Being stuck on the side of road sucks and is never a good thing. Having to tow your car definitely adds to it. Having a great tow truck drivers like Charles and Andy always makes it easier. Charles had a great attitude and was very careful with his job and my car. I immediately felt less stressed once he was there and I appreciate everything that he and Smitty's towing did. I was stuck on the Cuesta grade originally before getting towed by Charles in pretty dangerous spot. Another Smitty's driver Andy showed up randomly passing by to tow me to safer location for Charles to pick me up, which is another good example of where these guys heart is. Gloria was a great help too over the phone and was patient with everything. Great Job! read more

Had a malfunction in our motor home and it would not start. Joe L and Nicholas arrived with the correct tow vehicle and quickly got to work hooking up our rig for the tow. They were extremely professional and demonstrated a thorough knowledge of what they were doing. They were very careful to avoid damage to our vehicle. Very caring and friendly people. Thank you Joe and Nicholas. read more

They really got our RV out of a jam. We got it stuck in an embankment and George got us out with no damage to rig or truck.

Smitty's Towing will quote you one price and then try and double it when they show up for the tow. They left me in a complete bind after I waited 2 hours for them. Maybe they shouldn't quote prices if they are not going to stick to it. They should also train their phone staff a little better to understand what is really going on. As a business owner myself, I have to say that there are some companies that care, and there are others that don't. Smitty's Towing is obviously the latter. I would not recommend this company unless they were your last option. read more

got my vehicle impounded by smpd i very well acknowledge it was my fault i went to the office to find more information right away got greeted by a rude ass mf acting like i was goin to give him a hard time i asked if they offered a payment plan he laughed at me and said 'yes a one time payment, he then proceeded to ask me if i knew how many people asked for payment plans and never paid impound fees were more than 4,000 that is fucken ridiculous they make it so hard to get your car back they provide no information what they really want is to auction it. i understand its their job but being rude and a smart as to someone that already is going through a hard time is so unprofessional read more

Excellent driver. Got to us quickly. Loaded car into flatbed. Very professional William was our driver, and what a nice man. He drove us safely and was a super nice person. During our family vacation on April 15, 2022 our tire was damaged and our family of four were stranded on a hot road between Solvang and Santa Maria. Charles from Smitty's towing was incredibly helpful and went out of his way to help us find a tire shop that could replace our large hard to find tire. Since we could not tow and take our kids in his truck, he followed us nearly all the way to Santa Maria making sure our tire stayed inflated and we were safe. Charles was so helpful, patient and really cared about our safety. We are so grateful to him and Smitty's towing for going the extra mile to get us safely back on the road. read more

I was quoted one price per specific location to pull us out of mud and was told a driver would be clearing in that area, then charged considerably more once tow was completed. To compound the issue they call back after the payment had been made to insist I transposed a number and they were trying to get an additional $900. What a Shame!!! read more

I cannot say enough about Brian and Smitty's Towing. He was incredibly helpful and totally calmed my frayed nerves. Highly, highly recommend! read more

Called and said they were on their way then cancelled the tire change. It's 3 am I've been waiting for hours.

They gave me a quote over the phone. When they delivered the automobiles the bill was about $100 more than the quote. If you use these guys be careful read more

Neil is the man. He went above and beyond to reccomend that he actually did not need need to tow my leaking 4 runner even though I thought it was needed to get back to morro bay from Solvang. He gave me excellent advice on how to get back without incident and I did. He saved me 300.00 in towing fees. Incredible individual. I was blown away at his customer service and knowledge on my predicament. He is an asset to Smitty's but I'm sure they already know that. All the best, Brian Murphy read more

