Mickey was excellent in communicating and explaining the repair process, even reaching out for follow up. We were able to do a process of elimination over the course of a few months because nothing seemed to work long term. Eventually we got it right and I was able to pass my smog without issue. Please do not bring your car here. The level of back and forth I've went through is so disappointing. The receptionist or main mechanic guy is named Ordell. engages in negative business practices, and when I asked why my entire transmission went out after replacing the spark plugs, he got loud and accused me of lying and told me they "fix those problems" and I know nothing about cars. Mind you, I drive a 2005 Volkswagen Beetle and take care of my car to the bone- after I changed the spark plugs because I reached the mileage recommendation, I chose this spot because they let me use a coupon I received in the mail + good reviews from yelp. After I got my car, there was shaking throughout the entire vehicle. At this point I called because maintenance comes with warranty. I had no problems calling and asked if I could bring my car back. Instead of explaining to me any reason for the shaking after replacing the spark plugs, I was charged a new amount in changing the spark plug wires. I went to pick up my car and immediately after I got in my car to drive off, Ordell (the mechanic) let me the know the car was still shaking and that I needed a motor mount (a new problem I've never dealt with even after staying up to date with my diagnostics. I leave because I start realizing this place accepts jobs without proper knowledge of all vehicles. The next day my car still has slight shaking and while im driving, the car won't accelerate any longer. I call and Ordell tells me over the phone that they changed the spark plugs good so I have no reason to bring it back. After getting a 2nd & 3rd opinion on the car, I was told the shop didn't do a good job replacing them and I should have them do it again. I explained this to Ordell in person when I went to take my car back and instead of cooperating he told me I would have to pay a $95 diagnostics test. BUSINESS ETHICS. Instead of walking me through the problem and explaining options or what happens, he gets loud and tells me my car has problems and it's not their fault. I never had these problems with my car and now these things are happening. It's unfortunate that I dealt with a faulty business and I would advise anyone to go anywhere else. I have owned my Ford focus for nearly 17 years, have taken my car to several Ford dealers, and when I needed my smog certificate for 2021, the mechanics here found ignition problem that Ford could not identify nor fix. This is the worst smog shop I've ever been too. I showed up early Saturday morning as soon as they opened. I needed to have a star smog done and at first it seemed like it would get taken care of right away but I ended up spending 2 hours waiting for them just to inform me that they couldn't pass the car due to visual inspections but will still have to charge me for the test because they inputted the car into the system. Most smog shops would inform you before even attempting the test if they know it would possibly fail the visual part. Be warned that this is not a don't pass don't pay shop. They did not tell me this up front and led me on to believe that everything was going to pass and be ok. Waste of time and money. Will never return or send any of my family or friends. read more

