The l man helping me was very kind, but unfortunately not knowledgeable. I was excited to walk in and find out they had time to diagnose and patch my tire on the spot. After looking at my tire, he told me it was a run-flat and couldn't be repaired. I explained multiple times that it was not a run-flat (I've had run flats in the past, I know the difference). I even showed him the spare in the trunk and confirmed the tire specs online, but he kept insisting and said it was against their policy because it's a high-performance vehicle. What was most frustrating is that he then pointed me to a shop across the street and said they might have a different policy for run-flats--again, ignoring that I had already clarified several times that this is not a run-flat tire. Think twice before coming here!! The only reason I went to Pep Boys in Rancho Cucamonga at this location is because someone suggested I go. I needed to replace my rear brake light and so I went over there, and they looked at my break light and they tried to get it off ( which is the problem I was having, getting the break light off so we could put the bulb in) but they said that I would have to be scheduled for an appointment so that they can work on it. So they scheduled me for the next day which is today, Wednesday. I went this morning at 10 AM which is my scheduled appointment. The guy looks at my car and tells me because there's a small crack at the top of the light he doesn't wanna touch it because if they break it more than he's liable. Well why didn't they just say that yesterday, that would have been fine. Why was I scheduled for an appointment! You guys wasted my time !!! The mechanic that looked at my car and tried to take my light off the day before is the one that said I needed to be scheduled for an appointment and then I go today and he tells the guy that is supposed to sign me in that there's a crack on the light and they don't feel comfortable doing it. I haven't had a more a reliable "mechanic" since I left the east coast. Guillermo and Joel are excellent service advisors. They know their stuff and they will never ask you to do more work than you need done. Oil changes under 100, batteries, brakes, tires, pretty much anything your car could need these cover - and well. Trustworthy, reliable, and speedy service for the price. Here's the real reason why I come here: I was eavesdropping on another customer's inquiry and Guillermo quickly explained that their car was going into limp mode because of a faulty sensor. They fixed the sensor and the car ran fine. Prior to pep boys I went to my local Honda dealer who could not find the problem. 6 months before I had just traded my car in for that exact reason! Incredible! So I've been going there ever since! Never going back to a dealer. read more

After an alignment, my car started to make a clicking/popping noise. I can read that the alignment itself may not cause the noise but I also can read that some components may have been changed or loosened and not tightened properly. So I think the shop should be able to check that without charging. Guillermo would not even check it without charging me. He would not charge me if it was related to the alignment but he must first must put a charge to start looking at it. He says it's all part of running a business. It could also be a way to extort money from the customer by causing a noise and then charging for looking at it when it was caused by the shop in the first place. I think he needs to look at it from the customer's side where something that wasn't happening before is now happening after visiting the shop. If it is something unrelated, then suggest the fix to charge for. Also, there are ants and mosquitoes inside the waiting area. read more

Awesome!! We were driving today to run errands and every where we stopped the car battery would die. We don't usually go to Pep Boys but were in need of getting the battery replaced. Decided to give Pep Boys a try. Called them first and they said that they could work on our car right away and it would take about 30 mins to switch out the battery. The Serice Manager Guillermo Ramirez was friendly, knowledgeable and appreciated our business. There were a few customers in the lobby waiting but he was able to multi task and get everyone taken care within the promised timeframe. The car was done and we paid for the service....Guillermo reminded us that the battery had a 36 months warranty and if anything went wrong, he wanted us to contact him right away. I'm truly impressed with the detail on the work and the customer service. This Pep Boys is definitely going to be my go to place. read more

This review is based off of a short, but a very thankful moment I had today. My friend informed me that my left brake light was out so my partner and I went to to the Autozone just right across the way in the same plaza as this Pep boys. We bought the bulbs and attempted to replace the brake lights. To my horror, the left brake light somehow got jammed and we spent a good 20 minutes trying to brute force it (even using pliers and accidentally chipping off some plastic..). With no avail, I drove over to Pep boys who were closing in 3 minutes. I prayed they would try to help me with something that normally is so easy to do, but I understood that coming in last minute could be stressful for the workers. Fortunately, Jose was nice enough to attempt to unscrew the bulb and with the help of mechanic Luis, they were able to somehow unjam the light and replace it with the ones we bought. Luis was nice enough to help me with the other side too, since we had two bulbs and that light was old. I am super grateful that Luis and Jose took the time to help me despite it being easy to just turn me away at closing time. From that kind gesture, I would come back to this location. Where do I even start... Took the car in to Pep Boys as it was doing something weird on the drive home from work. The next day, they called us to let us know the issue and how much. We agreed to the repairs, and was told the car would be ready the next day. Great! Ya, so you would think. We go pick up the car, and it was doing the same exact same thing as when we brought it in. Did you even test drive the car before calling us to come pick it up?!!! Obviously not. The guy that was working at the time, was useless. He tried to tell me he couldn't call the manager. After ripping him a new butthole for 10 minutes, he agreed to call his boss. The boss guy said he would personally work on the car himself the next day. So again, we left the car. The boss guy called us the next afternoon to let us know that they misdiagnosed the problem. With that being said, we requested a refund, picked up the car, and brought it to the dealership. The only reason Pep Boys is getting 2 stars instead of one is because they actually made good and refunded my money. This whole ordeal was a complete disaster. read more

