I told the gal (some new young blonde), who has cut my hair once before that I only wanted the ends trimmed lightly, like a 1/4". She started in the back and she kept going, then I noticed 1" strands of hair she cut off. I told her to stop and asked what she was doing. She said layering the back. This was super disappointing and it will take 6 months to get it back to where it was. I know, it's only hair, but they should at least follow clear directions I gave her.
