Today I locked my keys in my van at the vet. After my insurance company assigned Gil's to the job, I called and let them know I was stuck at the vet with my dog, and asked if he might be able to come sooner than the 60-90 min time quoted. He said no problem, see you in 10 min. True to his word, he arrived quickly, opened the door for me and was on his way! So grateful to not be stuck at the vet with my injured and bandaged pup! read more

I have USAA insurance for my big F250 7.3 w 4 inch lift. They sent Gil's towing. Tito the driver was awesome, polite, clean, knowledgeable, helpful. Their flatbed tow truck handled the 9000 lb truck with ease. Tito knew exactly where to take the truck. I felt calm and confident knowing they had the truck and delivered it the shop I requested. read more

I lock myself out of one of my cars every couple months. Gill's gets me back in every time. They're always busy but I still recommend. They're cool. read more

USAA assigned Gil's towing to me on a Saturday around 1:30pm. The automated tracker estimated a 90-min wait. I called Gil's to establish personal contact, and they were most helpful (and pleasant). They acknowledged the tow request, and said they would call when the driver was 10 minutes out. That call came around 2:00pm, and minutes later, Ben pulled up and had my car on his tow truck in about 5 minutes! Ben was very friendly, professional, and confident. No one ever wants to have to call a tow service, but Gil's helped take some of the sting out via their great service. Thanks guys!! Cheers! RS read more

Chris s a very professional recovery operator and I intend to use the company here on forward. It was a pleasure thank you!

I needed a jump due to my battery being dead. I put in the claim through our insurance, they sent me to Gil's Towing. I waited about a hour, but a nice young man showed up at the earliest part of the window of time I was given. I was very happy with the results and service. read more

Vincent is the man! Beyond nice! We called and he was here and had it changed within thirty minutes. Thank you for saving our night. read more

Unfortunately I have had to use Gil's towing on multiple occasions and each time it is the same pattern of making you wait longer than you expect. I have asked my insurance company to remove Gil's from the list of service providers because of this. It goes like this: the insurance sends the request for service, a vehicle tow or in this case, locked out of the vehicle- and Gil's will automatically send a response that they took the call and will be there in 30 minutes. I'll call them directly and a man will answer and say that it will actually be 60 minutes to wait. But the 60 minutes come and go, and then they will keep updating their ETA in 30 minute increments. Then I will call again and the man will say sorry but it will be longer than expected. I don't think it's fair to the customer that they take the calls right away because they want the business but don't mind making you wait for hours. The last time I needed a tow, they quoted me and my insurance company 60-90 min. Wait which is average although I was on the side of a very busy highway- I understood that it could be a while. But then when the 90 minutes came and went, and I called them back and was told that it could take up to 6 hours. I canceled the call right after the man became rude after I asked why 6 hours if I waited 90 minutes and was on the side of a really busy highway. read more

Fail. I called and asked for a quote on a small towing job. Dispatcher forwarded my number to a tow truck driver. He asked for my address and never showed up. A few days go by and I called again. Was told they were too busy and my job was too unusual for them. Putting a wheel on a hub with 4 bolts and towing a trailer 10 feet away is too unusual for them. I called Santa Maria Towing and they did it in 45 minutes with no problem. read more

My roadside car policy takes care of the call for help & billing . Today, Sunday October 20. I called my insurance provider and asked for a jumpstart for my car battery. I am single woman and I was stranded. My phone needed charging . I waited patiently. I waited for four hours . Gills Towing of Santa Maria never showed up. Once I charged my phone, I called them and reminded them they sent me a text as of 3:30 pm stating that they would be there in 30 minutes. They never showed up. They never helped me. He told me" he thought I didn't need help anymore ". I plan to pursue this with my insurance company requesting Gills towing never to assist me and recommend that they no longer do business with Gills towing of Santa Maria. if I find that my insurance company continues to do business with Towing I will switch insurance companies. I allow my money to speak for me. This is my experience with Towing of Santa Maria . read more

Terrible customer service. Do not recommend. The person on the phone said someone had been trying to call me to let me know a tow truck was out and I explained that I'd picked up the phone and no one answered. She proceeded to let me know that it was my problem and the service was subsequently cancelled. Locked my keys in the car. The driver was friendly, professional and overall made a great experience!!!!

