Pulled chicken with beans and Mac & cheese.

Server (young gal) can use more training. Happy and polite however, as we looked at the menu, asking questions, we told her we were new. She didn't tell us until ordering that they were out of brisket. When ordering food, I ordered hush puppies and okra as sides. To my surprise, my husband's plate had hush puppies and two sides. I had 6 hush puppies! I would have ordered a different side in addition to my okra. She said oh, yeah, it comes with hush puppies after I made a comment. The menu doesn't define hush puppies coming with the plates. The Mac and Cheese was way over-peppered! Okra was great; meats (pork and chicken) were tender and delicious. Neither had a smoky flavor though. Good place but can use some improvement.

Whole Farm loaded with fries as base and every topping.

My brother, nephew and I stopped in after a long weekend hiking on the Appalachian Trail. The three of us split a loaded Whole Farm over fries and barely finished it. Incredible barbecue and a great value. Will make it a point to be back next time we are in the area.

I grew up eating the best BBQ in the world in Austin TX. If you're a local or just passing through the area and you neglect to get the whole farm plate (plate with every meat) shame on you and your lineage. Get out of bed and drive your sorry butt down to the Smoke A 'Lil Smoke NOW! 5 star food 5 star service 5 star memories

    Small sampler tray/ Chicken-Cow-Pig with 2 sides slaw mac-n-cheese.

After reading rave reviews on Asheville Foodies on FB I went here for the first time. The staff was very personable. The food though...fantastic. As this was my first visit I ordered the Chicken Cow Pig sampler tray. While I waited the manager offered me a tasting of Turkey Burnt ends and fried bologna. Turkey burnt ends, only avail on Thursdays, were superbly tender and just fell apart. They were juicy and tender and deliciously flavored. I don't like Turkey. These you could feed me and I would never know it was Turkey. My tray came with pulled chicken that was very moist, tender and delicious. The pig was also pulled, all fat removed, amazingly juicy and delicious. The cow was beef sausage that had a perfectly crisp skin and soft mouthwatering inside. I got Mac n cheese and slaw as my sides. Mac n cheese was delightful. Slaw had a small hint of vinegar but not overpoweringly so. Cabbage chopped finely and very fresh. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The diner is a small cozy place but perfectly appointed for a bbq place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I would easily recommend this anyone looking to grab a bite. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's not fancy dinning and all orders come in a to-go container with a soda.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Please do yourself a favor and give them a try. I dont think you will be disappointed. And it didn't cost a fortune either. Go out and help our local economy and treat yourself. BTW my small sampler could easily feed 2 or 3.

My daughter used to manage a German Restaurant, the owners being German immigrants, so she's pretty discerning when it comes to German food - let me tell you, she was absolutely blown away! She said hands down, all 3 items were the very best she's ever had. I opted for the Rueben, which, I was equally impressed with - the corned beef was tender, hardly any fat, and the dressing was to die for. Desert was equally as delicious, their Cheese cakes are nothing less than phenomenal - and lets just say their pasta salad and pimento cheese found its way home with us to enjoy with dinner that evening - amazing! I'd give them 100 starts if I could, a must stop if you're nearby - or worth driving if you're not. Can't wait until next year to come back!

They do not have a fryer so all menu items are prepared fresh. I had a Reuben Sandwich and pasta salad. (The sides are large!) We chose to split the Reuben since we have early dinner reservations and each got a side. Even at 1/2 the sandwich and side it was very filling. The sandwich was hot and delicious. The pasta salad was also very good. The desserts today was Banana Cake and Hawaiian Cake. I got a slice to go. Go for the good food and warm hospitality!

We didn't try any food, but they do have a small menu of bar bites that sounded really good. My cider was crisp, and not too sweet. It seemed to be "the spot", because there were lots of people but we didn't have any trouble finding seating. Lots of people had their dogs with them, which is always a plus!! I stopped in my first day and got the LT sandwich, which was amazing, but I ended up spending almost as much time looking around the store as I did eating. They have everything from local mustards and honey to tinned fish, seasonings, and a whole section from a local creamery with ice cream, yogurt, smoothies, etc. Everything seems thoughtfully picked out and locally sourced when possible, without having the ridiculous prices you sometimes expect from a place like this. The staff was also amazing--genuinely friendly, helpful, and happy to talk about the food and everything they carry. I liked the place enough that, despite having an entire city of restaurants I'd never tried before, I came back the very next day. This time I got the grinder, which ended up being my favorite, along with the roast beef, which was also delicious. Between the sandwiches, the people, and the frankly ridiculous amount of good shit packed into the store, everything about this place was great. There are plenty of places I didn't get a chance to try while I was in Asheville, but I have absolutely no regrets using two lunches on this one. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in town. Shoutout to one of the owners- Patty- goes out of his way to take care of customers

There is local artwork displayed on the walls as you enter. You place your order directly at the counter, take a number, and your food is brought out to your table when it is ready. The menu is quite large, and it took a bit of time to decide on my order, but I ultimately went with a combo including a half ham wrap, a drink, and a side of pasta salad. The cashier was very good about openly telling everyone in line about price differences from the printed menu before ordering. Because the kitchen was experiencing a significant delay, it seemed like they quietly upgraded me to a whole wrap as a nice peace offering! It came cut into two parts, with one part wrapped neatly in foil. Personally, I really wish they offered a "build your own" option where you could just choose your own specific bread, meat, cheese, and toppings, rather than having to hunt through the large preset menu options to find a combination where you like everything. I was really surprised by how incredibly small the side portion of pasta salad was--about the size of a standard salad dressing container! I've honestly never seen a side dish served that small before, so I posted a photo of the two side by side to show the exact comparison. Next time, I would skip the combo entirely and just order the sandwich on its own. The ham wrap itself was really good, and the small bite of pasta salad was very tasty. However, it did take quite a bit longer than it should have for the food to leave the kitchen, so this slow wait time could definitely be an issue for someone on a tight lunch schedule.
