I signed up for Smith Brothers deliveries about 6 months ago and have been absolutely thrilled with the service and products. The milk is fresh and delicious, the eggs are huge (and delicious!), and the bakery products are yummy. Customer service is phenomenal- these are some of the nicest people I have had the pleasure of dealing with, especially our fantastic milkman! Changing/ adjusting/ skipping my order is very easy with a quick call (no long hold times!) or with a few clicks online. Our delivery comes around the same time of day every Thursday. The only fault I can possibly find is the prices. They are a bit higher than what I can pay at the grocery store (although higher-quality products usually do cost more than the lower-quality options). On things that I would have to go to the grocery store for every few days (milk, bread, and eggs), I feel that the delivery service probably saves me money (and SOOO much time!!) since I don't have to drive to the store, and don't end up buying a bunch of impulse stuff while I'm there. However, on stuff I don't use as often, I usually just pick up from the store. Our family drinks a lot of milk, and it's really nice knowing that it will appear on our doorstep every Thursday! We are busy with usually hectic schedules, and having this task handled for us/ taken off of the 'to-do' list is worth paying the extra couple dollars per week. It also helps that there's no delivery fee (I think the order has to be over $10 for free delivery, which is easy for us). read more

I am very displeased with Smith Brothers Farms. They are discriminating. Their customer service and billing department was very rude. I started up service about two months ago, when my account was just shut off with out warning. They told me that I had a balance that was seven years old. At that time we had gone through a bankruptcy due to the market crash when my husband was a real estate agent. I told the billing department that I had thought the balance had gone in with the bankruptcy. Before I had time to deal with the situation they came and collected the milk box at my home. I guess they don't want my business, but given how they treated me so poorly, I guess it's best. Very disappointed! read more

I have been a Smith Brothers customer for over twenty years. We loved their milk and the ease of getting it. Several months ago we started dealing with a serious family medical situation. I admit I have not been on top of my bills as I normally am. I thought I paid them and I did not. They called several times and I called them back. Once I realized my error I went home a nd paid my bill on line. The disappointing thing to me is I discovered that they have picked up my milk box. Seemed like a good idea. Product quality second to none. Convenience of delivery. However they are unable to control deliveries due to a terrible website. You can have your order delivered every other week which makes the minimum $10 order possible if you live alone. I had every other week delivery for a while that was going fine until I cut back one product. Then instead of getting one less product every other week, I started getting the whole order every week. My order on the web page actually said every other week but was delivered every week. I called SB and the girl insisted there was nothing wrong with the web page and said she straightened it out. She claimed that I had one product on the first week and the other product on the other week. I have no idea how this can happen. There is no way to tell on the website what products are delivered on which week if that were to happen somehow. The web page showed my order every other week in one place and every week in another. The website doesn't show which products are to be delivered on which week. There is no way to straighten this out. The SB girl couldn't do it. I thought, there has to be some way. I tried various things including deleting the whole order and starting over but you can't do that. Then I tried to close my account and start over but you can't do that either. The web page looks clean and simple but under the nice exterior it's a cluster. Unrelated to SB my visa number was hijacked yet again and my bank closed that number and opened another. Got an email from SB reminding me to update my number. Due to the constant leak of my visa number I had started using paypal but SB doesn't have paypal. As I was mulling what to do about this a girl from SB called me about updating my visa number. Instead of listening to an explanation of what was wrong with their web site she argued with me that it was fine then announced that she was closing the account. I decided go with the closure because I had already skipped the last couple months due to the accumulation of milk in my freezer on account of the extra deliveries and being on a diet wanted to suspend deliveries for a while anyway. I'm not recommending against SB, the products as I said are excellent, but be warned, they have a problem that in certain circumstances will become your problem. They're not interested in fixing it and are happy to blame you for it. I would give 5 stars for the quality of the milk and assortment of breads, eggs etc. But due to the time wasted, uncontrolled deliveries and abysmal customer service, just the one star. It can't say enough good things about Smith Brothers Farms. Our family has been customers for more than 30 years, and we won't buy our milk anywhere else. The products are FRESH and the delivery is always on time. In fact, the milk truck has NEVER missed a delivery, even during weeks in which we were snowed in under more than a foot of the white stuff! That's truly amazing services for 30+ years. Loyal customer story: My six-year-old son was at his Cub Scout meeting. The leader asked if he would like a glass of milk. He paused, shuffled in his seat, and finally whispered, "Well, is it Smith Brothers Farms milk?" Everyone busted up laughing, and I was a bit embarrassed that the little guy was so picky. I called to placed an order. During the call, I asked how long I have to order before I can cancel the order just in case I don't need the milk any more. The girl who answered my call told me that I cannot cancel the order, and it sounds like the order has to be forever. It states very clearly in the web site that "There are no contracts or membership fees. You may change your standing order at any time". The answer I got from her is totally different from what is on web site. Then I asked her whether there is minimum amount I need to pay before I establish a standing order and she told me there is no minimum amount. Once I order the milk, I have to pay continuously. I tried to ask more details and she became very rude and said she did not know the time period or minimum amount. Then she raised her voice at me and finally hung up the call. The question I asked is very reasonable. There is no service which forced you to subscribe for a lifetime. I have using smith brothers for the last 2+ years, ever since my first son turned one. We getter weekly delivery of milk, eggs, butter, yogurt and whatever else we might need. The ordering online is super easy to use and I love that I can update my order Sunday night right from my phone and it gets delivered Monday morning. The fact that I don't have to go grocery shopping for a least these items weekly is a huge plus. read more

