I had not been to a barber for many years but decided to try Cecil's out this time. I walked in, was greeted by a couple of the barbers and sat down in one of the leather sofas Cecil has for waiting. The lady sitting next to me asked me if I had an appointment and I said I did not, and she got up and asked if I needed a haircut (yes, she worked there). Kimberly then proceeded to give the sides and back of my head a perfect snip (#3 blade) while we chatted about Cecil's history. There actually was a Cecil, he started the barbershop way back in 1944 (it was closer to downtown Vancouver back then), but over the years it has moved a couple of times, resting in its current location for over six years now. The shop, when I was there, was being run by all women, including Cecil's granddaughter who now manages the shop. I was in and out in less than 10 minutes and without a reservation (altho I will make one next time as Cecil's had people coming in throughout my time there, all with appointments). A great cut at a great price, what's not to like?! read more

Absolute the worst experience. I walked in, don t get greeted by anyone, sit and wait for 15 min just to realize other people that came in after me were invited to have a haircut without any appointment either. I m then asked to come after 30 min just so hat the barber can go have a cigarette and chat on the phone for 20 min. Disgraceful read more

This place seems not so nice for me upon entering the barber shop last month of October. The lady who had a customer asked me if I had an appointment and I told her it's my first time here. I asked her if there was anyone after her customer and she said, no, but she turned me away saying, I am sorry but I can't take you... How rude and racial she was for a white girl! Karma is not far from you!! read more

My first time getting a hair cut at Cecil's and it was a really nice experience. I called at 10 am, and they got me an appointment right away, 11:30am with Jean. Jean was friendly, and had great suggestions on how to trim my hair. Highly recommended, and I'll definitely come back. Thanks Cecil's read more

My husband had been going to Cecil's for 5+ years, he first started as a walk in most of the time and then he started seeing Kimberly and after a while she passed home to another barber Ellie, with no explanation as to why but said she wouldn't see him anymore. He is unsure why, he tipped 20% always but she did complain a lot that his leg was in the way (he has an artificial leg that doesn't bend) or that he was too tall.... Whatever, he started seeing Ellie and loved her, she did a great job with his haircut (High & Tight) and goatee trim, Ellie changed her days so he can no longer see her due to his work schedule conflicting with her days so she set him up with Kimberly again. Today he showed up for his appointment that he schedules 4-5 weeks out every time and was told he had no appointment and there was none available till early afternoon (5 hours). He left and will not be back!!! read more

Always great service, friendly staff, and competitive pricing! Love getting my hair cut here!

Wish I still had enough hair to go here. Best shave and a haircut too bits there has ever been

I came into Cecil's on a whim, great environment and old school feel of what you want from a barber shop. Laurana cut my hair the first time has done my last 20 haircuts. Always professional, listens patiently makes suggestions always helpful. I've 20 awesome haircuts! I'm not sure who owns Cecils, but who ever it is runs a very professional shop, big thumbs up. read more

Been coming here for a few years now, and this is the only place I will go as long as I live in the area. I've never had a bad haircut from any of the barbers, but I've been a regular of Trish for the last year or so. They make you feel like an old friend when you walk in, and the price of a cut is extremely fair, in my opinion. They've done a good job for how they handle customer safety in the current times of Covid-19, It's been great to have a regular haircut again! read more

Although I use Yelp to choose literally everything, I've never posted a comment before. I just wanted to say that this spot was awesome. Kristin helped me and was very professional. Amazing! Haircuts in movies aren't this good. They've mastered the mid fade. It's not just fade the line. They groom the whole hairstyle. White hair, black hair they do it all and I always leave feeling like a million bucks. Comfortable and cool. Like it a lot. read more

Great haircuts! I have been going to Cecil's for at least 17 years. They do a great job. I've never gotten a haircut there that I didn't like. Told Trish what I thought I wanted and she offered a couple different options (one of which I went with) and it turned out much better than my usual cut. I've come here twice before to get my sons hair cut and thought, what the heck, I'll try it out since it's closer to home. I got my hair cute and I thought it looked great. However, when I got home my girlfriend pointed out that the barber I had buzzed my hair down to the skin in the back of my head by accident (I'm assuming by accident). My hair was finger length with a quarter sized buzzed hole in my hair. When I went back, I was told that it was a bald spot. I have never seen that in my hair before and I'm sure that in a span of a couple days, I did not loose all of my hair in that quarter sized spot. Nor has any barber ever mentioned that before. I'm more pissed that she didn't have the integrity to tell me she made a mistake. No she would rather be dishonest and hope I didn't notice. How can you hire someone who doesn't have any integrity? For them selves or your business. I'm appalled. It's downright disgusting behavior! read more

Hello, My name is Adam Daggy. To some of you, I might be better known as the lyricist Threadcount. To others, I might be more familiar from my appearance in Trendlines, a premier grain storage and transportation trade journal. But to the people who know me best, to my compatriots and to my trusted advisors, I am recognized most as a wholehearted fan of Cecil's Barber Shop. I wasn't always this way. In my wild youth I would grow my hair with reckless abandon. It would curl and tangle and wave and hang. Inches even. I shudder at the memory. And when it got too long, did I have a favorite place to go? Not this heathen! I'd sell my soul to any old stylist or have it cut by a girlfriend or by a classmate in exchange for lecture notes. It's hard now to admit these things, but I was once so young and lost. Cecil's saved me. It gave me hope. It turned this wrong headed brigand into a man with a fade and a neckline and a future, and it can do the same for you. If you enter a competing barber shop, will your hair get shorter? It might. But why risk it? When it's time to lower your ears, there only one establishment you should trust: Cecil's Barber Shop, serving the greater Vancouver area since... well, I don't really remember when, but they started a long time ago. Really, the photos are all in black and white, it's crazy. At Cecil's Barber Shop, they give expert haircuts. It even says so on the sign. read more

I don't leave reviews often, but Cecil's was definitely worth it! Ever since finding this place about a year ago, I don't dare step foot in a different barber shop than here. Stepping into the place, you are immediately greeted and feeling welcome. I've had a haircut from practically everybody there, and I must say, I was greatly satisfied with them all! However, my go-to barber is Trish, and if you get the opportunity, take it. Trust me, you won't regret it. I was very indecisive and unsure on how I wanted to cut my hair, but Trish was able to talk it out and provide feedback. Needless to say, I came out with the best cut that fits my face and have been getting it every month! It's life changing to be able to have a barber who knows you, your hair, and able to talk to. read more

Sami is the lady fader to see, she's efficient but the quality work she produces is beyond words, shell do exactly what you ask but not with out giving an expert opinion which is always appreciated standing behind a chair all day she sees all kinds of things and she knows what she's doing so to have someone who will be honest and give feedback instead of just doing the haircut to get the next person back to make the next dollar makes all the difference in the world. Make an appt or just walk in but either way get in with sami, If she could make the picky boys in my family happy she can make anyone happy! read more

Very unprofessional . I went to get my hair cut yesterday I had a 9:00am appointment. She opened early to slip someone in before me. when I got there it was about 8:50am the person walked in and she started cutting their hair. She seemed to forget my appointment at 9:00am At 9:05am they were not done yet. I left and I will not be back because of Her. She had no business having some one come in before 9:00am The first appoint was me ! She should be spoken to and taught to be more professional. You do not treat people like this. I loved this place But I will not come back because of Her. I hope the owner speaks to her. I choose to find a more professional barber shop. the barber is trish read more

I've been getting my haircut by Jennifer Garcia for years. She is both professional and an expert at cutting my hair exactly like I like it. Short! It's hard to find someone who will work with you in finding the look you want and keep that look.
