This actually happened today when I popped into Dick's: I made my way to the produce area, and along the way I witnessed at least 2-3 people letting out that familiar "Oh, hi!! So good to see you!" that comes when you bump into someone you know while grocery shopping. That's pretty much what you need to know: this is where neighbors go to shop. Where they go to grab their Halloween candy when they run out, where they go to grab crudité for an impromptu get together, and where they bump into each other buying flour, which will be turned into cookies and eventually delivered to that same person who had a happenstance meeting together with them at this market. On a functional level, you need to know it's an Associated Food Stores property, so it feels more like those small town markets, but with all the stuff of that massive grocery co-op. Most people will tell you about the bakery here and I've had their stuff. Donuts, mostly. I'm a fan, that's for sure. It's not fancy, but it's good Americana stuff. I spent my time in the produce aisle today (after dodging reunions) and I think the selection there is just so-so. I had to go the market near me later tonight, and while the one I visited later tonight does try extra hard to have more variety and more price points, it was still evident that Dick's is far from a specialty market. Four Stars for Dick's today. Why you may ask? Because after many many years; today they are loading a large beer case and selling beer! The day some never thought would happen is here. And I was the first person ever to buy beer in the Bountiful location. Dick's is our second choice for groceries in Bountiful but now I won't be avoiding it when I want to add a light alcoholic beverage to my shopping list. read more

Very bad service, The cashier told me my package was open and I asked her to go get me another one or find somebody to go grab another one off the aisle and she refused and said I could go do it. Another time I went in there and had bought Popsicles and the young man bagging the things up just tossed them in my cart broke them all in half and that kind of negates the purpose of a popsicle. read more

I have not visited this store often and the reason why --- employees. The employees are not friendly or helpful. I stopped in today to get a gift card, as I walked the store I was not able to find them. I asked an employee very politely. 'Excuse me sir, do you have gift cards here?' Response 'no acknowledgement, just a point with his hand, over there'. My first thought was wow, normal rude employee interaction. No wonder there are not many shoppers here. I grab a gift card and head to self checkout. I scan the card and the screen beeps and asks for a store employee log in. I get the cashier saying 'You can't buy those at self checkout.' I asked, well it's asking for a store log in, can you help me. Response 'no, go to a cashier over there.' I was not surprised by that rude interaction either. Well I've been buying donuts at Dick's my entire life, but it about to come to an end. I understand you raising your prices, but make the much smaller was a big mistake. You had the greatest donuts in town, but your changing, and soon I'll have to go to Smith's get my donuts, because there will be know difference. Do you think I on buy donuts? Dick's Pharmacy is amazing and Eric always greets us by name. The same can be said of the bakery, amazing! This review is for neither of them, as I would give them a 5! But my last two experiences with their general grocery, specifically their sub-par checkout customer service has made me question whether I want to spend any more money at Dick's. Today for example, the Saturday before Thanksgiving, they only had 2 cashiers open and the lines were 6-7 deep each. 20+ minutes in the checkout line is not acceptable and then they didn't pack all my items into my cart. The previous week, the cashier was slower than dirt, and once my entire order was done she crashed her computer and the manager who came over said she had never seen that happen before. We spent more than 30 minutes in that checkout experience. I can go to Walmart and get better service and a broader selection of groceries - which is my second complaint. Basics that I look for are often out of stock, including today! I just don't have time to waste in the checkout and then have to go to a second store for simple basics. I think they lost a customer today! read more

Dick's Market has become an institution around these parts. Quite nearly one-stop shopping Dick's has local roots, so of course I push to support them, even though it means you might pay a little bit more. The friendliness and courtesy of their staff more than makes up for it. If you shop the specials from the weekly ad, the price nearly balances out when you compare to the big box stores. Their bakery is top notch, with some of the best donuts around. I almost always opt for the chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting. The produce department is also worth a visit, every is top notch and very fresh. They also have a full service pharmacy, deli and floral department, and it's one one the best place to get latex balloons. Those suckers stay afloat for over a week! Or until I have to pop them due to the temper tantrums the ankle biters throw over taking them to bed at night! I also love how this store supports the community, the often have events for the kids in-store. My most recent experience really reinforced how great this store is. An employee noticed I had my hands full with a sleeping ankle biter and a shopping cart. She offered to find me blankets from the lost and found so baby could have a soft place to lay his head. I am consistently appalled at the gross lack of customer service in this store. I would have stopped going there already but they are so close to my house so I will run in for one or two things but then I get mad at myself to subjecting myself to their rudeness. Their employees on the floor can barely make eye contact with you let alone speak to you. Today I saw a cashier treat a woman with $100 bill like a criminal to the point where she upset the lady and she stormed off and the cashier just couldn't figure out why. Plus she proceeded to talk about the customer long after she was gone. Think maybe her name is Trish. Last straw for me. Won't be back. I'm going to give my money where they can be bothered to treat me like a person. read more

