I've been going to Dr. Tran for a few months now, after not visiting a dentist for quite some time. I had (and still have) a LOT of work to be done. I was worried about judgment or anger from the office, but they have been nothing but lovely to me! They helped me work up a plan on everything that needs to be done and plan out how we would approach it all. I'm only partway through everything, but I felt the need to write a review. Dr. Tran is the best dentist I've been to! He was able to perform an extraction in office without needing to send me out to an oral surgeon. The filings were quick and easy, and he did a great job on my root canal! I've been to several dentists before that have struggled with addressing issues with my teeth. It is partly why it has been so long since my last visit. But, Dr. Tran has been professional, helpful, laid out a clear plan, and has made it seem easy fixing my teeth each step of the way! The office has been very helpful running my insurance, updating me on where things stand, and giving me estimates for what everything will cost so that I am not surprised by the costs. And, costs have been about 15-20% cheaper than what I was expecting based on my experiences with other dentists. I don't know if that is just the office or a function of my dental insurance though. ***READ THIS BEFORE COMING HERE!!** Save your money and goes out where!! I didn't read the Yelp review before booking an appointment for my dad teeth estimate and was a victim!!! My dad need to get an estimate cost for his teeth and they charged him $275 out of pocket for just an x-ray and a counselor session. My dad ask for a copy of the x-ray and they gave us the worst quality of the x-ray!! They just printed out a picture in black and white on a regular printing paper. My dad doesn't know much about dental cost so they charged him whatever the price. I'm disappointed in myself for not going with my dad and let these people take advantage of my dad's hard working money. He spent less than 30 minutes getting his x-ray and price estimate to get charged almost $300, that's more than an average person wage for 8hrs+ a day. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all cost!!!! It's so sad to see dental office like this charged people without insurance an absurd price. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. My wife has been a patient of this dentist for five years now, and I recently started going to them this year. I have put in a lot of dental work (cavities, root canal, etc) with this office this year, and everytime except the first time, I have had to wait about 45 mins passed my "appointment" to be seen, but I've never complained. I waited patiently and did not even ask how much longer I had to wait. I figured things come up, so I was patient and understanding. After today, neither my wife nor I will be returning there. My wife was late to an appointment, and they would not accept her and said they would be charging her the subsequent canceled appointment fee of $50. My wife's appointment was for a teeth cleaning, so she said she was willing to take a quick cleaning since she still hate about 30-40 minutes of her hour time slot. They said that they wouldn't do that, and when my wife asked to talk to the dental hygienist, she was told that the hygienist was busy with another patient. This really upset my wife, since they clearly wasn't losing business from my wife's late appointment, and this was just a way to make some extra money from us. She also talked to the office manager and was given the same answer. It looks like this practice looks at their patients through the lens of the bottom line. They expect their patients to be understanding when it comes to delays, but if you're a little late, they pounce on the chance to make the quick buck. read more

I was referred by a friend a few years ago and besides the distance I travel from DC, I love coming here. Parking is usually easy. Scheduling appointments isn't a problem. Front staff is pretty friendly. The assistants and hygienists(don't know all of their titles) are awesome! Dr. Tran is a cool doc, friendly with his patients, gets you in and out and yes, I've had a root canal, fillings, extractions .. all painless. I refer anyone whenever they ask. TIP: Be proactive about asking for estimates. It's always tricky when you have a procedure that needs to be done and it's not a basic, preventative procedure as it may cost you a lot out of pocket. Ask for the estimate when you make an appointment. This always makes my temperature rise when dealing with my teeth =( Also whenever Ive seriously asked about teeth bleaching, I'm referred to the Crest White system. read more

This is a unique dental office with a full staff that has been there over 15 years or more. My debtal cleaning was very thorough and Dr. Tran is super gentle with my fillings. I love this place! I've been here for at least 4-5 years and have always had good experiences. The staff is really friendly and accommodating. While I was away at college they always managed to work me into their schedule when I came home for breaks and needed a last minute appointment. I've had two cavities (knock on wood) and they made it PAINLESS. I really couldn't feel anything. I'm also a sucker for pain and had one lady cleaning my teeth and I was afraid to tell her that it was a little too hard. I ended up telling her after she was done and she made a note of it and next time she was SUPER gentle. I really liked that I was able to say something and have them remember and do it 6 months down the road without having to remind them. My parents have been going here for forever and they have nothing bad to say about this place either. They've had plenty of procedures done here and- again- no complaints. At all. They send reminders in the mail to remind you to schedule an appointment every six months which is really helpful. Five stars. Easily five. read more

Things seem very fishy at this place. I had a crown done, where the color is off, did not let you check beforehand, but made no effort to fix it. Just cosmetic, not too important. However, they charge a root canal on top of that, on a tooth that was already done a long time ago. While he was doing the "root canal," it was in like less than 10min without a flinch of pain. One time, all done. Maybe I'm wrong about how advance dentistry today, but this is not the way I remembered root canal being done. They charge a lot too, everything afterward, with the unnecessary x-rays. How about tell us the damn price before you start doing the work...beware of this place, be sharp, don't bring your unsuspecting Vietnamese parents here. So many things wrong here, I'm dumb to have gone here twice, not going back again. I will tell my dad to stop going here too. read more

I was using this practice for several years, should not have stayed that long. Tran is questionable, Grimmer is a nice enough fellow. I had a bunch of work done in this office, mostly by Grimmer. A root canal was performed and funny thing is they made me sign a waiver stating that they would not be responsible for a failed root canal. Well sure enough after signing that waiver I was given a root canal that was not complete, a root was missed during the procedure. I have had many a root canal by several different dentists and all have been successful, except for this one. Not one dentist has ever made me sign a waiver before the operation. Interesting. This mishap put me back at least another grand having to have this root canal done properly by a specialized root canal dentist. Another problem I had with this outfit is that it seemed like every time I had an appointment they kept me waiting at least 15 minutes after my arrival which is always very prompt, one occasion I waited 45 minutes which is completely unacceptable. The only reason Im not giving this dentist 1 star is because some work was done properly. read more

