Everything about our experience eating here falls into the category of "perfectly fine but nothing exceptional." That describes the atmosphere (rather generic), the service (adequate, no more, no less), and the food. I ordered the fried shrimp basket and my partner got a cheeseburger. Now, this SCORE is hiding in the Teen Challenge thrift store!! I can't believe out of all places in the world this great restaurant is located in a thrift shop and I'm so happy I got let in on the secret of Seaford, Delaware. I'm always starving for seafood, especially crabcakes. And whenever I'm on the east coast I already have my mind made up to find a new great place. I'm used to Maryland style crabcakes but today it's a different kind of treat. They were fried with crust on the outside but had no bread fillings. It was pure crab meat and straight delicious. That came with 2 pickable sides being asparagus and baked cinnamon apples. Today I ordered the soup on special which was Cream of Crab and I've never had that before but became my #1 of soups. It's that flavorful and just scrumptious. The delightful, yummy strawberry crème pretzel desert is the highlight of my meal today. I was very lucky to get to take a nibble off the Special of day being Stuffed Shrimp with 2 sides being Mac n cheese and beets. This delectable is 4 jumbo shrimp baked with pure crab casserole. Between the awesome hospitality service that Patty gave and the delicious home cooked food I can see why this place gets packed. There is a 2nd overflow renovation room. It's very nice here and not to mention the fresh salad bar I seen on the way in. I just can't say enough about this fabulous restaurant and highly would recommend it. By now if you read the reviews this is in Teen Challenge thrift store (great group). This is were locals go and a lot of homemade food. We stopped by for lunch. It was busy but we were seated right away. Waitress was there right away. They have a good size menu and a large amount of specials on the white board. We ordered homemade crab soup,butterfly shrimp ,fries . The crab soup was different not creamy like what I'm used to. It was fair to good and I would order it again. The shrimp was out of the box frozen blah won't get that again. The fries were barely ok. Next order was the chicken and dumplings, salad and coleslaw. The dumplings are made in house, so tender they melted in your mouth but the gravy was a bit watery. I would get this again but a thicker gravy would have been awesome. They have a salad bar but our waitress got us a salad and it had plenty of ingredients in it and the blue cheese dressing was good. The coleslaw had to much of something in it. I couldn't tell what but I think pickle juice. It was fair but my taste buds were fighting the urge to pucker. Lunch was around $31 mainly due to $5 for soup and $6 for the cherry cheesecake. Definitely going back . I say give it a try. read more

You get your choice of soups which today happens to be dry lima, peas and dumplings, or stuffed pepper soup. The prices are the best. They are known for the peas and dumplings soup, beef and dumplings, and chicken and dumplings. But I don't like dumplings whether flat or fluffy! Breakfast is awesome here. Tell me where you can go for $4.70 and get a blueberry pancake, one egg, and one meat? Even better the breakfast specials on "special" board come with coffee . They call that a 1-1-1 ... and yes it sounds like trucker CB radio talk Breaker..Breaker..1 1 1! This is the best restaurant in Seaford and "yes" it happens to be in a thrift store. I used to eat at Smiths many years ago by the Georgetown Circle and I'm a long time fan! The Smith Island cakes are Devine! Buttery mile hike cake. What an unexpected and joyful find! Like others, I couldn't believe that this restaurant was located INSIDE a thrift shop (my grandmother would have loved this place!), but it was remarkably good. Better than the Cracker Barrel. The waitress was friendly and delightful. The menu had a nice variety (but not TOO much). I had the country fried steak and it was tender and perfect. Overall, just a great experience. Skip the chain restaurants and stop here. You won't be disappointed. Thanks for a great dinner and a great memory. read more

Weird location but SO worth it! Got the crabcake and coleslaw - definitely didn't disappoint. Great homemade food and generous portions. I did not try their desserts because I'm in "sugar recovery" (ha) but they looked amazing. Menu has a very large selection of dishes. I was hoping to enjoy the food at a local cafe. You don't expect much because it's attached to a thrift store and you enter through the musty smelling store to enter the restaurant. I did like the waitress she was friendly and attentive. The food on the other hand was less than desirable. I ordered the liver and onions with mashed potatoes and green beans. The liver was extremely dry and lacked flavor the gravy was obviously from a package and the onions were hardly cooked. The mashed potatoes were ok but tasted like they may have been made with powdered milk. The green beans were the tastiest vegetables I have ever tasted, they were mushy and tasted of vinegar. I wanted to give this place a chance but the previous time I attempted to eat here we were disregarded and not seated. Poor service is an indication of poor management and poor management is detrimental to a restaurant. Best of luck to this location but it will possibly be my last time going here for a meal. If we do give them another try I will be sure to update my assessment of them. read more

Interesting location in the back of a thrift store in Seaford. A large group of us bikers were seated immediately. The drink orders came out promptly and accurately. Looking at the typical diner menu choices, with both breakfast and lunch choices available, I was shocked by the low prices. I went with breakfast, and wasn't disappointed. Sides missing, food scrambled in the tray, and poor presentation. I called to speak with the manager as a business owner reporting the happenings in hopes of improvement. My calls resulted in a hang up. I called back .....never an offer to replace the missing sides or to make it right . totally rude , uncaring , and unprofessional. A large group of about 18 people ate lunch there on Dec 6. When this was set up there was no mention of an automatic gratuity. We understand there is most always a gratuity for large parties, however, we were charged over 30% gratuity! There was only 1 server taking care of our group and she was horrible. I thought she was new but later informed she has 15 yrs experience. Food all came out at different times, she had to ask who had what meal, no one had their drink refilled until we were ready to go, and she never came back to see how things were. When we questioned about the tip at the checkout we were told by the two unconcerned staff members at checkout there was nothing they could do and the manager was not there. I called when I got home, manager still not there. I asked for a call back and have been waiting for 5 days. We will not be returning to this restaurant which is a shame since the food is good and prices are fair. There is just no need to scalp customers in a party with an insanely ridiculous gratuity...especially for poor service. Several of us will not return here due to this. read more

I'm afraid Smith's has to be updated to our "do not dine" list. Why? Service, the ongoing issue we've had here since they opened. For the second time we've found ourselves waiting so long for a hostess that we eventually walked out. The restaurant was mostly empty; 2 young women were working the counter right next to us but totally ignored us. Several servers walked by and didn't say a word. We waited and waited and waited...at 4pm on a Friday. A crying shame, because I really enjoy the food. This is where chains excel: they train the staff on how to greet the customer. All anyone had to do was acknowledge us and spend 30 seconds getting us in a seat. I don't think we'll try again, not for at least a couple years. read more

I'll be honest, this place being connected to a thrift shop (in the store) was a major warning sign to me. However I was totally wrong and it is some of the best food I have had in this area. I went with the roast beef melt with thousand island instead of horseradish and sauerkraut great great meal and super cheap. For dessert I went with cookies and cream ice cream and I kid you not tasted like it was made hours before.