I am on a diet, which means I eat a lot of the same stuff. I've found that Dick's is much cheaper than everyone else. Also, a bonus for hiring attractive cashiers. The only downside is not enough organic vegetables and grassfed meat. read more

Dick's Market has been around for as long as I know. Though they're prices are a bit higher than chain grocery stores, they are much more personable and local too. The location is good, in a more residential area and convenient to the East Bench. They just finished renovating the front and rearranging the interior. Although it's been a difficult transition to make finding where everything has been moved, the new look and feel is nice and more open. The really good: their alligator jaws in the bakery are delicious! They have regular, Bavarian and raspberry for variety. Their deli is good. I love their club sandwiches. I've not purchased them in a bit because the price seems to be going up and the size seems to be going down. Dick's is a local institution that will probably be around forever. Higher prices keep me away a lot because chains can give me better prices. read more

I love this store, it's less then a mile from my house and it's easy to get in and out of. They have an excellent bakery too!

I'm a returning resident of the Utah area and have to say, they have gone significantly down hill in their bakery, versus what I remember as a young man growing up. Their quality seems to have become mainstream and nothing special. I worked at Dicks as a teenager, they had this baker that was amazing, I think he has since died and their quality died along with him. Too bad.. read more

The service at this location is dreadful! There are a bunch of grumpy old women that work at the bakery, they don't offer their help and if you ask them questions about the bakery items they give you a poor attitude. There is a huge difference between the quality of product & customer service, between the Centerville location and the Bountiful location. read more

I don't understand the rave reviews for this market. They sell sickly looking fruits and vegetables and charge an arm and a leg for them. Make sure you ALWAYS look at the expiration dates on every item!!! They DO NOT rotate their stock! I am not sure if their employees are being lazy or if the management is trying to pull a fast one on their customers... Expect to see items that are at the least a couple of weeks expired. I once found several packages of regularly-priced Brie cheese that were expired TWO months lying right on the top in the specialty cheese. Speaking of lazy, sub-par employees, their meat department butchers also balk if you ask them to put some butcher paper between your steaks so they don't clump together... (Gee, I thought that was a common practice with butchers). No matter... I don't shop there any more. I spend the extra time going to Harmon's - at least they have standards :) read more

We ordered our wedding cakes from them because I read the reviews and figured it would be good. It was an awful experience and I don't suggest using them for anything. I was soooo not impressed by the service I received. When I went in to talk to them about certain cakes it was like I was from outer space and they had never made a cake before. That should have been my first clue. When the day of my wedding came I never received my actual wedding cake. We ordered a white sheet cake to cut for guest, a 2 tier simple white cake for the bride's cake, and a another sheet cake for the grooms cake that was supposed to be decorated as the world. I took them a picture of how I wanted the grooms cake to look. They said no problem. We received that cake and it was absolutely embarrassing. I couldn't believe they would produce something so terrible. Instead of decorating the cake they literally printed an edible picture of the picture I took in and slapped it on the cake. I was extremely embarrassed. Embarrassed to the point where I asked my photographer and videographer to make sure and not have any pictures of it. That was only the beginning. I never received my brides cake. Dick's Bakery does not deliver so I had a delivery service go and pick up the cakes and deliver them to the venue. Dick's failed to give the courier service all 3 cakes. So mine never got delivered. I was furious. After the wedding I called of course and they asked if I still wanted the cake....no it was a wedding cake. I wanted it on the day of my wedding. I asked for a refund. I got the refund, but after they accused everyone but themselves. They blamed the courier service, then me for not giving a # for the courier service, and then the venue. Mind blown at this point. This is a fair warning. I wouldn't use them. read more