I think it's important to give credit where credit is due. Most people that Yelp; usually do so when something goes bad, rather than when everything goes great. This is the second time I've had a flat. Two different cars, separate occasions. My first time around it was a pretty big screw stuck inside the tire of a 2016 Honda civic, they patched it up and I was good to go in less than 20 min. This time it was our truck! But before that? I had taken it to American Tire (also on foothill), the guy took one look and said "you need a new tire. Over 200 dollars and no warranty. Took it here, and they fixed it for 22 dollars. They could've told me the same thing! They could've told me I needed a new tire. But they were honest. They kept it real. And for that? I am grateful. Went here to get my TPMS replaced, they quoted me a price but I told them I was supplying me own. The manager told me they could not program the ones I supplied but I said they were already programmed to OEM specs. He said ok so I left my truck there, 7 hour later and 30 min before closing they were still working on it. I paid and went to leave and the low pressure light was still on I went back in to tell the 2 guys still there about it. They said I only paid for installation and they could not program them as the manager said. Here is where the back and forth went, since they were already programed all that was needed was to relearn them which is a completely different procedure and what should have been included in the price, they kept telling me they could not program and I kept telling them it was not the same thing. So any way I paid $160 and my light is still on and I might as well been speaking a foreign language to these guys as they had no idea what I was talking about. Avoid this place I would like to change my rating to 4 stars and here is why. Guillermo contacted me about the experience I had and had me come by today. He fixed the issue I had in just under 10 min, he was apologetic and I suggested maybe being a bit more transparent when quoting a price and he said he would speak to the person about it. Very happy about how things turned out. I have had multiple sets of tires mounted here as well as alignments. I will continue to use this location for things I need done. My appointment was at 8am, I was there at 7:55am. We went to breakfast because they gave us an estimated time of 1.5 hour. We came back at 9:42 and the car wasn't even touched. I walked in and asked if it was done and the guy behind the desk said, "I don't know, are we done?" I said you tell me, we've been gone for over an hour and a half. Then we asked how much longer and they said 1/2 hour to 45 minutes. I am giving you my money for your service and you don't even care about your customers to even perform the service. (Chris). He was just on his phone texting instead of actually doing his job. It took over 40mins after I arrived for my appointment for Chris to get started on my car. He had no sense of urgency whatsoever to get to work, clearly his cellphone was his priority. This review is to point out Chris for his laziness and unprofessionalism. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!! I repeat, DO NOT GO HERE!!! I was hesitant to even write a review since all of the workers at this location were very nice but I am a honest person and do not want anyone else to go through what I went through and now to find out my neighbor went through a similar situation just a few months ago at the same location. Mind blown. Took my car here because I felt like I needed brakes and I felt like that was an easy job so I felt comfortable leaving it here to get the job done because I only live around the corner. Well $2100 later and guess what, I was told not only do I need new brakes, I also need new rotors and a whole new front axle. Since I have never had any major work done on my car I felt maybe it needed it since they seemed nice enough to TRUST THEM. The work was finished and paid for so I took my car home and when I sometime later that day reversed out of the driveway, the front left part of my car made a LOUD BOOM followed by the front of my car dropping in between the axle and then the right side would do the same thing; my kids even made a remark asking if the tires had popped. The same day, I took it back to the Pep Boys and they could not find out what the problem and stated that the car would not perform the same noise and front drop that it did for me every time I would pull out of the driveway. A couple of days later I was out shopping and I turned on my car again and the same loud boom sound accompanied by the left and right drop happened but this time my CAR WOULD NOT REVERSE. Like are you kidding me!? I called Pep Boys right then and there and they were very accommodating and nice (this was a Saturday) and I fully understanding that it was a busy day of the week. I didn't hear from them until the Monday of the following week which is understandable but it was strange because when I did call them, they said we found out what the noise was; fixed it and your car will be finished in 20 minutes. Like magic or what? Excited that my car made the noise and resolution was occurring, I headed over there and they stated that they cleaned the rotors and axle and that was why it wouldn't reverse. I did not add up to me, I asked for paperwork on what they did, they said they had none but it was on my file. Being I was there with my 3 kiddos, I wasn't gonna press them for it. I was thankful thinking this would be the last time there and my car was fixed, right?!! NOPE, not at all. That Friday morning after a Target run, my check engine light went on, along with 3 other indicators: low air pressure, VSA and so on. I could not believe it. I called them right away and they were very kind but overlooked the timeline of occurrences and put the blame on the car due to its year and mileage. I HAVE NEVER HAD any issues ever with this car. They ran tests and said that my engine misfired over 30 times indicating that I needed all new spark plugs and the list goes on. NEVER AGAIN, very nice workers but really?!!! All of this for a brake change? I'm starting to wonder, did I ever need a new axle and rotors. Was I scammed? This evening, I come to find out my neighbor took their van into Pep Boys just a few months ago and was supposed to have new rotors put on, which they failed to do but were sure to CHARGE HER. Luckily she had her paperwork as proof. Her car has not been the same since. FOR BRAKES?!! What kind of clown show is this? I am shocked, upset, saddened, angry. You name it. I Took my 2015 grand Cherokee jeep to this location ( Pepboys on 11788 foothill blvd, Rancho Cucamonga ), about 3 weeks ago. Issue was that car suddenly died. Pepboys did diagnostic testing and determined the alternator and battery needed to be replaced. It was super costly for me but They are the experts. So I agreed and they put in a new alternator and battery. I paid $1700. 2 days later the car died again. I towed it back to pepboys, they ran diagnostics again and said oops, it's the starter. I had a long conversation with them because I had started to lose confidence in their competence. I paid an additional $700 for starter. After new starter was installed I picked up the car. Within 2 hours of picking up the car I smelt something burning (electrical smell) inside the car while I was driving. Battery sign came on the dashboard, voltage battery sign came on next, the car would change from Drive to neutral while I was driving then it suddenly died while I was southbound on Rochester avenue right in the middle lane. I was now in an unsafe situation. I called 911, an officer was dispatched and the officer helped keep traffic/everyone safe until my AAA tow truck arrived. Car is back at pepboys. I wish I never went there in the first place and will never go there again. Avoid this place if you value your peace of mind and your wallet health. I give them zero stars. read more
