Do not EVER bring your dog here. This is a warning for ALL pet owners. I took my dog Archie here to be boarded when I went out of town. When I picked him up, I looked in his bag and there was an alarming amount of food leftover. I found out that he had not eaten Friday evening, all day Saturday, and had still not eaten when I picked him up Sunday at 4 pm. They did not once call me and let me know he hadn't been eating. I spoke with the manager Courtney following the incident and she was very apologetic and took the time to talk with me about the incident. I am out of town again this week, and I decided to give them another try, leaving clear instructions to "doctor up" his food if he didn't show interest in eating. I had to have someone else drop him off on Sunday afternoon, as I was already out of town. I had booked this boarding reservation for him prior to the last time he was boarded, and left them clear instructions about what I was wanting for him while he was boarded. I received a call on Sunday with them having to ask me all the questions again as they did not write down any of the information I told them last time. They then called me back about an hour later threatening me saying he could not stay because I did not have an updated copy of his vaccination record. It was Sunday night and my vet office was obviously closed, however I let them know it could be sent over first thing in the morning at 7:30. They were extremely rude and made me feel stressed out about my dog while I'm 1500 miles away on vacation. They gave me a call back and said they cleared it with their manager to let him stay. The next morning on Monday I went to look at the live cameras they keep in the daycare rooms. It was 1030 in the morning in Iowa, and Archie was nowhere to be seen in daycare even with the clear instructions that he was supposed to have a full day of day care each day of his stay. I called them and asked why he wasn't in daycare, and they said that they could not get him out of his kennel. They said that he was nervous. He's a 10 pound dog, so I have a hard time believing they were not able to get him out of his kennel. I spoke with the manager Courtney and she said that he was just nervous so she decided to not put him in daycare. I'm sure all dogs are nervous their first day being boarded after not being there for a while, but this meant he had been in his kennel since 4 PM on Sunday and it was now 10:30 in the morning on Monday. As soon as I got off the phone with them I kept the live cameras up, and they put him right in the day care room. Which makes it very hard to believe they were unable to get him out of his kennel. The staff here is completely incompetent and rude. The weekend staff is even worse than the week staff. They do not care about the animals, they don't care if they're properly eating, and they don't care about the customers concerns. They were able to call and threaten me with him not staying because of a vaccination record, but they did not give me a courtesy call letting me know why he wasn't in daycare. I've seen several other reviews stating that dogs have even died here, and I've seen several reviews of people having the same experiences as me. I had someone go pick him up early before my vacation is even over because I did not want him staying there. This is a long post, but I felt like it was important to share everything that went wrong here. Do not take your dog here. There are several other better places that genuinely care about animals, and this place is not one of them. I take my dogs Bailey and Stella to the Clive 4 Paws location and absolutely love it! Our dogs our like our kids and are very spolied so I am extra picky on where I take them. The staff at 4 Paws is so friendly and they are always excited to see my dogs. On the mornings when I take my dogs, I ask if they want to go to daycare and they get so excited! Today when I let Bailey off the leash she was doing hot laps in the entry. I am so pleased with their service and the care they give my dogs. The best part is picking them up after work and having them sleep for days! I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a daycare center or boarding facility for their dogs. I take my dog Scooby to 4 Paw Unleashed about twice a week, and he loves it! When I drop him off in the morning he runs right in and I no longer even get a "goodbye" look! LOL I am a cancer patient and can't walk or exercise my dog as much as I did before, so 4 Paws is PERFECT for us. Scooby gets exercise and social interaction, and I don't have to feel guilty when I am too tired to play. Scooby is also older and can be a little high maintenance, and I love the fact that the staff pays attention to his reactions and will do whatever they can to make sure he's comfortable and happy. We starting going to the Ankeny location and quickly found Cory was very receptive to our dog. she helped socialize her and we were able to add another dog to our household. When the Clive location opened, we were very happy - it is very close to our house. We take both of our dogs to daycare twice a week. We couldn't be happier! I am watching my older dog on streaming live cam as I type out this review. The staff at the Clive location are able to handle our dogs with respect and really seem to care. Recently Cory turned over the management of the Clive location, but the attention to the animals hasn't changed. read more

Chloe loves going to 4 Paws Unleashed Clive! She always, always, always has a funtastic time and comes home and zonks on the couch. In the morning all i need to say is lets go to daycare and she is sitting by the door with a toy in her mouth. She knows when she gets close because she lays down in the backseat until we hit the lights by kum and go and then she is up jumping around waiting for me to open the door. Our little girl Montie loves going to 4paws. She jumps up and down when we get there. I can honestly say it is her favorite place to go! I also enjoy the break from our little puppy, I get a lot accomplished when she is at school. The staff are really great, they have been very patient with Montie as she is working through her puppy growing pains. I can tell they really care about her. We recommend taking your dog/dogs to 4 Paws Unleashed. We take our little girl, Prudy there. She gets to socialize with other dogs and she also gets attention from the staff. The best part of her going to doggie daycare is that she is always tired when she gets home and all she wants to do is cuddle with us. Keep up the good work! read more

Manny & Max absolutely love going to Four Paws Clive! We have used their services, both boarding and daycare, and have been very happy. They are always worn out after a day at daycare, and get so excited when we pull in the parking lot. read more