They gave me no bull over the phone.. called and asked for a price and for my year make and model car (2006 Dodge Magnum) he told me it would be $40 out the door with certification, electronic filing to the DMV and taxes in and labor included!!!! That is easily $10 cheaper then anywhere else i found around the area!! he told me it would be no longer the 20 minutes and i was in and out in 15!! straight up answers and straight up service!! Terrible service. (& check my other reviews, this is the first negative one) I have the smog certificate in my hand from them as I'm saying this, so no one thinks this is because of a failed smog. I've been here many times before & will never return again. I've dealt with Mickey before, such a nice & helpful guy. I came in 2 months ago to smog my Nissan GTR, a younger guy in his 20s took care of me, also very helpful & nice. I went in for my truck (Friday 11am) & a different guy was there. I think only 3 people work there, Mickey who I believe is the owner, A young guy(early 20s), and now this guy who will not be named. (Because if I name him, the owner can ask YELP to remove this review, I'll do everything to assure this review stays on. Even reposting it if I have to.) This guy was EXTREMELY rude, patronizing, condescending, & literally took care of all the customers that came in AFTER me , before he took care of me. He first told me it would take about 20 mins, I was there for OVER an HOUR AND HALF. Everything was fine when I got there. I sat down and waited with another gentleman who had already been there waiting for his car that was almost done, and the gentleman started a conversation with me. Somewhere in the conversation, the worker over heard us and "Butted" into the conversation with his own negative and aggressive opinion. I respectfully told him we weren't talking to him, and he literally blew up. Like I kid you not, this guy can't control himself. I wouldn't doubt if he will end up with a criminal record one day, if he doesn't already have one. Like he seems like the type of guy to beat his wife for the food being cold. Terrible, this kinda person should not be in front of a business in a professional environment. Like I literally understand why they lock people up now. Somewhere along the lines, Mickey was brought up. This worker literally said "I don't care about Mickey, I don't care what Mickey says." It got to the point that the only way for me to get him to stop attacking me was by saying "can you just please do your job?" I guess that didn't set right with him, so he decided to make me wait for EVERYONE ELSE that came in to be done and smogged and leave before he took care of me, when I say everyone else, I mean the people that came in AFTER I did. It's not like I'm expecting special treatment to be taken care of first, but how rude to take care of other people that came in AFTER me, first. Needless to say, I unfortunately won't be giving my business here anymore and neither should you. Even if you get that coupon in the mail, trust me you might end up spending more time than the money you'd save. Plus $69 total for a smog is a lot I found out. You go to a restaurant because they have good food. You go to a store because they have nice things. When it comes to a business that all you need is a smog check, and there is no quality required to the work, where the outcome will be the same regardless of what shop you go to, I say take your business else where. Don't take the risk with this place. Just google "Smog place" on google maps and you'll find a better shop within walking distance that's even less expensive. Fast, affordable and friendly. Had to get a smog check and I was planning on going to their other location closer to me. Their system was down though so they referred me to this location. They said because I was going out of my way, (only by a few miles), they would take $20 off my smog check. Just for that, I will do my next check there and take my husbands truck when it is time. I did not give them 5 stars because it was hotter than hell in the office and the decor was so tacky. But my check took 5 minutes, so I can not really complain. read more

Smog Stop used to be my go-to location for smog checks, oil changes and other repairs. The owner, Mr. Ghumman, usually managed the location on Masi and was always very nice and helpful. In fact, he was what kept me coming back. Unfortunately he has not been at either location the last two times I visited for an oil change. The first visit was to the Masi location on a Saturday, where I was informed they do not perform oil changes, but that the Archibald location did. However, I was told by the employee that they close at 1pm (this was around 12:30pm). However, their website states that the Archibald location is open until 3pm on Saturdays. I don't know any reason for turning business away, but I believed him and decided to visit the Archibald location during the week. When I did, I waited 15 minutes before even being acknowledged and was told by that time (4pm) that it was too late for an oil change. Mr. Ghumman, thank you for your past service and pleasant conversation. Unfortunately, your staff has caused you to lose my business as well as the business of my friends and family. Went to their Masi Dr. location for my smog check. One person in the waiting room but no one at the desk. Tapped on the bell and waited. And waited. And waited. While I was waiting I had a chance to peruse the walls and read their notices. One said that the check will take at least 30 minutes or more because this isn't like stopping by and filling your gas tank. Oookay. Looked at the pricing and saw that it was going to cost at least $60 before tax. Saw another notice saying that this place was NOT a No Pass No Pay place. Another listed all the extra charges for cars of certain ages. At that point, still waiting, I decided that I did not see a good experience in my future so I left. read more

The guys here were very respectful and nice, but my wife came in to get her car smog for her registration and failed due to her engine light being on. If I knew her light was on I would have told her it would have been an automatic fail. With that being said, most honest establishments would know that the car would fail with the engine light being on and not even smog the car. These guys knew it would fail and still took the car in and did the smog so they can charge her. Way to take advantage of someone who doesn't know anything about cars and then refuse to give our money back. There are over establishments that are "don't pass, don't pay" this place is not one of them. We're out $50, we will not be returning. I've used other places by my work for a lot less and I wasn't charged $1.00 for using my debit card.