Uncomfortable, unsafe, and unprofessional. Insurance company assigned Gil's Towing to me to fix a flat tire in my driveway. The service person, Ben, made uncomfortable comments, such as "changing a tire is hard, especially for women" then winked and laughed, asked how much I bought my vehicle for, asked if I lived at the house where my vehicle was parked, asked how much I paid for my house and if I would sell it for $XXX,XXX dollars, etc. After the spare tire was installed, the pressure was low so I asked him to fill air in the tires. He said he didn't have a pressure gauge and his air compressor was broken, then he abruptly left. If that was true, then it is highly ill-prepared for a towing truck to not have a pressure gauge nor functioning air compressor. read more

My car wouldn't start this morning and never having to encounter this I have no idea what to do. My insurance company set me up with Gil's towing. I got a call from James less than 10 minutes after I placed the request and he was here in about 15 minutes after that. I was shock and expecting it would have taken longer than that. Another gentleman from Gil's also called to let me know that they dispatched a truck to my location. James was very knowledgeable, helpful and made a stressful situation not so bad. read more

DO NOT USE IF YOU EXPECT COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS!!!! My 84 year old father had spinal surgery less than 1 week ago and this morning a driver selfishly compromised his safety. The driver was at my parents house for a very short time to jump start and tow their car. During this short time, he claimed he needed to use the restroom, and my father agreed to in order to an avoid an awkward exchange. There are plenty of public bathrooms. This is in the middle of a pandemic, where it's not safe for extended family to enter anyone's home. How dare this company! My father is immune compromised and they knowingly put him at risk! Unacceptable read more

Okay. I've never had to have my car towed before, do I guess I have nothing to compare it too, but my car broke down on the side of road the other day out of no where, no warning.... so after crying for 30 minutes. I finally called a tow truck. For a few minutes I was crying more thinking of how much it would cost, how long I was going to have to wait in the rain. Lo and behold, this place showed up so fast!!! And the worker was so nice. And I couldn't believe how inexpensive it was. Something I thought was going to be so terrible, was actually very easy and hassle free. Like I said, it's my only towing experience, but I'm glad it was a pleasant one. :) read more

My insurance company contacted Gil's for me after a breakdown and I feel fortunate for their service. They were much more affordable than even a local/in the same town/in the same county service. Poor service. Unfortunately my auto insurance contracts with Gil's so I did not have an option. Made the call for a tow at 9:30am through my insurance. Received a text 30 minutes later from Gil's, no ETA. Tried calling Gil's by phone, phone rang and rang, no answer, no voicemail option. On the 4th try, got though. Was assured someone would be there in 45 minutes. After an hour and a half, the driver told my insurance he was at my location, which he wasn't. Finally, 10 minutes later, he showed up, more than 2 hours after service call. He apologized for the delay, and expressed surprise that his boss did not dispatch another available driver. He stated there were other drivers, but he did not start work until 11am. I can understand delays - as long as they are justified. But the dishonest reporting to my insurance and the extended delay shows neglect and unethical business practices. There are other tow companies in the area. One stopped by my location asking if I needed assistance and offered me some bottled water. I wish my insurance contracted with them instead. read more

Tow operator from Gil's Towing took a suspiciously long time to tow my car just 3 blocks. At the time, i didn't think much of it, but it was the only time that my keyring (with all the keys that I use) were out of my sight. Fast forward two weeks later and there were signs of someone(s) had entered my apartment unit. In hind sight, trusting the operator with my keys was my mistake. But I didn't think he would compromise the professional trust that should have been customary. The tow service was on 4/22/23 in Los Osos, CA. read more

Gil's Towing was called by the dealership to pick my car and me up in Santa Ynez, and drive us to Santa Maria. The driver Tito called me to say when he would arrive, and he was right on time. He was fast and efficient with the loading, all the while being careful with the car. He was a very pleasant young man, a good driver, and very friendly and courteous. The truck had AC...it was hot outside and it was VERY comfortable in the cab, both temperature and also the cab was clean and the seat clean and comfortable. I recently rented an RV for vacation, and on the second day it broke down on the side of the highway, 150 miles from my home and literally in the middle of nowhere. I called for roadside assistance because the RV was not driveable. Although we had to wait almost 7 hours for a tow truck to come, when it did arrive I was relieved. The driver Vicente was amazing. Although it was almost 7:00 at night and time for him to go home, he was extremely nice and friendly. He drove us to the repair shop and made sure that we were okay before he left.
