It was our last night in town and my daughter was in search of a BBQ place where we could enjoy some great NC BBQ before we headed home. Smoke A 'Lil Smoke came up on my radar, and I am SO thankful we decided to stop in! The waitress who greeted us was over the top friendly and welcoming - my granddaughter took to her immediately, which is rare for her - and she had a wonderful time running and playing while we waited for our food. And the food?!! Ah-MAZ-ing! I wasn't familiar with some of the sauces, so she made a point to give us some of all that they carry - and wow, just WOW! The barbeque was moist and tender, and the cole slaw was equally fabulous - not to sweet, but just enough to be the perfect offset for the barbeque (particularly when using the spicy - it was beyond perfect!) Great service and great food. I got the Philly sub, mac and cheese, peach habanero wings and corn riblets. The beef Philly cheese sub was excellent and the mac and cheese was very good. But the corn riblets, OMG, YUM, I could eat a plate of nothing else but these barbecue corn riblets. read more

The food was amazing my wife had a pulled pork sandwich with fried pickles and I had the special Philly cheese steak with homemade Mac n cheese. We also had an appetizer of potato skins and homemade ranch. The sweet tea is a southern as it gets. We will definitely be coming back. The only thing this place needs is a good desert. The service was fantastic. We look forward to coming back considering we drove a hour and a half. Sorry there is no pictures but we will take more next time. read more

Server (young gal) can use more training. Happy and polite however, as we looked at the menu, asking questions, we told her we were new. She didn't tell us until ordering that they were out of brisket. When ordering food, I ordered hush puppies and okra as sides. To my surprise, my husband's plate had hush puppies and two sides. I had 6 hush puppies! I would have ordered a different side in addition to my okra. She said oh, yeah, it comes with hush puppies after I made a comment. The menu doesn't define hush puppies coming with the plates. The Mac and Cheese was way over-peppered! Okra was great; meats (pork and chicken) were tender and delicious. Neither had a smoky flavor though. Good place but can use some improvement. read more

Do not go here and expect to have a good time. I paid $50.00 dollars for my wife and I to get cold food, small portions and no service from the waiter. We ordered 2 pulled pork plates with a couple drinks. Never saw the waiter after the food was brought to the table. We had to "ask" for silverware, napkins and our drinks while our food sat getting colder. After receiving "plastic silverware" and our drinks (without a straw) and the food being ice cold, I had enough. I got up, paid 50 bucks for a horrible Valantine dinner and left to go home. Totally felt taken advantage of in the experience. Very awkward. read more

If you want okay food and terrible service this is your place. Place wasn't even busy and could barely get someone to seat us. After having to tell them to bring the rest of out food that we were missing, we NEVER got checked on or offered a refill. You can't get ahold of your service staff because they're too busy talking or doing the hostess job while she stands there looking busy. Oh and if you go there and you're friends with the employees, they bring complimentary banana pudding! I would rate it but we didn't get offered any. As this was my first visit I ordered the Chicken Cow Pig sampler tray. While I waited the manager offered me a tasting of Turkey Burnt ends and fried bologna. Turkey burnt ends, only avail on Thursdays, were superbly tender and just fell apart. They were juicy and tender and deliciously flavored. I don't like Turkey. These you could feed me and I would never know it was Turkey. My tray came with pulled chicken that was very moist, tender and delicious. The pig was also pulled, all fat removed, amazingly juicy and delicious. The cow was beef sausage that had a perfectly crisp skin and soft mouthwatering inside. I got Mac n cheese and slaw as my sides. Mac n cheese was delightful. Slaw had a small hint of vinegar but not overpoweringly so. Cabbage chopped finely and very fresh. Absolutely the best barbecue and service in town, and surrounding towns for that matter!

This little bbq place is amazing. When we showed up there was quite a line, everything moved along very quickly. Service was great, friendly and accommodating in every way. The food, though. Oh man. I mean, that's really what you go to a restaurant for. I can say, without hesitation, these were the best fries I've ever had. I got the loaded fries with pork, and the way they cut the fries is unique, they almost look like big onion petals. Perfect crisp to tender ratio, which I can also say about the pork. Gorgeous bark on it, and it wasn't pulled into oblivion. My wife said the sausage she got were the best she's ever had in any bbq place. Two for two on bests is remarkable, as we're kind of picky and have been to a lot of good spots around the country. Between our group of four, everyone was very happy with the food, portion size, price, and amazing service. They had about five different sauces, I only had the spicy which was great. This restaurant serves great smoked meats and the sides are awesome, as well. I had the brisket and it was delicious. They have several sauces to choose from such as sweet, vinegar based, mustard based, and a blueberry sauce. I prefer the mustard based sauce. Food was served quickly.
