My wife and I took our daughter to have her first dentist appointment here because they accept my insurance. I called ahead of time to confirm they take my insurance and set up her first dental checkup with a dentist who specializes with toddler. I had to reschedule the appointment first because our daughter got sick so the new date was a month later. We took her on the weekend in the morning. We were lucky to find parking because the spots near the office is limited and was already filled up. They reminded me about my appointment by text, email and phone call. They called me the day before to check that everything was covered with my insurance and the morning of to remind me about the appointment. The main issue we had here was the wait. They didn't call us in until 20 minutes after our appointment time and then the dentist didn't come see our baby until 10 minutes later. The specialist just did a light brushing on her teeth and give us pointers on what to do. So it was under like 5 minutes. I had multiple very disappointing experiences at this office. I felt the communication and explanations of my treatment were unclear, and at times inconsistent between visits. During my initial visit in November 2025, I was told I only needed a deep cleaning and they suggested the Perio Treatment costing $1600. However, at a follow-up visit in April, I was presented with a treatment plan exceeding $10,000, despite having no pain or noticeable symptoms. They convinced me to do the Perio paid $1200 in March for it and now the Gum Specialist says I should stop that and do the 8$k procedure first. Lol! Like do you guys even communicate???? This significant change in recommended treatment was not clearly explained to me in a way that made sense, which left me feeling confused and concerned about the necessity and urgency of the proposed procedures. I also felt that my questions were not fully addressed, and I did not feel confident in the consistency of the diagnosis. I also had appts at a specific time and they saw me almost 1 hour later etc! The cost of treatment also felt unexpectedly high compared to what was initially discussed. Because of these concerns, I will be seeking a second opinion and continuing care elsewhere. read more

1 Star - Used to Be a Patient Here. Won't Be Again. I came to Smiles West with a straightforward problem: a broken molar causing pain. What I got instead was two visits' worth of aggressive upselling disguised as dental care. At the initial consult, before addressing the tooth that actually brought me in, I was told I needed a deep cleaning (separate appointment), and that an adjacent molar, one causing me zero pain with no signs of infection, would need a root canal and crown. The pre-quote came in at up to $2,500, loaded with add-ons, upgrades, and cosmetic extras I never asked for. No work was done that day. I was sent home and told to come back twice the following week: once for the hygienist, once for the surgeon. Molar still broken, still hurting. The hygiene appointment was where things really went off the rails. The hygienist spent maybe four minutes actually looking at my teeth before launching into a sales pitch for Perio Protect trays, antibiotic injections, and a potential year of ongoing medication. I was told I had receding gums, might need a bone graft, and would require four under-the-gum antibiotic shots. When I asked for my pocket depth measurements, the basic clinical data you'd need to evaluate how serious any of this actually is, I was never given a number. Then I sat alone in the room for 25 minutes. No hygienist. No dentist. The next person through the door was a finance rep ready to walk me through payment plans. It felt less like a dental office and more like a car dealership. Here's the part that told me everything I needed to know: when I said I couldn't afford all the recommended treatments and just wanted a cleaning, they said OK. Just like that. All those supposedly necessary procedures suddenly weren't so urgent after all. That's not healthcare, that's straight up sales. After declining the extras, I was told the hygienist would be back to treat me. I waited another 15 minutes with no contact, no update, nothing. I grabbed my things and left, canceling my molar appointment for the next day. I was a patient here before and had a genuinely good experience, which is why this visit stung. I had a tooth removed by supposedly a oral surgeon that would imply they know what they are doing minutes after he started I was regretting it I have had plenty of teeth pulled including four wisdom teeth done at the same time never ever have. I had an experience like this not to mention no paperwork. No one after Care instructions. Nothing was handed to me. I almost passed out after I had the procedure. I had anxiety attack probably due to all of the stress that he put me through during the instruction. when I came home. I understood probably why my body had the reaction it did as to. I looked at my face and it was humongous worse than when I got four wisdom teeth that were impacted surgically removed here we are two weeks to the day I got it pulled, and I still have a bruise on my face mind you, the bruise is on the lower jaw, and the instruction was on the upper jaw. I've been coming here for over 15 years, since I was a child, even before the rebrand. Back then, I wasn't aware of how things operated, but over time I came to understand the pattern. For every appointment, expect to be called in about an hour after your scheduled appointment time. The office consistently feels disorganized. On top of that, I waited a year and a half for an authorization that kept getting submitted incorrectly. During that time, I received multiple letters from my insurance stating that the request was being denied. Every time I called to ask what was going on, I got a different answer. Eventually, I was told, "It looks like we were submitting the authorization for the wrong tooth." Even after the authorization was finally approved, nobody contacted me. I had to call the office myself to find out. After waiting all that time, I was excited because I believed my insurance