On Thursday 12/27/2012 I had to get 2 impacted wisdom teeth removed and was extremely nervous, seeing as how through the grace of GOD I have never had any type of surgery performed on my body. Some may call it a small job but to me it was huge. I had my work done by a maxillofacial, oral surgeon by the name of Bernard Ian Krupp,DDS at the Krupp Center. I must say walking in I was fine and they made me feel very secure and trusting in them. However, once I sat in the chair the gitters started to kick in; the nurse knew it when I asked to use the bathroom. She said "hurry back and don't run out on us". ahhahahaahhahaha! It was so ironic because that is exactly what I was thinking almost like she was reading my mind. Just as well I know I wasnt the only one who has been like this. After the restroom i sat back down nervouslly. Once she place the mask on my face for sedation, I started to become more relaxed of coarse. Almost like I had a couple shots of vodka, lol. Oddly enough I never felt like I went to sleep, when I woke up I said to the surgeon "when am I suppose to fall asleep"? He started laughin and says, "were done Mr. Stephens". Well once it was over I felt so relieved that it was done and the process was successful. I have been following all the rules that the surgeon have set for me and the healing is coming along very well. Oddly, I have not had any swelling, which may be due to the amount of ice I have had on my face. Secondly, I have codeine, amoxicillin and ibuprofen that I have been taken. Ironically, with all these medications I'm taking I still feel normal; even after the surgery I was walking and talking regular. I just would like to say the Krupp Center is highly recommended not just by me but from other reviews. The dentist I visited prior to the Krupp Center informed me that they would have to break my jaw bone to remove the teeth because of how impacted it was (they were literally facing horizontal). The Krupp Center didnt take more than 30mins for the surgery and they didnt have to break my jaw bone. So if you or anyone you know needs to have their wisdom teeth removed inform them to take a look at the Krupp Center. read more

The nurses were all so incredibly sweet, kind, and helpful, I would give them 5 stars across the board. However if I could choose 0 stars for dr Krupp I would. I was so extremely clear that I had horrible anxiety and needed him to be slow and gentle with the shots before my wisdom teeth removal. I said this to nurse and him, and right before he did the shot the nurse reminded him one more time. He then proceeded to SHOVE a block in my mouth, with no warning, he didn't tell me what he was putting in my mouth or ask me to open to my mouth he just shoved it in there and grabbed the shot. He started to shake my gums so hard while giving me the shot and it was fine for the 1st spot but then he did the roof of my mouth and I started to panic immediately tears started rolling down my face and I could not catch my breath.. he just kept going. I was having a full panic attack and he just said " breath in the gas it's just like smoking pot" and I was unable to get IV sedation because I occasionally smoke, but that is so wildly inappropriate to say while your preforming a medical procedure. The nurse was so helpful and kind but Dr Krupp was actually the worst medical experience I have ever had. read more

I went here a few years back to get a molar removed. I have extreme anxiety plus I'm on loads of meds including pain meds which he knew about. I scheduled and paid for nitrous anesthesia. I was totally fine going in and thru the beginning process. They gave me the nitrous and it didn't work. I kept telling them it wasn't working. They turned it up as high as they could. Still nothing. The assistant said I could leave and come back another day to get IV sedation (I had to pay more for). When Dr Krupp came in he was yelling at me for not wanting to go thru with it. I was crying my eyes out at this point. It was my first ever tooth removal and I paid to be knocked out so I wouldn't freak out during. And the nitrous didn't do it's job so I began to have a panic attack when he was yelling at me basically calling me a big baby. He was so mean. If I would've been smart I would've just got my money back and went somewhere else but I didn't know better and paid for IV. That process was MUCH better. But still, this guy has legit zero people skills. It's terrible. read more