I really regret getting milk service with Smith Brother's. The product is great, but not worth the hassle we went through with their incompetent billing procedures. We did not receive a bill for 3 months despite emailing several times asking how much we owe. Until finally they left a bill stating we were extremely (3 months) overdue with lots of exclamation points and underlining. Well no kidding! We then started making payments of $25 until an extremely aggressive milk man knocks on my door and demands payment or he will cease delivery. When I tried to give him $25 he said that wasn't enough and harassed me to the point where I decided to call my husband at work to talk to the guy. When my husband explained we had not been receiving a bill and are now paying in increments since we can't afford the whole thing at once, he blamed our children saying he left a bill every month and they must have taken it and hidden it! Unbelievable! We cancelled our service immediately after dealing with that guy. He was very condescending and treated us like inmates rather than customers. Just an awful experience. read more

REALLY?!! I've used Smith Brothers for the last 11 years. They recently changed ordering to an online system. I much preferred the old system of leaving your weekly order form in the milk box. Anyway, I ended up entering my debit info. on their website to attempt to pay my monthly bill online. Their website does not allow for you to pay online. I called to pay over the phone. The next couple of weeks I noticed My debit card wad being charged weekly for my delivery. I have always for 11 years been given a bill at the end of each month. My milkman would collect payment via check. Today I called the billing dept. and asked to have my card info. taken out of their system. A rude man "Mike" told me that once I had a card in the system that it could not be removed. I told him I have been a loyal customer for over 11 years. I was never told of a change in the billing policy. His response.......wait for it....... "So should we cancel your service and pick up your box next week?" WHAT??? I was dumbfounded! I was so upset of the lack of care on his part, I said I guess so! WOW, so much for my loyal support of a local company! Geezzzz! read more

I've been a Smith Brothers customer for probably 6 years now. Up until a year ago, I had the most fantastic delivery person. He was local, dedicated, dependable, friendly, always had things on his truck if I'd forgotten something or needed something on the fly. He was awesome. And he truly loved his job. Then, something happened at the corporate level (I'm still trying to figure out what). Everything changed. And my delivery person decided he didn't want to be a part of it, so he wrote a very nice letter to all his customers saying he was leaving the company and moving on. The transition was difficult -- no more notes in the milk box, no more hand-written or hand-delivered invoices, no more chatting on the driveway (if I was out there that early!), no more customer service. After the transition, everything was to be done online -- billing, ordering, anything special had to be done ahead of time, no more extra "just in case/on the fly" products on the truck. And now there is a "minimum order fee" added to my bill. It's $1.29. So I either order more than I need or cancel my weekly order to avoid the service charge. Even though many of my neighbors are customers and we all get delivery the same day so it would seem that altogether we shouldn't have to pay delivery service individually, right? Grrrr. I will say, the milk is great. The taste is fabulous. I have two sons who drink a lot of milk and when I made the fatal mistake of running out once, I bought some from Fred Meyer in desperation and they both turned their noses up at it. There really is a difference, which is why I am still a customer. But on a personal level, I miss my old delivery person and I wonder what is going on. Just today I received a letter telling me my delivery day has been changed from Thursday to Monday. And I'm a creature of habit and don't really like that. I don't need milk on Monday. I need milk on Thursday. So, Smith Brothers, if you read here, you need to listen. Bury your "minimum order" fees. It's a tough economy and I really don't need more than 3 1/2-gallons of milk a week and I don't like being cornered into paying more for them just because that's all I need. You are burning your bridges -- there are a ton of families in my neighborhood that take delivery the same morning I do, and charging fees because I don't buy enough is insulting. Figure out your business plan another way. Milk cows need to be milked and people buy the milk. And people don't like change. And they also don't like to be penalized for not buying "enough". Your milk is a great product. But you can't charge me more for it just because I don't order "enough". I order enough for MY family so there is no waste. Focus on minimizing, please. And stop judging my family's needs with what is and isn't worth your time to deliver. read more

