The shoppers like to add their own groceries to your bill, charge one card and then return the money to another card leaving you with insufficient funds fee in your original bank card. Kroger / Smith's will not open checkouts to help their customers! They have installed many self checkouts so their customers will work for them for free! They purposely have one or two checkers to make you checkout your own groceries. If they compensated their customers with a 10 to 15 percent discount for checking and bagging your own groceries then fine. If you are waiting in line with many people in front of you go to yelp on your phone and call the manager and tell them to get more checkers. If you feel like me boycott the self checkout. If you think that Kroger is doing you a favor look at their yearly profit and stock holder dividends not including the CEOs salary and other officers of Krogers and see the profiteering. read more

Let me start by saying Smith has a good in store experience. The bakery and grab and go items are really good. But the grocery pick up, customer service and meat quality is atrocious! First of all I order food for a specific time to be picked up . They were nearly an hour late. Then they charged my card 3 times, and didn't substitute anything I was missing a plethora of items. Kids are curious, we weren't giving you any negative feedback, I even have friends that are male that paint their nails. I was simply asking where the mint plants were. For the first time I tried the pick up. The item I wanted was gone when I went yesterday. They said they get deliveries all day and restock when they do. So when I ordered today and it did not say the item was out I assumed they had a delivery. I made sure check to NOT substitute. I wanted specific flavors. I double checked that the order was fulfilled before I left and it said all was good. In total I ordered 11 cases of different flavors of a drink. When I arrived they brought our two cases of vanilla. This was a complete waste of my time for something that was supposed to save me time. The delivery person told me it was an error from the app and the only way to get a response from corporate to get it fixed was to write a bad review. read more

This place put the discounted price tags, but they charge you the higher prices. If you don't check the receipts, you probably don't know it. If you find out, they would say, oh, that was the old tags, the discounts was over. Or they would say someone put the tag in the wrong spots. They purposely use the red cherry price tag next to the yellow cherries so customers think the price is great. But that was a trap. Seriously. It happened to me quite a few times. Thursday 10/16 Smiths: Woods Cross, Utah I decided to shop at this Smith's to use a credit issued by Kroger after a Pharmacy nightmare. I had less than 20 items, so I decided to use go their the self- checkout. During the checkout process, the register malfunctioned and required assistance. The store employee approached my register. I expressed my concern about 6 feet of distance and cross contamination. Now, I understand she has a job to do, but I clearly expressed my concern about her coming in contact with my bags and items. She needed to count my items, AGAIN, I say, "I'm not comfortable with you touching my items. " I would have happily taken the items out of the bag, for her to visually count the items. She blatantly ignored my concerns, she took each item out, touching all my food and personal bags. She works in self-checkout. She's constantly touching screens, people's items, products, ect. I was very upset! She says, "I have a job to do!" I decide to walk away, before I tell her where she can stick that statement! I stopped by the Customer Service desk, I ask for the store number and leave with my items. I arrive home and decide to call the customer service line and file a formal complaint. My call is dropped three times by the #800, I couldn't reach an associate. I decide to wait until the morning. I call in for the 4th time, the agent takes my report and "escalated" the issue to a District Manager. We hang up and I decided to take my business to another Smiths. Friday, I go to the Smiths on 500 South. I end back up in the self-checkout line. Keep in mind, this is the same company, different location, different associate. The same EXACT thing happened! I even warned the associate about the day before. He offered to come spray my food with disinfectant, where he touched them. Are you kidding me? No, thank you! Please save that for items I'm not ingesting. I pay for my items and leave, extremely frustrated. I call the store directly, I speak with the store manager, Jessica! I have never spoken to a more rude individual. I tell her the situation, she doesn't say anything. I tell her, I'm going to call your District Manager and write online reviews, if you're not going to help me! I ask for her manager's name. She says, "I don't know his name!" I respond, "Jennifer, you don't know your own manager's name?" She says, "NOPE!" Then proceeds to tell me she doesn't have to tell me anything because I threatened her. I asked her specifically, when did I do that? What did I say? She responded," you threatened my staff by saying you're going to post a review online. " I'm thinking, no wonder the staff is dysfunctional, look at their leader. I have every right to free speech, I have every right to share the TRUTH with other customers. Just because she doesn't agree, doesn't mean it's a threat! I eventually terminate the call, she was full of piss and vinegar and poor management skills. I decide to call the corporate office, to speak with the District Manager. His name is, Jeff Tripp. Don't worry, he didn't return my phone call either. On my 7th attempt to resolve this issue, I called the #800, AGAIN! Beth, at the call center, said after a report has been filed against the store, nothing else can be done. I tried to explain that it was a different location, she said it was under the same management, so nothing else could be done! So, here I am, writing and sharing my experiences. Clearly, no one cares about following through, taking care of the customer or adhering to rules and regulations being implemented by the state of Utah! Save your money! I needed a birthday card and wrapping paper or a large gift bag. Maybe Kroger things people aren't still having birthdays since covid, but the card selection is almost nonexistent and there were no rolls of wrapping paper and only a handful of small bags. Just a heads sup so you don't waste your time. The store isn't in a convenient location and parking lot is always full and not easy to navigate. For the last 3-4 months, they have been out of everyday supplies and the staff wouldn't tell us what days the trucks come in. read more

