tossed and reheated. The wings were so dry, old and hard that if you didn't have any teeth, you'd be in trouble. The wings weren't wingin like they should have; especially when advertising BOGO. In addition to the day old wings, we ordered a side of fries. The first batch that came out was old. They definitely wouldn't have made it through quality. It was brought to the server's attention and even she agreed that they weren't up to par. She apologized and put an order in for some fresh fries. The second batch that came out was what we should've gotten the first time around. Our server was made aware of how disappointed we were and not pleased with how the night went. It was 21 minutes later before it was ready. Hopefully, they will get better on that. The ribs were absolutely delicious! I was concerned going with St. Lois style they would be tough. They were not! The Carolina mopping was the sauce we went with and it was some of the best sauce I've had! The boneless bites were not good at all. Dry, no flavor and not appetizing at all. Their Mac n Cheese is FIRE! It is a 1.99 up charge. The Street Corn was okay, but also is a 1.99 up charge and I wouldn't get it again. We walked in and had no wait! The place looked busy and we were so glad that we didn't have a long wait. The place is really big and nice inside. I've always loved Smokey Bones as the Greenwood location is open and I'm glad they built one in Avon. They have a really nice to go area located on the side of the building as well as a curbside service. The bbq chicken was so good. It was tender and was falling off the bone. The steamed broccoli was seasoned well and the corn was also good. I liked the mustard based bbq sauce, and the Carolina mopping sauce they had available. It was good with my chicken. The donuts are something to get even if you're full to take home. They're so good and big! If you get them in the restaurant they come out in a paper bag filled with cinnamon and sugar to toss. The menu is big and has a lot to offer. They had a little grill that sits on the table it looked so neat as something you could order. Not a fan of the boneless wings, tasted like I went to Kroger threw them in the oven and swooshed them in sauce or threw Cajun seasoning on them. The ff were good dipped in ranch. The deep fried pickles were also gross, they were over battered , over cooked and you couldn't taste the pickle at all . Definitely skip these. The Mac n cheese was good and at least the jumbo wings were big but way overpriced. They were out of 2 of different sauces hot honey, mango habanero that I originally ordered so to make up for it they gave me a free dessert which was delicious, mixed berry cheesecake!!! Finally the service sucked, she never cleared the plates, just let them pile up and never offered refills on our drinks. First time coming here and and we're blown away. Our server Mary started off with a strong positive attitude asking us what we'd like and gave us time to browse the menu. We order The BBQ Mag Nachos, Boneless Wings, Fried Pickles, Mac and Cheese, Onion Rings and Coleslaw. Just about all of that was perfect. The Nachos were the standout star of the meal everything about it was cooked to perfection and we didn't leave one bite left. The wings were tasty as well the sauces were good with plenty to choose from. The sides were all great as well the Fried Pickles were crunchy and dipped in their ranch was a match made in heaven. The Mac and cheese was good same with the onion rings and coleslaw. The restaurants offers general sports bar area but the rest is filled with fun decor and and great smells from the food being cooked in the back. Well, I guess I spaced this review and didn't post. I'll take care of that now. We checked out the Smokey Bones chain restaurant in Avon, on Rockville Road, the first few days they were open. We found it entertaining they remodeled the IHOP back into a Smokey Bones as it was prior to IHOP. The new building is attractive and laid out with the family dining room straight ahead as you enter and the bar and bar tables to the right. The bar is first come first serve but the hostess must seat you at the high-top tables in the bar. Lunch is served Monday - Friday 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. and I think Happy Hour is till 6:00. Call to confirm Happy Hour. We made reservations but found out we still had well over an hour to be seated. Reservations has a different meaning here than we thought. We didn't realize the high-top bar tables required a hostess to seat guests and walked in, found a table and sat down. No one ever said anything, including our server, so we assumed it was open seating but