would finally cover the treatment. I then waited another month for my appointment, only to arrive and be told I needed to make a $650 payment. What? At no point was I informed that I would be responsible for any out of pocket cost. Had I known beforehand, I could have prepared or at least made an informed decision. For years, I was also repeatedly encouraged by one of the staff members to fix a tiny chip in my front tooth that's barely noticeable. The proposed treatment would have cost around $800 for one tooth, but I was told I would likely need to do all four front teeth to match the color, bringing the total closer to $3,200. Then I was told that because the chip is so small, the bonding might eventually fall off and require touch ups. If that's the case, what exactly am I paying thousands of dollars for? He was very gentle and also supportive. He would check on me and ask if i'm okay like every 2 minutes and that made me feel a lot more better. I will for sure be going back to Dr. Luang. I've been to Smiles West before, about a year ago. At that time, everything seemed fine. However, after my treatment, a front desk employee with curly hair and glasses(Tatiana i believe is her name) tried to charge me around $400 for mouthwash following a deep cleaning. I declined immediately because that is completely unreasonable. On April 6th, I returned for a deep cleaning and dental check. When I walked in, I signed in, but none of the front desk staff acknowledged me. I ended up waiting about 40 minutes past my appointment time before being called. The dentist, Dr. Luoug (I may be spelling that incorrectly), was great. He was professional, made me feel comfortable, and explained everything clearly. Unfortunately, the rest of the experience went downhill from there. I was informed that the hygienist who performs deep cleanings was no longer there, and no one had called to notify me in advance. My insurance only covers one deep cleaning every two years and regular cleanings every six months. This was never explained to me beforehand. I was told to schedule another appointment for treatment. The same front desk employee, Tatiana, scheduled me for the following week. When I returned, I waited another 45 minutes. Before even going in, Tatiana told me I needed to pay $480 for an inlay, claiming it was my copay. This immediately raised a red flag because I have never had a copay for fillings with my insurance in the past six years. I called my insurance provider on the spot. They confirmed there was no copay. I handed the phone to her, and the representative explained the same and offered to send documentation. A few minutes later, I was suddenly told the cost was now $250 instead. That inconsistency made it very clear something was not right. I refused to proceed and left. This experience felt extremely unprofessional and concerning. The pricing kept changing, and it felt like I was being pushed to pay amounts that were not accurate. Patients should not have to question basic billing like this or feel pressured into paying unclear charges disguised as "co-pays". I'm disappointed to write this, but people deserve transparency and honesty, especially when it comes to healthcare. No one should have to deal with this kind of situation. The staff seems nice enough, but they don't show up for work on time, which is disrespectful. I was told that I could come in at 8:20 for a 9:00 appointment. Apparently, the staff enjoys their weekend, so 8:00 doesn't exist for them. I needed a lot of expensive work done. I paid 50% (I offered) and was told the balance would be due after the work was completed. When I showed up on time for my next appointment, I was told the balance was due before any more work would be done. It was in the computer, you see. I respectfully argued about that not being our understanding and spoke with a manager. He agreed to allow me to pay after completion of the work. I paid 50% of my balance anyway, as a gesture of good faith. Today, I was asked again for the balance. I refused. I had to wait to be called in because the staff hadn't arrived yet. There were numerous scheduling snaffus. I've been inconvenienced so many times by the people who work here, I'll be looking for a new dentist. When I went for my first appointment, I waited an hour past my appointment time while they took people who came after me to the point there was only one other person in the waiting room. After I went through the x-rays, I was put into a room where a dentist came in and told me I need to have my lower front teeth extracted. When I declined, she came back with I need to have one tooth removed and would need bone grafting and it would cost $900. When I declined again, they came back with you need a deep cleaning that will cost a $100/quadrant. Why do I need a deep cleaning for teeth they want to yank out of my head. During this whole ordeal, there was no talk of taking and impression for a denture after they yanked all these teeth out of my head. It was like they just wanted to yank my teeth out of my head and send me on my way on a Saturday afternoon. After rejecting their attempts to get as much money out of my wallet that they could, I once again refused their treatment plan and asked to just have my teeth cleaned which is why I was there in the first place. They refused so I left. My lower teeth are not in good condition but are no where close to needing to be extracted. My last dentist, who I saw just last year, never said I needed to have my teeth extracted. I don't see my last dentist anymore because he stopped taking my insurance. Now I have to find a dentist that doesn't see $$$ when I open my mouth. It was like going to the doctor for your annual physical, and the doctor telling you, you need to have one of your kidneys removed because it may fail one day. read more