Most of my previous review still holds, with a few additions: Getting in and out of this is kind of a nuisance, as is motoring around the parking lot, but of all the Smith's Marketplaces I've been in, this one has by far the biggest toy selection. It is, in fact, kind of glorious and exceeds many of the Wal-Marts and Targets as well. There is the usual array of other stuff you may want to go to Smith's for as well, of course. Inside the store, there is some definite issues with bottlenecking at the various cashier points and this seems largely because there are not enough self-check kiosks, which is nearly inexplicable to me. I'd imagine that businesses of this type should want to load up on those, but this one has a tiny amount, particularly considering the foot traffic in the store. Definitely could improve on that part, but overall, a very worthy place to check out. read more

Figured since I just reviewed the other Smith's, I'd review this one too. Pros: Good NORMAL layout. Clean Store Cons: Terrible Produce and fresh food. Seriously they expire so quickly or are already rotten. I've seen fruit flies here before. Don't waste your money Terrible Garden area. It's over priced and after several attempts over a series of weeks, every time I went everything was dead. (This was during the summer by the way) Sorry, but I'm not paying $15 for a dead plant ‍ If you have to go to a Smith's, I'd choose this one over the one on 2600. At least you can get in and out in a reasonable amount of time because everything is where it should be. Other than that, don't expect to be dazzled here. read more

We literally live a few yards away from here. So we shop here EVERYDAY. The service here is good. Everyone is friendly and helpful. It's always clean and they usually have great sales. I love their produce section. Everything always seems fresh and organized. I love that it's not just a grocery store. They sell some name brand gym attire. Food is fresh, well stocked. The people that work there are genuinely smiling - like they are happy. All of them. All of the time. And willing to help. And able to be found nearby - always. Good selection of vegan friendly foods - would like to see more. The place is clean, refreshing walking in to large lit trees and flowers. This store isn't what it was when it was Fred Meyer and before that Grand Central. I used to really enjoy going in here because they had everything. When Kroger bought out Fred Meyer that all changed. They don't have everything and some departments just don't exist anymore. People who come here and think they are getting a good deal need to wake up. The prices are high here. Sometimes double compared to Target or Walmart. I just don't buy much here and it gets less and less each time I visit. They hooked many of their customers with the fresh values card and the points towards a discount at the fuel center. I don't have a card and I don't want one. The reason why you are getting a discount at the fuel center is because they are charging you more for the purchases you are making. So you aren't getting any kind of deal. They haven't tricked me at all. Mostly I just stop by to browse at the electronics department. However the electronics department is slowly drying up because of technology. If you are willing to look you can get a good deal on a dvd but if you are looking for a new release don't expect a deal. Go somewhere else. As big of a corporation as the Kroger company is I am surprised that they don't offer better prices. read more

Now this store is the best in Bountiful, without fail everything you need is here. Artisan cheese, organic food, Dutch ovens, cloths, make up and garden tools. Gas is always at a great deal here as you accumulate point on your value account you get savings on gas. Pharmacy is way friendly and you can buy a 70" LCD flat screen here too. The restrooms are always clean and checked on hourly. I smile when I come here and I don't mind giving a great store like this my cash. read more

This store is OK, kind of right in the middle of the road. Not worth going out of your for by any means. BUT - we got two ribeye steaks and a couple of sirloin steaks to grille for dinner tonight... OMG! I have NEVER had a more tough ribeye in my entire life!!! They must have been donkey meat or something because they were horrible and it wasn't the way they were prepared or grilled! We will not likely be buying anything else from the meat department here. They are even too tough to be cut up and for stew meat. The rest of the store is on top of its game, but the meat department needs to find a new supplier for their beef! I've never been to such a large smiths. Very clean and well stocked. Especially for how busy this location is. Lots of shoppers! They had a good size self checkout though, which is nice. They also had a place to drop off small kids so parents could shop without their kids whining for random things. That's nice!! I think I'd definitely shop here more if I lived close. read more

