The blond and I were riding around Key West and decided to get BBQ. So we popped in in this place, that's right on the water on a barge to check it out. We were pretty damn happy when we got done eating. The ribs were really good and so were the wings. Plus today they had collard greens which were really tasty and of course vinegar-based cucumber salad. Now you may want to hang out down on Duval Street and look for some barbecue, but I suggest you get off your butt and get on over here and try what they have. My opinion you will not be disappointed before I have had barbecue all over the United States and at least 30 different states. And this is some really good stuff out here in the Keys. The blueberry jalapeno BBQ sauce was a killer and I suggest you try it! But if you really got the hankering and the ability to take hot stuff they do have a Reaper barbecue sauce that you can try. read more

We all had something different , I had the brisket sandwich (the brisket was sliced thinned and good) which came with queso and gardinero on a Sesame seed bun and one side and I got the Mac n cheese and it was alright .. Our friend had the " not so plain Jane " that thing was so plain and' a bit on the cold side but we made it work. my husband is pretty happy to have a bbq place outside the downtown area that has free delivery & can deliver to the military base. we order some ribs and they have a few bbq sauces to chose from my favorite the georgia sweet. the mac and cheese I order were a little spicy, but I will order it again... now the bread was a little old and the corn was a little disappointing, I was really looking forward to eat that but I just didn't like it. is not a romantic place, more family oriented but I did like it, the place was clean and the service was fast and friendly definitely a place that we can say we will be going back to. read more

Disappointed does not say enough. If it wasn't on the water I wouldn't have given it two stars. How do you screw up BBQ? I am not sure how these folks are still in biz. Brisket was dry like it was old. Not even sure what was wrong with the chicken-maybe frozen after smoking and reheated? Cucumber salad if you could call it that was disgusting. We love greens and my wife even asked how long they have been cooking-the girl assured her they were done right. What a joke they were. Looked like they decided to just throw greens in lukewarm water and serve. The leaf hadn't even broken down-it's obvious to me they either have no clue or just don't care. The most telling part was after 20 min they came by the table and asked if done and should they throw out the "leftovers". They knew their food sucked and we wouldn't be taking it with us. We decided they just don't care. Time to find a new profession folks. Maybe you can charge admission to feed fish your stale rolls? read more

What a gem this place is! The food was fabulous: authentic smoked southern barbecue served fresh and fast. Everything was good. The gentleman working there was very personable. We had Baby Back Ribs and Kansas City style Burnt Ends. It was all tender and flavored to perfection It is located on a stable docked boat away from the crowded downtown, but an easy bike ride. We enjoyed an exquisite sunset with just one other couple eating there. Its extremely casual like a Maine lobster shack, a Maryland crab house, or a southern outdoor barbecue place. We were dying for BBQ since moving to Key West and this place looked cool. Went there for lunch one day and were rather disappointed. First, our lunch was about $60 for 2 adults and a child. Second, they had bottles of soda to drink - no fountain drinks with ice. Third, the food just wasn't that good. My brisket was extremely fatty and over salted. Seen plenty of BBQ joints come and go through Key West, this one is by far the best! Excellent smoke flavor and smoke ring. Ribs were heavily rubbed and not overdone. Beans were superb with the brisket mixed in. Pulled pork was delicious. 1/2 chicken was moist and nicely spiced. Both the vinegar and spicy sauces were excellent...not sure if there is a mustard based sauce offering?? would be great for the pulled pork! only 1 criticism if your listening - the wings were a bit dry and overdone, but the sauces saved them! Key West doesn't have many good BBQ places - this is good. We had a sandwich, pulled pork plate, and (on staff recommendation) the half chicken plate. All were excellent. Especially the half chicken- perfectly cooked. Sides- the corn on the cob was perfect. The baked beans were really good (they do have a touch of heat, which I love). Cucumber and Mac salad both quite good. They also have a selection of different BBQ sauces. From sweet to spicy. I would recommend one, but they were all hits. Finally, it's got a nice view, very relaxed, and the service was friendly. If you're visiting Key West and you want some excellent and reasonably priced BBQ, get away from the Duval crawl and come here. read more

So if the brisket and ribs don't have any smoke ring or flavor why would I want to try a different cut of meat?? Also if a so called BBQ place can't put out out good brisket or ribs why would I want to try the pulled pork or anything else? That's a bullshit response to my review and you know it. Maybe you should try making your food as good as your excuses. I'd start with an actual smoker. Don't be fooled by BBQ in Florida. These are Georgia guys who have brought their specialty south! Have eaten here several times while in town and always delicious. Have never had a bad meal. And they're super friendly. As a southerner who is used to eating BBQ and the fixins whenever I want, I will say that this one is definitely overpriced, even with the deliciousness and the large portions. A $16 sandwich is excessive. They also don't offer mustard based sauce, which is disappointing for the half of us who prefer it. But it is delish and we'll continue to go back any time we're in town! SMOKED BBQ WILL REFUSE SERVICE TO YOU IF THEY DON'T LIKE YOUR TIP! On 12 February 2019, I called Smoked BBQ and spoke to David to place an order for delivery. When it came time to give my address, David told me the delivery driver refused to deliver to my address. As a local, I've ordered Smoked BBQ for delivery to my address several times before with no issue. I asked David, who identified himself as a manager, why the delivery driver refused to deliver to my house, to which he informed me he did not know. I find it hard to understand why a member of management would not know why a delivery driver for his restaurant refuses to delivery to a particular residence. Nonetheless, David said he'd ask the delivery driver and call me back. Roughly 15 minutes later, David called me back. David told me the delivery driver, Kirk (I believe that was his name), said the last time he delivered to my address he didn't like the tip amount and said it isn't worth his time to drive to Key Haven and the amount I tipped was too low. Of note, it took 45 minutes for my food to show up to my house, was not warm to the touch, and I still tipped the driver. The last time I checked, tipping was not a requirement and was a discretionary amount a customer can chose to add to their bill should the service warrant it. I immediately asked to speak to a manager, to which David told me he was one of the managers and although he said he did not agree with it, there is nothing he could do because the restaurant has already gone through two other less than mediocre delivery drivers and if he went against this third driver, he risked losing him. Ultimately, David refused to continue with my order. Let's recap... I called to order from Smoked BBQ that advertises delivery to Key Haven and has delivered to Key Haven on multiple previous occasions, only to be told the last tip the delivery driver received was not to his liking, so he refused to deliver to my address anymore. Then, after discussing the issue with the manager, I was told although he disagreed with the delivery driver, there was nothing he could do and refused to place my order. The fact that a delivery driver can dictate the policies of a business against management is beyond me. Refusing service because you do not like a tip for delivering food is ridiculous and absurd. If management believes the driver should receive more, than add a delivery charge. However, the customer should not have to fear whether they will be allowed to order again based on the discretionary tip they add to their bill for mediocre service. I'd strongly recommend you spend your local dollar elsewhere. Spend it at an establishment that respects the business of a local and where a customer's satisfaction comes first. These are not traits that I experienced from David and Kirk at Smoked BBQ on 12 February 2019. read more