I had a cyst in my jaw which was scaring the heck out of me and found incidentally on a routine cleaning by my DDS. Dr Krupp's office got me in quickly, reassured me and then I had the cyst removed. If I could give negative stars I would. I went to Dr. krupp about 3 months ago to have all four wisdom teeth removed. Office staff was friendly and clean, I will give them that. The day of the removal you can feel that everything is rushed. You are not a person, you are a number there. A few days later I call and request that I been seen just to make sure everything was healing properly (which is not something they normally do). As a person with HIGH anxiety, I am obviously in pain and slightly anxious. Dr. Krupp walks in and says "don't freak out" and to which I respond "if I had a dollar for every time someone told me- a person with an anxiety disorder , not to freak out. I'd be rich!" And he responds "okay then freak out" Snarky , little smart a** comments like that is really what started my journey on not liking him at all. So he takes a popsicle stick and looks in my mouth for five seconds (TOPS) . He tells me everything is fine. So a week goes by and everything is NOT fine still. I go to get a second opinion. I'm told I have a dry socket. So that gets patched up. Fast forward ANOTHER week. Something STILL is not right. I have a 3D X-ray of my mouth done. Come to find out, Dr. Krupp did not clean out one of my sockets properly and there were bone fragments floating between my sockets and sinus. So I had a hole now connecting the hole of my tooth to my sinuses. It was AWFUL. I emailed Dr. Krupp and of course received a generic response. Please do NOT go see this man for your dental needs. He does not care. He cares about money. Not people. read more

I went to Krupp Center today for a consultation for one wisdom tooth removal, i waited for less than 10 minutes in the waiting room and the surgeon offered to pull it. i was so happy because the tooth had been bothering me so much! I want to start by saying that I am not the type of person to leave a review. Matter of fact, this is the first time ever but I was so pleased that I felt compelled to do so. I could not have been happier with my daughters appointment today! The office/waiting area/patient rooms were very nice. The front office staff were extremely nice and went out of their way to assist us. No wait at all before we were called back. The Assistant was super sweet and calming which my daughter really appreciated. Dr. Krupp was knowledgable and a pleasure to deal with. Horrible NO BEDSIDE MANNER!!!!! I took my child to the Krupp center who is special needs there and when he walked into the room he was so rude and unprofessional. He looked at my child and said "oh" as if he didn't read in the 10 page form I had to complete in her history. The first thing he said after that was "it's not a good X-ray" The very nice assistant explained that she moved some and we did the best we can. Then he was like "lay back and open your mouth" and turned his light on. So I said to my daughter open your mouth but said to him, it's the light shining. He says well can't do anything for that. Then he says how would I even do the procedure. "You need to go to University" .... Umm the first minute in the room I did not want you to touch my child. His old privileged self. As a Nurse practitioner for 20 years, bedside manner and knowing you patient is number one. At least know the patients history before you walk into the room. I would not let him touch me or my child.... There are at least 5 words I could say about him but I will save those "expletives" for my friends!!!!! He actually should get NO stars!! read more

My dentist told me that I needed to get all four wisdom teeth removed and referred me to several oral surgeons, but I actually found out about the Krupp Center through a friend that had recently had the same surgery. The weeks leading up to my surgery, all my wonderful friends and coworkers told me their horror stories about getting their own wisdom teeth removed. Some had woken up in the middle of their surgery when the anesthesia wore off and others had infections after the surgery was over. Of course everyone told me about how puffy my face would be for DAYS and maybe even WEEKS after the surgery. The day before my appointment, I received a call from their office to confirm and I was tempted to cancel. But I did not. The woman on the phone reminded me that I needed someone to drive me because I would not be able to drive home after the surgery. After I confirmed, I counted down the hours to my appointment and dreaded every minute of it. The next morning, my mother and I walked into the Krupp Center and after filling out a few forms to sign my life away, I was called into the back. I said goodbye to my mother and off I went. I know dentist offices are supposed to be clean, but this one is extremely clean and all the utensils and tools sparkled. The surgical assistant, Tamara, was very sweet. She soothingly explained to me what would be done while hooking me up to all the machines and anesthetics. I knew I was in good hands. Shortly after, Dr. Krupp arrived and introduced himself. The next thing I remember is Tamara waking me up and handing me off to my mother and I was out the door. I don't remember much of the ride home, but I know my mom stopped by the pharmacy to pick up the antibiotics that doctor prescribed me. I followed the instructions for the medicine and also from the doctor: no solid foods for at least the first two days, place an ice pack on my cheeks to reduce swelling and take aspirin when needed to lessen the pain. I had the kind of stitches that dissolved on their own after a few days so I wouldn't have to go back for a follow up appointment. My face was pretty swollen, but with all the ice packs and sleep, I was back to normal that night! TAKE THAT FRIENDS! Two months later: my gums have completely healed and there were no infections. I highly recommend the Krupp Center for anyone that needs any kind of oral surgery. They are great at what they do and really take care of you. read more

