I still specifically wanted her to have the consultation, and I made that clear when I arrived. At check-in, the staff member again told me that her insurance would not cover braces. I explained that I was already aware of that and still wanted to proceed with the consultation. Her response and demeanor came across as annoyed, which immediately made me uncomfortable. My daughter was then seen by the orthodontist, who performed a very brief examination, looked at the computer for a few minutes, and told me that everything looked fine and that he had no concerns. I was then told they would schedule her to come back in a year. My biggest issue is that I was given virtually no explanation. Their own office advertises orthodontic consultations for children around ages 7-8, which is exactly why I brought my 8-year-old in. I expected an actual consultation explaining her dental development, whether there were any orthodontic concerns, why treatment was or was not recommended at this time, and why they felt waiting another year was appropriate. Instead, I left feeling like the appointment was rushed and that my concerns were not taken seriously. I cannot say for certain what motivated the interaction, but the emphasis on insurance before the consultation and the lack of explanation afterward left me feeling as though we were not genuinely welcomed or given the consultation I came in expecting. I understand that a child may not need braces immediately, and I have no issue with being told to monitor her for another year. What I do have an issue with is paying for and attending a consultation only to receive almost no information or explanation. Parents deserve to leave an orthodontic consultation understanding what was evaluated, what was found, and why a particular treatment timeline is being recommended.

Now I have the perfect fit I love the entire office. It has the feeling of a Mom and Pop shop. They really make you feel like family. I really look forward to going to the dentist every six months. I know that sounds crazy but it's true, I have never missed a dentist appointment with them. Plus they always call a couple of days before your appointment to confirm. The office is small but warm and cozy, with great artwork and jazz music playing. The restroom is always spotless. You can tell from the moment you walk in they really care about their patients. If I couldn't go to Dr. Desbordes and his staff, my teeth would probably fall out of my mouth. I really would have a very hard time trying to find another dentist office that I would feel this comfortable with and that does such a excellent job with my teeth. I will speak my truth over and over again. After all was said and done I had a horrible dental abscess that caused the most excruciating pain that I have ever experienced in my life, and I blame this dental practice. Dr. Murphy spoke with me over the phone while I was in debilitating pain and had the nerve to suggest that he would "fit me in tomorrow for a trigger point injection". I blame this practice for being a poor representation of the dental community and whole-heartedly blame them for making me unnecessarily suffer because they have lost their way in patient care.