I go to this Smith to get my meat sliced, always very happy with it unless CarrieJo does it. The reason why I am writing this review is the first incident i can forgive but the second time just means she probably treats everyone badly. One time I had watched her slice the beef I bought, I watched her drop the meat on the floor she picked it up and wrapped it up to give to me. When she saw that I was watching she then apologized and said she was having a bad day and told me to get another beef and she will slice it for me. I didn't think much of it accept for someone having a bad day. I went this second time Another employee asked Carrie to help me, she put her hands out without saying a work or asking how I would like it, when I called out to her to try to get her attention to let her know how thick I would like it sliced, she just didn't turn around. Sliced all meats the wrong size and I told another employee Tina that I can go to another smith if it's hard for them to cut the meat or even give the good customer service. I went home and told my son and he described CarrieJo had treated him awful in the meat department too like she didn't want to help him and cut his meat wrong. Tina was very understanding and asked me how I would like the meat sliced and took care of me, if I was writing a review for Tina it would be 5 star. I don't have a bad thing to say about this store. The pharmacist is absolutely AMAZING! He really takes the time to explain your meds to you and doesn't act rushed when you have more than a few questions. My kids go straight for the bakery to get a free cookie which is a godsend to me when I go grocery shopping. The produce is awesome there...looks and tastes wonderful. I have no idea how to pick good fruit and the produce guy is ALWAYS willing to help you. I had a question about a tiny orange (cuttie?) and he cut one open right there and let me taste it. Wow! My husband and I only purchase our meat at Smiths. They have a great selection and prices ranges for everyone...this to me is very important because some months are harder than others for our family. They are always willing to help me pick out the type and cut of meat I need. The checkers are always nice but one in particular is my favorite. I don't know her name but she is the one that wears blue eyeliner and has long brown kinda wavy hair. She sometimes checks and she is sometimes in customer service. She is just so awesome. ALWAYS friendly and helpful...I just can't say enough good things about her. Now the clothing department. There is an older woman with VERY short hair (boy cut style?). She is very personable and really takes the time to help you find something. I am horrible when it comes to fashion so when I was looking for a Christmas gift for my 52 yr old mom, she took the reins. She took me around the clothing department and found the most perfect outfits for her. I couldn't believe that someone actually took the time to actually help me find something. Talk about awesome customer service!!!! Bye the way, my mom LOVES her new outfits! When I shop, I usually wear a ball cap and some kind of coat (I am a girl so maybe it just looks weird?). Most places look at me like I am going to steal something. I have even had security follow me at Walmart and other places. Not at Smith's (unless they are ninjas about following me). If, for some reason, you get an activation receipt and no funds are available on the card, you have to go through a MAJOR runaround with people that dont know how to treat people, just to get your money back. if you ever have the UNPLEASURE of having to call Kroger gift card services and you hear the name Angela at the other end of the call, hang up and call back. She is rude, talks over you, yells at you, does not let you get a word in edge wise and does not try to de escalate you if you start getting upset or frustrated. even the people at the store did not know policy, Kroger obviously doesnt communicate well with staff to update policies that are crucial to having a positive relationship with the consumers. fresh market and dicks, here i come. Smith's marketplace has managed to evolve over the years. It huge, clean, organized and affordable. It's no Wegman's but pretty close to the Utah version. Plenty of Peking and you get a discount on gas if you're a loyal shopper. Produce is good. And you can pretty much get just about anything you need here. read more

I like this Smiths over all but many times they don't have what I need the latest was Cook n Serve Vanilla pudding. The lady working there was very nice and tried really hard to help me find it. But when she asked the manager he said it had been discontinued. I was in a hurry but I had to go to another close by Smiths and found it there, the product is not discontinued, it just appears Smiths on 500 South discontinued selling it. I would think that of all the puddings this would be one of the most common ones sold, seems like a bad decision to not sell it. Best items: their new line of artisan breads are delicious, they have the best selection of gluten free and organic stuff. bad: trying to find someone to assist you with a question is difficult, and they have expired things on the shelf, especially in the nutrition section. all in all a well run store and my go to place read more