If you come here it's likely to have unpleasant dental work done. I had to have a tooth extracted after a bad root canal followed by four failed root canal retreatments. Since I had four procedures done within two weeks of having it pulled, I was a mess. They instantly put me at ease by providing a stress ball and playing positive music. I was very nervous the night before my wisdom teeth extraction (May 7th). Even more nervous the morning of, I was tempted to call and cancel but I figured it was something I needed to get done. The waiting room was very nicely put together it actually had brochures concerning wisdom teeth extraction as well as dental implants I figure to give you a little knowledge about the procedure(s). The receptionists were very polite and attentive. I wasn't even in the waiting room 10 mins and I was called in the back. (The assistant I did forget her name but she spoke with a Russian accent) was very polite and kind. So I went to get my X-Rays done and it showed all 4 of my wisdom teeth were impacted. After that I was brought in the operating room (?), and my vitals were taken. Blood Pressure 134/77 (Hooray!!). Dr. Krupp came in and asked how did I hear about the Krupp center and I said WBAL-TV they were interviewing you, and he asked did he do a good job to which I said "It got me here" lol. Then he asked how I was feeling I responded ok and he left momentarily. I was buckled down and the nitrous oxide was started by the 1st assistant, at first I didn't feel it then I started feeling weightless and the 2nd assistant came in and asked how I was doing I gave her a thumbs up. Then I remember Dr. Krupp coming in and saying turn the music up to help me relax and then saying I would feel a slight pinch and next thing I know I wake up and I'm told the procedure is done. I didn't believe it because it happened so quickly (and I was sedated) so I asked to see them LOL. My overall experience at Dr. Krupp was amazing, the staff was very attentive and made sure I felt comfortable and reminded me to relax and go with the flow. I went to work the following day (today) and was a customer asked how was I feeling I said I was great and gave her a rundown b/c she told me that she had to have some teeth removed. I wrote all of Dr. Krupp's information down and she said she'd be contacting him soon. AMAZING JOB!!! read more

Protect yourself and DO NOT go to this surgeon. Avoid his practice at all costs. I went in to receive wisdom teeth surgery from Dr. Krupp and WOKE UP during my surgery screaming. They did not give me enough anesthesia. I was in emotional shock from the experience for days after. In addition, the staff did not tell me I had to clean my mouth sockets, nor did they offer me a syringe. Therefore, I got 2 infections in different sockets which was very painful. When I went in about one of the infections, Dr. Krupp informed me that the hole in my socket was small. While he was examining me, he slit open my socket without warning or pain meds. I screamed and cried in pain, no one seemed to be bothered. In addition, 6-10 months following my surgery I had shards of teeth slowly making their way out of my gums. Which tells me Dr. Krupp did a sloppy job in surgery. Avoid this doctor. read more

