Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, so here's mine: Smoke Daddy rocks! After a reasonable wait on a Saturday night we were seated out front where a top notch blues man was bending the strings to set the mood. Both Spare and Babyback rubs were outstanding: meaty, succulent and very flavorful. We didn't use much of the added sauces available, but I tasted 3 and they were all good and unique. As for sides: we had slaw, cornbread, fries and Mac. Every one was a little bit different from the run if the mill and top notch. Service was just fine. For f sake, what's with the whining about service in the middle of a pandemic? It's a miracle any restaurant can even survive in these times. I consider myself a homegrown Chi-town BBQ regular, and Smoke Daddy makes the cut of the top handful of smokers. Give it a shot. read more

I love barbecue, and I've never tried a Chicago barbecue spot, so I gave this place a shot. I placed a delivery order for a meat platter with brisket and pulled chicken, and I tried the coleslaw and mac & cheese for sides. I also ordered the Daddy's House Salad which was pleasantly refreshing and tasty! Everything was delicious EXCEPT for the brisket. If I were making this review for everything minus the brisket, I'd give it 5 stars. However, the brisket was EXTREMELY fatty. I'd say probably 25% of the brisket was meat and 75% was fat. I personally do not like that much fat. Next time I'd try other meats -- I'd avoid the brisket unless you like extremely fatty brisket! read more

First and last time I will EVER get food from here. This is another typical restaurant that feels because it's a postmates order and they get paid regardless let's just send over over cooked and over seasoned slop because they have no recourse anyway. Well you are WRONG I can warn other people that your food is terrible and dont waste their hard earned money on garbage food that you'd be better off with a McRib from mcd's. Oh and true smoked meats dont need to have a gallon of smoke flavored BBQ sauce all over it. Especially when the customer asks for LIGHT SAUCE. Thanks for ruining my dinner. read more

The great think about walk-tails, is getting a cocktail you couldn't make yourself. The great thing about Smoke Daddy, is the knowledge that you can almost definitely make a better cocktail yourself! Lemonade mix meets no-name liqours, but on the up side its $5, comes in a to-go cup. Easy sometimes beats great. A cheap cocktail that will cheer you up on your cocktail-making skills. read more

Last night my girlfriend and I went here for dinner. This was the most underwhelming restaurant experience I have ever had. They only had 1 of the smoked meats available and the one that was available was the chicken- which came out extremely dry and bland. With our other food, my girlfriend said that the chili at Wendy's was better than what she got. The service was extremely slow for the whole 10 people in the restaurant. On top of which our specifics for our order were ignored and an item forgotten. I won't be back here and these issues were most likely why there were all but 10 people in here at dinner time. Even transparency in this case would have gone a long way to let us know what is available. read more

Went here for lunch after driving past it a couple time. No wait for lunchtime which was nice. I got the smoked meat platter, burnt ends and brisket with corn bread and Mac and cheese. Amount of food was perfect for lunch, corn bread and Mac and cheese were delicious but I wasn't impressed with the meat. I was expecting lots of flavor from a place called Smoke Daddy but found myself drowning my food in sauce so it would have some flavor. Overall not bad, waitress was quick and friendly, and sides were good was just expecting a lot more flavor to the meat. read more

We ordered Smoke Daddy catering for our wedding, and were very happy with the decision! They arrived slightly ahead of our scheduled delivery (which was great!), helped set everything up, came prepared with more than enough plates and silverware, and we had plenty of food for our guests, who raved about the dishes! Our order included ribs, pulled chicken, pulled pork, coleslaw, mac and cheese, beans and salad, as well as buns and several sauces, and we feel we got a fantastic deal that easily fed 20+ people (not to mention having leftovers for days). If we have another event, I would definitely hire Smoke Daddy! We've also had good experiences dining-in, and will absolutely be back. read more

I am upset. Smoke Daddy used to have excellent BBQ sauces, but something changed. Their sauces are bland and boring. I did not like the Original, Sweet & Smoky nor Mustard Q versions. The mac n cheese had a weird flavor and was bland. The collard greens were awful and tasted like it had been boiled in hot water. No flavor or seasoning whatsoever. The only tasty items were our Bloody Mary's. We skipped dessert on purpose. Service was excellent though and their staff is friendly. However I am disappointed because I love Remington's which is owned by the same 4 Star Restaurants Group and expected the same high quality food. This is unacceptable. read more