We've had milk delivery for just over a month, and I've had to cancel due to multiple problems. First, after 2 weeks with no trouble, our third delivery only contained 1 dozen eggs, and I had ordered two. I called customer service, and they said that I had changed my order to 1 dozen eggs. Uhhh... I hadn't called customer service AT ALL until then, so I don't know what they were thinking. So, I had to make a special trip to the store to buy more eggs. Yesterday, the Monday before Thanksgiving, I opened my milk box to find that the heavy cream I ordered was missing. Instead, I got a note stating "Sorry, short on cream.". COME ON! If you are short on cream, you can go down to the grocery store and buy me some cream. I counted on my milkman to bring me cream, and he failed. This is unacceptable, especially the week of Thanksgiving, one of the major cream-using holidays! Sheesh. So now I have to make a special trip to the grocery store just to buy cream. AND - Although I did get the 2 dozen eggs I ordered, one egg was cracked and oozed all over my milk box. I am done with Smith Brothers. I signed up for milk delivery to reduce the number of trips I had to make to the store, but I'm ending up going to the store even MORE OFTEN to compensate for their mistakes. Milk delivery is a nice idea, but the execution is a major fail. Two major screwups in just over a month of service is TOO MUCH!!!!!!! read more

So I've had Smith Brothers service for over a year now and over the last 2 months my service has gone downhill. I've ordered heavy cream that never arrived-TWICE now. Delivery that never arrived due to snow-no call, no email, nothing. Today was the last straw, I left to run errands shortly before 10AM and there was NO MILK IN THE BOX. Nor when I got back around 1230PM. Figured they were running late. No delivery as of 430PM, called and was told it was delivered at 840 this morning--No ma'am it wasn't. All apologies and assured me my card wouldn't be charged, it damn well better not be. Up until 2 months ago I would have recommended them but not now and they really don't seem to care if they lose your business. read more

Worst customer service EVER. We were passed off to one of their contractors with a fleet of delivery drivers. Book keeping practices were on Quick Books - example: billed me for eggs when I don't even eat eggs let alone buy them. Sent me my 1st invoice after it was "past due" - insulting - and it was wrong. Contractor NEVER returned my calls until I finally complained to Smith Bros - when we finally spoke, he was arrogant, obnoxious, wouldn't let me finish my sentences. I have been a smith brothers customer for over 2 years. This past month has just been terrible! I've had 3 orders wrong or missed in the last month. When I contacted Jenna at customer service, she didn't want to address it. She just wanted to cancel my order. I spoke with Jessi at customer service and she was going to help me out and make sure my order was correct. Well, this morning I go out to get my order, and my milk box is gone! No explanation! They have a major communication issue in their company that needs to be addressed. I was going to refer three of my friends to try them. I no longer will be doing that! So, I finally signed up for service when I saw a booth at the Garden Show. I have heard good things and love the convenience. Plus, I like to support business locally. When I signed up, I was told that most deliveries occur prior to 7 or 8am, which would work out great since I could put the stuff away prior to going to work and it wouldn't sit out until I return home at 7pm. On the first delivery day, it hadn't arrived by 9:30am (I happened to be home that morning). So, I called and got some not-so-friendly woman on the line. She pulled up my account and said I was a daytime delivery, which is fine. But, when I mentioned that i was told that most deliveries occur early in the morning, she abruptly said, "Again, you are a daytime delivery and you should get your order by noon." I said that I may need to re-think this since I don't want my order sitting out all day. She said the boxes are insulated and it will be fine and it can sit all day and that i am just being paranoid. Now, it is not the fact that I have a late delivery, or that I am worried about my stuff getting warm....I think Smith Brothers needs to look at their customer service rep on the phone...she came across very rude and condescending to me and didn't really seem to value my business...especially when I mentioned that this may not work. She had an 'I don't care attitude'. So, I pop on Yelp and see the same issue with the customer service on the phone from others. They really need to look at that. I kinda don't want to call again and get that woman again. I will say that I will give it time and see how my products survive in the box all day and I will enjoy the products, but if I need to do phone business and get the rude service, I will surely move on. Smith Brothers, if you read this, refer back through all the reviews and look at the common denominator with your phone service. Now that we're back in town, I actually set up delivery with them before getting electricity/water/cable/etc turned on at our new house. It all depends on which milk man you get. Ours got orders wrong and charged us for products not delivered. When I called to cancel the service, they did not even ask why. I have been using Smith Brothers delivery for three years. Never had a problem!! I only order milk, and occasionally sale items and cookies during the holidays. Ive never had a mistake or problem with customer service or my driver. In fact, when they added a minimum order charge to the bill, my driver left a note in my box saying that he changed my order to twice a week and doubled it so I would have enough milk to last the two weeks. His reason?? Because of the minimum order charge, he noticed that if I had my deliveries bi-monthly, it would save me $33.54 a year in fees. The expiration date on the milks always exceed the delivery date by at least three weeks, so no problem at all. The drivers for Smith Brothers are fantastic people who truly care about their customers! A truly stand up company!! read more