Had my wisdom tooth extracted June 11th. No pain at all. Didn't even feel the needle when getting numbed up. Tooth was taken out less than 60 seconds. Super fast. Recovery was great. Only took pain medication the first day. Was eating normal after day 2. Office is super clean and sterile. Staff is amazing, especially the dental assistant. She was super sweet. Only had a consultation with the Dr. who stood and told me in 5 minutes what my procedure would consist of and then sent me to see his payment officer Diana, who informed me that the out-of-pocket cost for my procedure would be around $7000. I did an online request asking to speak to the Dr. himself and his assistant Diana calls me. I explain to her that I would like to speak with the Dr. to discuss my procedure in depth hoping that he would make me feel comfortable with the procedure (which should have not been an issue) but she refused and wanted to answer my questions. She was very rude, uncaring, and somewhat hostile. You would think that I could have gotten my issues resolved if I was willing to pay $7000.00. If she is a reflection of his office and business......oh yeah did I fail to mention I am African American. I wonder if someone else would have gotten better service if they were not me? I told her that because she was not making me feel comfortable about having the procedure done because of the incorrect answers that she was giving me about dentures, she simply told me that it would be best if I went somewhere else. WOW! such disrespect. I am glad that I did not lock myself in with this office. I will gladly find another oral surgery office that genuinely cares about the patient and not just the money. the nurse was very nice & did a good job keeping me calm . dr.Krupp has no sympathy for people who's getting there teeth pulled and scared to very quick to dismiss the whole appt if your crying or keep making nose as they take it out . they say your going to feel a little pressure and that's a lie that's more than just a LITTLE pressure it hurts & instead of him trying to make u feel comfortable he just say we're going to reschedule .. he did not even say ima give u 5 minutes just breath . his nurse was better than him. also if U smoke do not smoke 24 hours before if u want the iv sedative . They don't tell u. also the extraction was pretty quick so that's was good . Only thing dr.Krupp is impatient & has no sympathy to the people who's alittle nerves ! I needed to return to the office after my dentist found a lingering root tip from my extraction. Krupp Center contacted me in 5 minutes and had me in first thing the next morning to get it removed. Great Oral Surgeon! I am VERY picky about my doctors (ok, I'm picky about everything), and after calling around to several places, reading reviews on vitals.com and healthgrades.com, and even consulting with an alternative highly ranked oral surgeon ( with a filthy outdated office), I decided on Dr. Krupp. I'm glad I did! I had 4 impacted wisdom teeth removed with minimal pain last April. On my initial call, the lady I spoke with was very helpful - definitely the most knowledgeable person I spoke with on the phone when comparing oral surgeons. Pros - Clean upscale comfortable office - Friendly and knowledgeable staff. I was very nervous but the staff was very comforting - Laughing gas and Iv sedation puts you at ease and knocks you out - I had no pain and only had to take 2 pain killers the entire recovery process (my cheeks did swell a lot which was uncomfortable but not painful). I took the first 2 doses as scheduled but my mouth never started hurting so I just stopped after that. - After eating a chip too soon after the procedure, my mouth started bleeding and I was able to reach Dr. Krupp on his cell phone in the evening for instructions on how to stop the bleeding. Cons - They wouldn't give me pain or antibiotic prescriptions before the surgery. I understand painkillers are abused, but because of this I had to go to the pharmacy after surgery which was stressful and inconvenient. - Dr. Krupp comes off as a bit cocky ( I asked about something my dentist told me and he said something to the effect of "Well, he's a dentist and I'm an oral surgeon. Dentists don't know as much as oral surgeons." He also said there was a small chance of nerve damage "But, that's not going to happen to you!" hmmm... so certain in your abilities?) - I was charged a bit more than the original quote, not quite sure why but it was only $80 so I didn't bother contesting it. Overall my wisdom teeth extraction and recovery went smoothly and I definitely recommend Dr. Krupp! read more

PLEASE READ! I know most people tend to exaggerate after having a bad experience, but I assure you I am NOT. My initial consultation with Dr Krupp was great. I was having a wisdom tooth pulled without being put to sleep. I went there right from work, dressed in my business attire. The following week, I had my tooth removed. Everything seemed fine... A week later I noticed that I had what I thought was a piece of tooth left in my gums that kept scraping my tongue. I expressed my concern and without even looking at it, he said "well I can't just break it off, it's a piece of your jaw. Your gum needs to heal around it." I insisted that he at least look at it and asked if maybe he could just file it down a little so that it's less sharp. After a lot of huffing and trying to tell me that I was being ridiculous in not so many words, he tells me to open my mouth. I did. He then says, hold on. And I asked what he was going to do. He told me to put my head back. So I asked again, and rather insisted that he tell me what he was going to do. He then proceeded to tell me in a very stern tone, "if you don't put your head back in 5 seconds, you can leave." I was appalled and scared, so I asked him what he was going to do. He wouldn't answer the question so I asked, you're not going to break it right??? He said no... so I put my head back, opened my mouth... and I saw him pick up a large tool that looked like a nut cracker or one of those nail clippers that have handles like scissors, he put it in my mouth, and CRACK!!! He cracked it off!!! I was in total shock, my mouth filled with blood. I was freaking, in shock, and so mad that he would lie to me like that after telling me SO many times that it wasn't able to be broken off. I started to cry... the assistant was trying to calm me down and being really nice, until dr Krupp came back.. and then she started being rude to me as well and told me that I was being unreasonable and that I needed to leave. They told me that I had to leave out of the back door!!! I wouldn't go back to this guy if you paid me a million dollars!! His bedside manner is terrible and he shouldn't be able to get away with treating his patients like that! After telling my dentist what happened, he won't be referring any other patients there either! Do yourself a favor and do not see this guy. When I went in the first time with my makeup and hair done, well dressed... he kissed my feet. When I went back in sweats and a t shirt and looking like garbage because I felt that way after his hack job on my tooth... he treated me like scum. I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed after being referred to this place by my dentist. Dr. Krupp was my dentist and was SUPER nice. I was knocked out for the whole thing and had no probs at all. They gave me my prescriptions early so I could get them filled before the procedure and wouldn't have to stop on the way home. the place is really upscale and i would def go back if i had to. read more