We were in Chicago from Florida for Thanksgiving. We ordered Thanksgiving Family Dinner to go (smoked turkey, dressing, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes) and picked it up on Wednesday evening. The to go order was ready at our reserved time and we were in and out within minutes. Now about the food........it was to die for. My family could stop raving about how moist and flavorful the turkey was. We loved it all! read more

We had this food catered for a photoshoot meal a couple weeks back. Man, great barbeque! Admittedly BBQ is not my first choice of food because it's typically heavy. But this kept me wanting more. We tried: - BBQ beans (not usually a fan but these were the perfect balance of sweet and savory with plentiful chunks of brisket) - The pulled chicken and pork were flavorful, moist and tender, loved the balanced smoke taste they left me with Even the coleslaw was delicious - crunchy yet sweet. read more

Service was great. Good bbq. Nothing really mind-blowing but everything was good. Wouldn't mind going back if I'm in the area. The wings were good, and we also had the big daddy plate with sides of macaroni & cheese and corn bread. read more

This review is for the 20lb Thanksgiving catering smoked turkey. Incredible. Pickup was easy, instructions were clear, and the turkey came out perfect. Great smoke flavor, not dry, and enough for more than 16. We'd spent the last two Thanksgivings in Asheville NC getting turkeys from local bbq spots, and this one was as good if not better. So glad we went this route read more

Smoke Daddy is a spacious and sunlit re-converted garage in the heart of West Town. My boyfriend and I shared the Taste of the Daddy Platter with the St. Louis Spare Ribs, KC Style Burnt Ends, Smoked Brisket, Mac & Cheese and Coleslaw. As a Bostonian, I don't have a lot of exposure to great BBQ and can honestly say I had stars in my eyes throughout the whole meal. All the meat was perfectly cooked, incredibly tender (the ribs literally fell off the bone onto my plate) and packed with flavour. Everything was so good on its own that I barely had the chance to try out the different BBQ sauces at our table. This had to have been the best barbeque I've ever had. read more

Really neat place with live music, dog friendly patio and always a good place to watch a game on TV. Food is very good and reasonably priced. A staple in our house! read more

Loved the vibe here! It was a cute sports bar and the live music on a Sunday morning was a pleasant surprise. The barbecue food was also great! WILL NEVER EVER EVER COME BACK, OR RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Absolutely the worst BBQ food I have ever ate! Horrible. A friend and I decided to try the BBQ from smoke daddy, so we ordered to go and picked it up. The locations is a nice, and the service is ok. But the food is absolutely horrible, and over priced. We ended up trying the BBQ platter. We had the pulled pork, burned ends, and brisket. Absolutely no flavor what so ever in any of the options we got. The meat tasted boiled in water. UNACCEPTABLE! No flavor, small portions, over priced. I will never come back. Defiantly isn't work it. So many other places that are cheaper and have way better BBQ food! OTHER PLACES THAT HAVE ACTUAL BBQ, not boiled tasteless meat. read more

I know this is a popular place, and I've been twice but both times the experience has been disappointing. The service is always good, and they have a nice beer selection - however the food is below average. If you look for real good BBQ food, in my humble opinion this is not it. The BBQ sauces are kind of weird tasting, and the meat feels more like "Applebee's" than a BBQ joint. I could go without eating here again. read more