I'm from LA and was driving here and got a flat it was all bad. I called every tow truck company in the area and since it was Sunday at night no one was there to help also because my car is very low every company told me they don't have the specific bed to tow my car. Smittys to the rescue! They were the only company that had the truck to tow my car and Charles was really nice and went above and beyond. He towed my car back to LA and was always communicating with me also updating me all the time. Thanks guys for the tow and a huge thanks to Charles for making it a awesome experience. What can I say . First , I was in the towing industry for many years . I've been in the service industry for longer that I care to admit . My motorcycle broke down on the 246 in Lompoc . Called AAA. A lot of mis information there . Got ahold of smiths towing . Couldn't not have been happier as to how they conduct business . Professional , personable and attention to detail !! Brian was my service tech . Spent the next hour and a half with him and you'd have thought we knew each other forever . Very personable and highly knowledgeable in his trade . Just what to thank Smittys Towing and Brian for a job well done and handling my situation like professionals ! read more

Besides the fact that they forgot to send someone at the agreed upon time and showed up 30 minutes late making me late for my appointment at the autoshop, the driver himself was very nice and professional. He was very experienced and handled my car with ease on his flatbed. Not sure if I would use them again if I need them to show up at an exact time. read more

William wins the award for 2020 badassery! He towed my oversized van that 3 other companies were too pussy to move! Thank you to Smitty's for allowing driver's to be bold and trust their equipment. You rock! read more

I wish I could give them 10 STARS......Long story short, I was broke down on 101 near SLO while towing my travel trailer after a family vacation. Stranded on the shoulder of the freeway for 4.5 hours as local tow companies would not take on the job from AAA. Smitty's came to the rescue even though they were located 30 miles to the south of where I was. Their driver (I will call him Big Jim) was amazingly patient and got me into a campground that i was able to find that would accommodate me while my truck was getting worked on.. This required him to tow my truck which was towing my trailer. Then when we got to the campground, un-hitching the trailer from my truck and then setting my truck aside. Hitching up the trailer to his tow truck and parking it. Then re-hitching my truck to his tow truck and parking it. SERVICE SERVICE SERVICE. I was sort of a wreck and Jim was nothing but assuring as he calmed my nerves and told me he would do whatever it took to get me and my rigs to wherever they needed to go. Amazing......I hope I never ever have to use them again, but if I do, I know I will be in good hands read more

The tow driver couldn't have been nicer. Had to get my car out of a really weird space. Never lost his temper. Treated me like the customer. read more

We called them to fuel one of my trucks than out of fuel in Arroyo Grande, Ca. Apparently they did not have any luck starting the truck, so we had one of their wreckers come out of Santa Maria, Ca (15 miles away) and bring it to my Yard in San Luis Obispo, Ca (8 miles away) total charge was 1087.00 for this service. completely taking advantage of this situation. The tow truck driver could not figure out how to prime a diesel apparently so we had to get in towed. DFT will no longer be using Smitty's towing ever. do yourself a favor and call Johnboys towing in the area, very professional and a fair price for their services. read more

Our mercedes sprinter broke down on Hwy 101. During the next 9 hours we had contact with dispatcher, Kimberly , and and two drivers, Julio and Jim. Throughout the ordeal, they were kind, extremely helpful, and concerned about our situation. Our roadside service company gave them misinformation leading to the need for two trucks. We credit them for turning a nightmare into a merely unfortunate situation. This is an awesome company! read more

This towing service is fantastic. I had a flat tire in my driveway today and couldn't find the lug nut thingy which unlocks the tires. Called Geico, who were also as wonderful as usual, and they dispatched Smitty's Towing. They arrived well within their estimated time, loaded up my car and took me to the local Walmart Tire Store, which ended up being closed due to compressor problems, which we discovered only after the car had been unhooked from the tow truck. Instead of having to have a second tow, the driver, a very charming young man with a beard, made sure I had enough air in the tire to limp over to the local Big Brand, and didn't leave until he saw that I was on my way. Great service and a very pleasant tow truck driver. Thank you, Smitty's! read more

These guys were awesome! Great attitude even though my piece of junk car was not easy to get onto the truck.