I have been getting mild delivered for more than a year form Smith Brothers. They were just awesome because I remember sometimes hearing the delivery at about 4am, but recently we were told that the delivery would be about 3 hours late. Well, if the milk was being delivered at the wee hours of the morning, no problem for my kids to have fresh milk first thing in the morning. This past Tuesday, our milk did not arrive until 10:50am!! If you are a working parent, this means the milk will be sitting out there for the entire day. I called Smith Brothers to complain and was advised to put some blue ice in the box and that the milk can sit out there for hours!! REALLLY?? First of all, I don't think that we as consumers should have to put ice in our milk box when the milk was suppose to be delivered first thing in the morning. I probably will be canceling this account, unless they can improve their delivery time. read more

It's interesting that the reviews for Smith Brothers are either raving or ranting. We've been having Smith Brothers milk delivered to our home for 9 years now. I have never had an unpleasant experience. It's been positive - always. When we first started ordering from them, the orders were via paper forms (online ordering wasn't even available!) and our delivery guy got it right each time. I have never had a customer service issue - they have always been pleasant, and I have never had a problem with online ordering. In fact, online ordering makes things much easier than the old paper form or the call-in message service they used to have. Our delivery guy is Casey and he is the nicest guy ever. We periodically get free samples of products and he is always prompt and delivers the milk pretty much at the same time each week. I think it was 2 years ago when we had a big snowstorm leading up to Thanksgiving. I had ordered the free range turkey to be delivered with my milk. Because of where we live (East Redmond up on Union Hill), Casey was unable to deliver milk during the Thanksgiving week and I was wondering what I was going to do because it meant that I also would not get the turkey. On Tuesday, 2 days before Thanksgiving, a car pulls up in our driveway with our driveway still covered in lots of snow and ice (our neighborhood up here does not get snow plowed when it snows) -- and it wasn't a Smith Brothers car/truck. It was Casey in his personal car delivering our turkey to us because he figured we needed the turkey. I will never forget what he did. So very thankful for Casey, Smith Brothers and their team. Their milk is the best - my 3 kids will not drink anything else and I am not kidding. Sometimes we run out of milk and I go to the grocery store to buy a carton of milk and they refuse to drink it. I like the shorter shelf life of their milk because their milk is not ultra-pasteurized (which prolongs the shelf life). read more