I'm very sad about this experience. I really liked the dentist, Dr. Luong, he seemed ethical. The dental assistant, Geo, is very knowledgeable, helpful and seemed honest as well. I need to have a tooth pulled and a dental implant placed. Sadly, I am not going back to have the work done here. The woman who wrote up the proposal for this work came up with an exorbitant amount of $8200, out of pocket charges, over what my insurance covers. I didn't have time to look at it until I got home. I began Googling some of these charges and also contacting friends who have had these procedures done as well. She was going to charge me $1,500 FOR GENERAL ANESTHESIA which is almost never used for these procedures unless somebody is disabled. She also came up with a charge of $1,100 FOR A 5 YEAR WARRANTY! Google says a warranty like this is not held up by law. In other words you can't use it if you need to. Any ethical dentist will cover their own work for free, if needed, within 1or 2 years of the procedure. I worked the cost down to $5600 out of pocket not including what my insurance covers, so far, but found out that they were overcharging me for the actual procedures as well. It's like buying a used car from a dealership. Honestly, if I'm going to pay that much, out of pocket, I'm going to pick a dentist that's honest and ethical and highly recommended. This place will give you an appointment at a certain time and they won't see till 1 hour later. My son had an appt at 1:00 pm and they didn't see us till almost 2 hours later. I understand they have other patients but to have an appointment and be seen 1 - 2 hours later is not professional at all!!! OVERALL EXPERIENCE =1, DR EZZATI=5 I have been to this Dental office 3 times in the last 25 days and the only reason to go here is because Dr. Andia Ezzati is probably the best dentist I have ever encountered in my 69 years of life. Unfortunately, based on my experience, you have to be willing to pay a price in time and aggravation to get to Dr. Ezzati because the front desk staff, office manager and most of the other staff I encountered are disorganized and confused. Prior to my first visit I called to double check that they would accept my insurance with no problems. Answer was yes. 1st Visit - Everything seemed ok at first. X-ray Tech took x-rays, no problem. Moved to an exam room and Dr. Donald Luong comes in. Unfortunately I have a letter from my insurance saying my insurance won't pay for him (my mistake for assuming the people handling insurance would already know that). Front desk staff have NO clue what to do next. Finally, Lupe says will refer to their office manager who will call me. 2 weeks go by, no callback. I call Lupe who seems clueless regarding prior discussion, but eventually finds the copy of the letter, will confer with office manager and call back that same day. I do get a call back, told it's figured out and appointment is scheduled for exam and cleaning. 2nd Visit - One week later - Shortly after my arrival, the guy who did my x-rays on the prior visit calls my name, takes me to an exam room and says: "So you are here for a second opinion on something?" And I reply: "Why would I come to the same dentist office where I got the 1st opinion, for a 2nd opinion?" I tell him I am there for exam and cleaning. Now there is confusion among everyone because they all assumed I had an exam and cleaning on my first visit, which I did not. After some time, they decide to put me in a room for exam and cleaning. Dr Andia Ezzati comes in does the exam, informs me I have multiple cavities on both sides of my mouth. She says she can start fixing those today once a Treatment Plan and insurance coverage is confirmed. That completed, things are looking up. My overall experience thus far, has me agitated and Dr. Ezzati helps me relax and ensures me, she will take good care of me and I won't feel any pain. She delivered on her promise! Multiple cavities repaired on the left side quickly and painlessly. Subsequent appointment for right side of mouth is scheduled for 4 days later. 3rd Visit - This appointment is to fill multiple cavities on the right side of my mouth. I'm on-time and sign the log-in sheet. I sit down in the waiting room, front row, not more than 8 ft from the front desk staff, in clear view. Wait quietly, patiently for 30 minutes past appointment time. Then I ask the front desk staff if I am there on the wrong date or the wrong time. She checks, confirms date and time are correct. I ask her: "Then why am I still waiting 30 minutes after my appointment time?". She leaves the desk and returns moments later, tells me I should be called in shortly. About 5 minutes later the guy who took my x-rays on the 1st visit calls me in, takes me to a room clearly NOT prepared for filling cavities. He says: "So, you are here to have something checked?" I tell him: "No, I am here for continued dental work on the right side of my mouth." He walks across the hall and it is immediately clear no one he is interacting with has a clue what's going on. After about 5 minutes he comes back, moves me to a different room that IS prepared for dental work. However, another staff member almost immediately comes into that room and tells me I can't be there because that room is prepped for a different patient. I get moved back to the first room, but before I go into that room I go to the front desk and ask: "Who is in charge here?" A woman at the desk tells me she is in charge. So I ask her what time was my appointment today. She correctly tells me 11am. And I then ask what am I here for? And she correctly tells me what dental work I am scheduled for. I ask her: "Why am I standing here 40 minutes after my appointment time and why doesn't anyone else seem to know why I am here?" She leaves the desk, I return to the un-prepped room and after a few minutes I am moved again, back to the prepped room that I was previously kicked out of, and told "we moved the patient that was going to be here to a different room and this is now your room." About 10 minutes later, a full 55 minutes past my scheduled appointment time, Dr. Ezzati comes in. I ask her if she knows why I am here today. She calmly tells me yes she does, recaps what she did at my last appointment and correctly describes what she is going to do today. Dr. Ezzati is calm, compassionate and helps me relax as the ordeal so far had me quite keyed up. Once again, Dr. Ezzati delivers on her promise of a quick and painless experience!
