Sol have been going to them for two years. They recently opened a location in Ankeny. Which was…read moresuper awesome since we live in Ankeny. Wasn't such a great experience! They have absolutely horrible customs service. The one in Des Moines would give a call the day before your appointment every time. Never missed a confirmation call at all. Then switching to the one at Ankeny they never would call the day before. So I would try and check my calendar and call to make sure we were still good to go. Then one day I didn't catch my calendar the day before and call and I missed the appointment. So I called and apologize and let them know that I was sorry I missed the appointment and they said we called you the day before and confirmed and I advised them I had no reminder call. I informed them that I take half credit for missing the appointment but I'm used to getting the reminder call cause they do it at the other location regularly. So I feel like they should be half responsible. She said that it is a curtesy that they call anyway and that if I miss the appointment that's on me. So she said if I wanted to rebook I had to repay the full booking fee! So I asked for the owner I. So the owner called me and was rude and said that they would credit the booking fee but one of my three cats would no longer be able to come and get groomed because she was an issue. This after bring up that the Ankeny location was having tons of issues. I guess they are short staffed and can't handle the business they are getting so I said I would be taking my cats somewhere else and the own was ok that fine and hung up the phone. Would not recommend them to anyone!!

Got them home and my golden retriever has matts behind both ears that weren't brought to my attention by them or weren't taken care of by their groomers. You'd think if while bathing and brushing out a dog you find matted fur you'd talk with the owner or you'd work out the matted hair before sending them home. Have brought my girls her many many times and service has gone way down hill the last 3 times they've gone so likely will be looking for a new groomer. Service quality is going down but their prices sure aren't! $140+ for a basic bath package with low shed added for 2 medium/large dogs is getting too high for the quality office the service!

The following day she developed a rash and thought it was the short hairs rubbing in her skin folds causing irritation. By the second day the area was bright red and oozing. We had to visit an urgent care vet as it was the weekend at this point and learned that she had a serious bacterial infection that was secondary to a suspected clipper burn. Multiple pain relievers and antibiotics later she's thankfully on the mend but $75 grooming turned into a $325 vet bill and a broken heart seeing our girl in pain. I know things happen but I am disappointed that this was our experience the first time taking her, I trusted the groomers to take good care of her and unfortunately that just didn't happen. We will not be returning but wanted to leave the review for awareness.

Well my dog can't eat it. It may be too rich compared to what she's been eating. I called the store this morning and told the lady about it. She said they can't take back the food, after it's been opened. I have never been told that. Every where I have bought dog food from, guarantees it, or will take it back for a refund, or a replacement of another kind. I will never do business with these people again. When people do business like this, they don't care about your pet, it's all about making money. So now they have my money, 31.00 to be exact. I'm out that money, and have to spend probably about sane amount on another bag of food she can eat.

*please read all* I…read morewent and picked up my dog today after a long 4 day weekend, he's been boarded before and no one has ever had an issue with aggression or anything else concerning. I take him to the dog park here in Norwalk and he plays with other dogs just fine around balls, toys and around the water fountain and zero issue. I showed up to pick up my dog who was a shelter dog and was told that he got really aggressive towards another dog and that he cannot stay at their facility again unless he goes through their training which I'm sure costs an arm and a leg. I just told them ok because I can find other places to take my dog. I was fine with that. When I got home with my dog he SPRINTED towards his water bowl like he hasn't drank in days. That is where I draw the line. There's no reason to treat a pet like this and I hope other people do not have the same experience as I did. Should be a zero star I'm so upset.

I'm extremely disappointed with my experience at Heart of Ankeny Animal Hospital…read more We were sold a prevention plan and were explicitly told by the tech that nail trims were included. Both my husband and I heard this, and it was a major reason we agreed to the plan. When our puppy needed a nail trim, I called and mentioned that I had the prevention plan that included nail trims and asked if I needed an appointment. They scheduled me right away. When I arrived, I was told nail trims were not included and would cost $27. This should have been clearly communicated on the phone. Mistakes happen, but there was no accountability and no effort to make it right. When I asked for a refund since the plan was misrepresented, I was now charged $30 for the nail trim because I was "no longer a member" and didn't receive member pricing. They clearly value transactions over relationships. It's unfortunate because Dr. Quinn was great, but the business side is poorly handled. I won't be returning.
