I first visited Smoked Paprika in March 2016, a breakfast gift to my wife, from our eldest son Nelson, for her birthday. Nelson and his girlfriend Sarah had constantly raved about this place so my expectations were very high. However, I left with those expectations unmet after ordering a very average baked-egg dish, an uninspiring coffee, and an overall blase experience. It didn't speak of "special" and was a place I had considered never eating at again. Yet, recently, with the youngest son in Brisbane before moving to Spain we were looking for a convenient place to meet for breakfast and Smoked Paprika was nominated once again. And in the end, owing to convenience and the need to be at Brisbane International Airport around mid-day, it won out. And we're so glad it did. The new Spring/Summer menu abounds with deliciously-evolved dishes at breakfast from the Eggs Benedict to the Smoked Paprika Breakfast, Fritters and the Specials. The chef has lifted the bar on the Brisbane breakfast scene while continuing the Hungarian influences of this restaurant with flavorful combinations and ample servings which spell value-for-money and memorable dishes. Their full menu is online so no point in regurgitating it here, but needless to the say the baked egg dish is gone and in its place is a much more robust and rousing series of breakfast options. Highly recommended if you're after breakfast, near Bardon, and after a break from the ordinary. read more