I enjoy Smith Brothers milk. We moved here in fall 2011 and within a week of moving in, a Smith Brothers truck/driver came door to door in our neighborhood, giving our samples and asking if we would like to sign up. We drink a lot of milk at my house, so I thought, why not?! GOOD CHOICE! The milk is always good, the website is easy to use if I need to change a order. I've never actually met our delivery driver, but he leaves a nice card at Christmas and when he is short on something, he always leaves a note. I have rarely had problems. I think the worst thing was a delivery when I was out of town and that may have been my fault. I was sure I had canceled the order for the coming weeks. My house sitter gave the milk to my neighbor so it wouldn't go to waste. But oh well, things happen. As I said, the milk and eggs are great, but the thing that brings me back is the chocolate milk. When we recently moved from our old home to our new one in Issaquah, the transfer went seamlessly. Their new ordering system is much more efficient and easier than ever. I LOVE this service. The funny thing I really don't even like milk. All of their products are high quality. We get amazing bacon, coffee, fresh pasta, chips, butter and local baked goods. The prices are what you would pay in the store. Also, I received something I didn't order and their customer service is amazing. One quick phone call took care of everything within 2 minutes. Signed up 2 months ago and so far they have surprised me with all the different dairy items you can choose from and also the delivery service has been awesome so far! I also like the fact you can change your order the day before delivery and also skip if you don't need service for whatever week you don't need. Great customer service on the phone when I have questions or concerns on my order. These guys are awesome. We've been using them for three years now. Our kids weren't even born when we started. Now all of our milk and cheese comes from them. Worst customer service ever! They decided to change delivery times and I received a email notice stating that they will be coming later In the day instead of the morning. Well instead of coming at 6 am, they are came out at 1:30 in the morning. I called and said that coming out at this time was totally unacceptable since we are sleeping, and the delivery truck driver is disrupting my dogs as well as the neighbors dogs. So the customer service person said that they would notify the driver to make the changes. This morning they delivered even earlier, at 12:29. So I decided to call first thing at work today. Now I see that my account has been cancelled? Customer service really needs to be held accountable. We are long time customers, and I am one of many that has brought my concerns forward, and nothing was done! Ever since they moved off the farm it hasn't been the same. I absolutely love Smith Brothers. Found out about them when I was visiting my daughter at JBLM, wish we had this in Los Angeles. I ordered it for them Summer 2015 and I still get it delivered for them. They have all sorts of goodies you can order. Sometimes I surprise them with a few extra goodies for their Thursday delivery. LOL. When I'm planning on visiting I always order the sour cream coffee cake just for me, talk about good. When the moved off base, it was a breeze getting there service relocated. The service at Smith Brothers is terrible. I ordered Organic Milk...It was almost expired and they claim it's fresh! I later found out that the Organic product isn't even made by them. The prices are too high for what you get. Service is mediocre at best and customer Service at the office is even worse. I'm not impressed by the product or the Services. read more

We love having our milk delivered to our doorstep.....it is sort of reminiscent of the olden days. Every Monday morning, my daughter runs to the porch to see if the milkman has come yet. It is convenient not to have to lug the heavy milk cartons home from the store. I like the flavor and freshness of the SB milk above what I was buying from the grocery store as well. Smith Brothers not only delivers milk, but they also deliver juice, eggs, yogurt, coffee, cookie dough and cheese. Our milk man is very reliable and super friendly. Two years ago my husband and I signed up for home delivery. It has been wonderful. The products are the best of quality and our delivery man is absolutely awesome. I have recommended this service to many neighbors and my daughter also signed up as a result. The milk may be a bit more then in the grocery stores but it is a far superior product plus since I am not running to the store for milk, eggs, etc I am actually saving money. I am not using the gas nor am I buying the multitude of other items you get when you go to the grocery store for just two things. The product is great but they charge me and all of the other 25 or so milk customers in my community an additional 5.16 per month to deliver our milk that stinks. We were told we have to order at least $10.00 per week if we did not want to pay the extra, well I can go to the grocery store instead. They first called it a fuel tax now it's the norm I have been with these people for 6 years needless to say we're done. read more

I am a frustrated customer who loves this business model, but feels like their customer service and general follow through needs work. We have had several incorrect deliveries and recently, errors on our billing statements. It wasn't until the delivery errors began to occur that I've been eying everything from them and with the number of mistakes, I wonder how many times I have been overcharged or delivered the wrong product- there were multiple occasions that I thought it was my mistake and just chalked it up to being a busy and frazzled working mom. Their customer service representative responded quickly but did not address my concerns; in fact I don't think she read my email thoroughly and it was frustrating to receive a generic response with zero accountability. I love buying local. I love supporting small business. I am not loving the hassle that has sprung up. I am giving them one more shot, but unless something changes, I will drop this service. It's just not worth my time to have to deal with a company who doesn't seem to think accuracy and customer service is important. read more