When planning a visit to Memphis, TN, you'll want to see what the fuss is all about at Graceland. You'll want to catch a glimpse of the ducks in the Peabody Hotel lobby. You'll want to take a stroll down Beale Street and indulge in a diver from Silky's or check out some blues music at one of the countless venues. For most locals, paying a cover charge to walk down a street or searching aimlessly for street parking to see a duck splash in a fountain for three minutes is not on their list of things to do today. But one thing local and tourist alike CAN agree on is that Memphis barbecue (known for the rest of this review as BBQ) is amazing. Well, dear reader, I'm from Memphis and have spent 63% of my life eating BBQ, trying new BBQ restaurants and challenging to duels anyone who dare besmirch the glory that is Memphis BBQ. In short, I know good BBQ. Smoke Daddy BBQ is good BBQ. Smoke Daddy is located on the ever-so-happening section of Division smack dab in the heart of Wicker Park. It's a quick walk from the blue line stop that shares its street name. The outside looks like something that might be found on Beale Street--neon lights molded into the outline of a pig, strings of lights and copious amounts of outdoor seating. I arrived for a late lunch on a recent Thursday afternoon, and was instructed by a waitress to sit wherever I liked. Wanting to people-watch and take in the comfortable temperatures, I opted for one of the outdoor seats. She handed me a menu and promised to return shortly. The menu is loaded with meats, ribs, southern-inspired sides and lots of sandwiches. Oh man, the sandwiches--pork, chicken, brisket, burgers, you name it! While I sat there in hog heaven (thank you, thank you...I'll be here all week), the waitress returned with two glasses of ice water and two rolls of silverware. "Should we wait for the rest of your group?" she asked, incorrectly assuming that a man with my rugged good looks and rapier wit would be dining with whatever choice of billionaire/bikini-model/astrophysicist that he wanted. I informed her I was, in fact, rolling solo today and that I would be having the Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich with a side of fries. She scurried away, leaving me to revel in the shade of my table's umbrella and wi-fi hotspot. The sandwich arrived in about 10 minutes. Some BBQ places are stingy on the sandwich bread which allows them to skimp on the meat too. That wasn't the case here. I could tell immediately, this would more than fill me up. Each table offers ketchup and three Smoke Daddy sauces of different flavors and heat (original, sweet and smoky and mustard Q). There's something I love about squeezing the cylindrical plastic condiment bottles to see their contents shoot out from the tightly tapered opening. The pork was flavorful and juicy, the bread toasty, and the sauces not lacking in their kick. My only qualm is that the fries are so short and small that it makes them messier and more difficult to eat when dipping them into the ketchup. I've never been a fan of using a fork for fries, but if there ever were a time then it would be here. A quick gander at the Smoke Daddy website will show you their weekly specials (Tuesday BBQ nachos!), brunch offerings and how to buy their original sauces. Thirteen dollars with tip makes Smoke Daddy tough to beat in terms of value. If my diet weren't an issue I'd come here every week. Regardless, this is an establishment that should be on anyone's list for comfort food and a fun atmosphere. Food: ****1/2 Atmosphere: ****1/2 Service: **** Overall: **** read more

Very disappointed. Visiting from Fl and will NOT be recommending to anyone. Ordered via DoorDash. First meat sandwich was brisket and over 1/2 fat. Cornbread was dry. Second meat sandwich was pulled pork but nothing better than what one could get in food court at a mall. Mac & Cheese soupy. Ordered 11/26/2019. Waaaay over priced. Called to speak with manager. Was on hold over 6 min. No one checked in with me. Could not keep waiting. Terrible customer service on top of terrible food. STAY AWAY!!! read more

I've been coming here for years - I am not sure why it's taken me so long to write a review. The first time I came here was on a date forever ago and the date was eh but the drinks were pretty good! Ever since I moved around the corner one month ago, I've come here a bunch - I think 2 brunches, and two lunches in one month. The brunch is solid but my fave item is on the lunch menu - the Wrightwood Salad. Wow. The cornbread croutons are freaking out of this world. I would eat a plate of those. I also like the outdoor area and that you can bring your dog. I came here with two dogs the other day and did some work on their free wifi and ate a salad. It was a great place to relax. I'm only docking one star because I reserve 5 star reviews for places that really knock it out of the park and while I do love this place, it's a solid 4 star place. read more

Back when I moved to the neighborhood almost 10 years ago, Smoke Daddy was pretty happenin'. The wait was always insane, but the intimate space combined with gritty blues from the tiny little stage in the corner was worth the wait. It had a charm that sort of pulled you away from Chicago for a second. It was nice and relaxing (albeit still extremely crowded.) Smoke Daddy today is much different. It has kind of a Buffalo Wild Wing's interior with lots of TVs and crowds of people that generally aren't there for the music. I know it's not really a "venue" so-to-speak, but something feels wrong about a table full of dudes cheering at TVs while an amazing musician is sitting a napkin's throw away. The original charm is, I hate to say, gone. That being said, the food is and has always been very good. It's on par with some of the better places in the city and has consistently proven itself worthy of being on the list. I still find myself wandering in when my stomach starts rumbling, and I happen to be wandering down DIvision. I don't know if we'll ever be able to go back to the way it was, but I guess that's how life always is, right? read more

Super fun atmosphere before the Cubs game. The live music and friendly staff were the highlights. On a crazy busy game day, management did a nice job of keeping everyone happy and things moving smoothly. I wouldn't go out of my way for just the food. The food is average. My family ordered a takeout meal from here on a Saturday evening. It was extremely subpar and very overpriced.