I only met the doctor for 20 seconds before I went under and got my wisdom teeth removed. They also informed me at the time that they do not prescribe pain management which is something I would have liked to have known before coming because I was in extreme pain after the surgery. After still being in pain 10 days after, I called asking if they could refill the 800mg ibuprofen given and they would not refill it until I came in after the weekend... not a very helpful place and I felt like just a number. read more

So I've read some negative reviews on here and another site but I don't really share any of those experiences. I went in there to get 4 wisdom teeth pulled and they did an amazing job. I don't know if it was people getting other services done that had the problem but I read reviews saying Dr. Krupp was narcissistic and so on with negative results. They might have experienced something I didn't but all worked out well on my end. And it was awesome getting teeth pulled out by someone who reminded me of Michael Douglas as Liberace! Diane from Krupp Center is very rude and may have an issue with people of color. Let me explain. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Krupp for removal of teeth and replacement with Dentures. After a 5 to 10 minute consultation after he reviewed the x-rays letting me know the type of procedures that needed to be done, he left me in the hands of Diane (the price/cost lady and apparently a specialist on the procedure that I needed. She told me that the out-of-pocket cost would run me about $8,000.00. I told her I needed to consult with another provider before I made my final decision. They were not friendly at this place; they definitely did not make me feel like they cared anything about my mouth or my concerns because when I reached back out to Diane to see if the Dr. himself would contact me for some assurances before paying for this procedure. Diane absolutely refused and kept insisting she could answer all of my questions. I tried to explain to her that because I felt that the consultation went quickly leaving me feeling iffy about the Center, I wanted some reassurances and would like to talk to the Dr. again, she blatantly told me that because I was not happy that I should go elsewhere. Well with that being said, I decided to go elsewhere.... and I am so relieved that I did. I would not recommend this place to anyone that cannot comply with what they want because it's obvious they don't care about you. I was ready to get this done and was booted. Great OMFS center! Customer service was great. We came for my sons impacted wisdom teeth. We got there early and they accommodated us right away. Dr Krupp is a no fuss no nonsense kind of guy and he was very efficient. We were done in no time. Overall a great experience. My son was well taken cared of post op too. I had difficult wisdom teeth and I trust Dr. Krupp's work. On the downside, he works in the cosmetic field so his attitude is a little too insincerely flattering for my taste. My biggest issue is his front desk staff. Their fake smiles last all of 10 seconds. If you take up their time longer than that, their demeanor quickly becomes dismissive and impatient. Maybe I'm talking about just one girl but I had two interactions with her where I asked just one extra question and both times I felt like she was very annoyed with me. Sorry but I am paying hundreds of dollars per treatment. The least you can do is answer one extra question. Was referred to Dr Krupp from my dentist. Went to have 3 teeth pulled. Apparently I wasn't numbed enough, when he stuck the needle in the roof of my mouth I screamed. He put his hand over my mouth til I stopped and told me stop or I'll scare the "natives". I sobbed for a long time till I realized I was stuck in his chair and had to finish. I would not recommend this man to anyone. My daughter was supposed to go to him for wisdom teeth but we are going somewhere else now. The tech I had was wonderful, too bad she works for him. I was very, very nervous about having all four wisdom teeth removed. As semi-professional singer and music teacher, even the smallest potential for nerve damage in the mouth is really scary to me. However, EVERYONE at the Krupp Center was massively helpful and reassuring. I wish I could remember all their names to give them a shout out... The two women at the front desk were super sweet and flexible when I forgot my referral paperwork. The woman who ran my billing was also a very warm person and did a great job of explaining the costs to me, so there was absolutely no mystery. The assistant (maybe Christina?), who I spent the most time with, was hilarious and made me feel so comfortable. She answered no less than 1 million questions from my dad and I, and she had a great energy. Dr. Krupp was very professional, confident, and trustworthy, and between him and his awesome team, by the time I was sedated, I had no worries at all. Post-op, it's not nearly as painful as I expected. I was impressed with how thorough the take-home information was. Also, Dr. Krupp provides his personal cell phone for after-hours questions, which I think is a really generous thing for any professional to do.