it wasn't. Our server was very nice, friendly and just as new as all the other employees and had to ask others answers to most of our questions. We were fine with this as we knew a learning curve was expected. We ordered cocktails and those arrived rather quickly. Appetizers were next on our list but several items were already sold out at 6:30. The BBQ Rib Tips, Skillet Cornbread and Pretzel Bones were gone. My husband doesn't eat dairy and many sauces so we found it difficult to find an appetizer without cheese or dairy. We both agreed on 8 Jumbo Wings and Fried Pickles both which were good. My husband ordered the Baby Back Ribs served with 2 sides of BBQ baked beans and baked potato. The ribs had a fabulous flavor, super tender and the meat fell off the bones. The potato was baked thoroughly and the BBQ baked beans were flavorful and much enjoyed. I ordered the Pulled Pork Dinner with 2 sides of a loaded baked potato and a side salad with blue cheese dressing. The Pulled Pork was a generous portion, flavorful and extremely tender. I enjoyed the fresh side salad and all the toppings on the loaded potato. We ended dinner with the Chocolate Chip Cookie Skillet which was rich, full of chocolate chips and chocolate topping. A nice dessert to share as an ending to a satisfying dinner. We haven't returned yet but most likely will do so in the near future. read more

The speed of service was much faster and the staff was a lot more attentive as well, going above and beyond to make sure we got the most out of our takeout order. Food was very good. Everything cooked well and warm, all items present and delicious. Really was a huge improvement and good enough that I'd want it again. Not sure if there's been a management shakeup but much better Smokey Bones! Starter of the 4 mini Corn Bread were hot and perfect starters accompanied by an incredible Pecan Honey Butter that I'd be willing to slather on damn near anything - just order it LOL. The Korean Pork Belly lollipops with a spicy aioli dip were juicy, crispy and glazed in a flavorful spicy sauce. Our server "Keela" was speedy and attentive to our special requests, providing excellent insight into the menu as we were first time visitors. Dinner included tender and flavorful Filet Medallions (the suggested Red Wine sauce was a thick, unctuous reduction that perfectly enhanced the filets.) A Brisket platter overflowing with sweet, fatty, juicy slabs of beef. And a 3 Fav platter of Pulled pork, Smoked chicken and more of the tender Brisket. The Pork really sings with a generous mix of their house BBQ sauces tossed in, and the Mustard based sauce went well with the chicken, the brisket needed nothing in my opinion, smokey and delicious, but a hit of the Blue bottle sauce added a nice edge. Half rack of ribs looked more like a Full, with a strong smoke line and great flavor without any sauce. Group comments on the sides were good - crisp, tart coleslaw, BBQ beans in a strong tangy brown sauce, tangy cheese mashed potato, thick cut steak fries that looked larger than my fluffy baked potato, and the broccoli and roasted corn were simple and tasty. Be aware this open floor plan restaurant has simple brick walls, which means sound is going to echo - it's going to feel loud as there's nothing to absorb the sound. It wasn't full when we went, but a loud group of 6 teens on one side and a family letting their screaming toddlers do laps around their table on the other - def sped up our meal. 3.5 stars for the restaurant seems appropriate to me. I love that Rockville Rd has a new restaurant that consistently has a kitchen open late. I've eaten here twice recently and the food is better than nearby wing places but definitely more expensive. Decent food and the hours are a plus but the service has been a bit of a let down. The ticket times are long even with a near empty restaurant. Appetizers and 2 entrees took our table of 4 an hour and a half total with only two other tables in the bar area. Also 2 guests were about done with their food by the time the others food arrived and a salad was forgotten. I'll be back for the convenience and the late night appetizers but might not recommend if you're in a rush. read more

First and last time for us visiting this place. We arrived around noon on Saturday. Let's start with the food. Horrible!! We both had the full rack of ribs with 2 sides that was their featured special.. The ribs were so dry, didn't have much meat on them and still had the silver skin attached. The mashed potatoes were so dry I'm pretty sure they may have been left over from the night before or maybe even the night before that! The beans were nothing more than pork n beans out of a can.