Last year I had the appointment with the office, but when I came, they said that I don't have the appointment for that day. I asked them if I could see Tina who is Dr. Tran's wife or Dr. Tran, but Tina was not there. I had to wait for about 30 minutes, they accepted me as walk-in even I had the appointment. While hygienist was cleaning my teeth, Tina jumped in the office with the angry and bad attitude. She was yelling at me as I did not have the appointment, and next time, if I don't have an appointment, they will not accept to do it. I explained to her that I had the appointment 6 months ago, and your staff kept calling me to change my appointment. She asked if I have an appointment card. How can I keep the appointment card 6 months ago while office kept calling to change my schedule?. She did not trust me and stormed out the office. The way Tina talked to me was so crude, impolite, not professional at all. After that I called the office and requested to close my profile and I won't ever come back to this bad office any more. Staff confirmed that my profile had been canceled. After a month later there was a staff calling me and reschedule my appointment. I told her that "I called and requested to close my profile because last time Tina had a very bad attitude toward to me. Why do you call me to reschedule my appointment?" Now at this time they actual closed my profile. One thing I need to tell that this office keeps rescheduling their patients appointments. I DO NOT recommend any one come to this office! read more

10/10. I have been going to this dentist for as long as I can remember. Mrs. Phin (hygienist) is friendly always making sure that I wasn't in any pain while she was working on my teeth. Not only are the hygienists great, but Dr. Tran is also efficient, thorough, and compassionate. The front desk staff are always so welcoming as well. The office is also very clean, and I've always come out of the practice with a cleaner, brighter smile. Dr. Bryan L. Grimmer claimed I had 10 cavities. After consulting another dentist I was told that fillings were not required and that those "cavities" were just imperfections. It is absolutely ridiculous to try and squeeze money out of people like that for no reason. I've been coming to Dr. Tran's practice for over ten years now. I stick with him because he's a friendly, skilled and painless dentist (which is apparently hard to find!). My last visit was in August 2014. I had forgotten to schedule a cleaning appointment, but the office staff were helpful in fitting me in an open time slot. They were very friendly in doing so. Upon my visit, I was greeted by the smiling office staff, who know me by name since I've been a patient for so long. They always make friendly conversation and remember little details about me that makes the waiting room a very comfortable place. Phin, the hygienist, eventually comes out and greets me and brings me into a dental room. She is always energetic and entertaining to be around. Her cleanings are very thorough and I can't ever feel a thing while she's working on my teeth. This time around, she needed some x-rays so she quickly did that as well. She knew exactly what she was doing and got good shots of my teeth first time around. After she was done, she called in Dr. Tran, who came in to do a quick check on my teeth. He's quick and thorough and has a delightful personality. After he was done, I collected a goody bag which consisted of a new toothbrush and other dental supplies. Before I left, I had a quick chat with the receptionists about my next appointment, billing, and said my goodbyes. I'll be seeing them again in just less than 6 months! My last visit was a very generic dental visit. But a time I truly appreciated being a patient here was just last year- during my general cleaning, Phin, the hygienist, noticed a small cavity forming in one of my teeth (not too sure of specifics...I know absolutely nothing about teeth). When calling in Dr. Tran to check my teeth, she mentioned the potential cavity. This meant scheduling another appointment and coming back to get it filled. I was the last appointment of the day and everyone was about to go home. Dr. Tran said that he could stay longer than he was expecting to fill my cavity, so I wouldn't have to schedule another appointment during a workday! He really cares about his patients, and of course, I said yes! to filling my cavity right away. When he filled my cavity, it was virtually painless. I was impressed, since this was my first filling in years - I didn't know it would be that easy (or that's how he made it look/feel!). I'm thankful that Dr. Tran was flexible with his time, and cares about his patients. I don't think most dentists would do this - they would just ask for you to schedule another appointment during their normal hours on another day. Summary: The people at this office are genuinely nice and caring. They want the best for you and are wonderful people. Dr. Tran is an amazing dentist - I recommend him to everyone I know. And those I recommend him to end up being long-term patients. There's a reason I've been with this practice for over a decade! this dentistry practice don't sound right to me. He was doubtful and let a not so knowledgeable patient who is my mom to sign off for payment for promised work before actually having delivered the promised product. He apparently lied to Capital One in the Sunlight and shamelessly without care to keep the $3500.00 charged to a set (upper and lower jaws) of dentures that did not work on her and subsequently disputed due to non-delivery of promised product. He claimed to Capital One that the work was "complete" and "patient was satisfied" when that was never true since she brought back the dentures and was supposedly still in the process of a re-do but they did not follow up, and continued to lie to the various authorities when they are complained of the truths regarding this situation. We have logical proof of his lying but we don't want to go back and forth in court to fight for recovery so we are putting this review to warn prospective and future patients. He currently has possession of her dentures since she had dropped them at his office as they did not fit the gum lines and they fell out whenever she put them in. His wife an office manager for this practice asked me for money in an unprofessional manner I don't have any real money for these Vietnamese anymore and she also called me at 6:00 AM when the truths come out and the money was disputed. After that, he lied openly in the Sun to further keep the money with Capital One siding with him for some reason probably money% reason they have with his business Visa contract. Also The Board of Dentistry just checked your husband's work result with the dentures not the fact that he took her money and kept the dentures. This is a violation of contract law since your hubby did not deliver the promised product. She left the dentures and your front office with your hubby never attempt to follow up after you had lied to the American Capital One and obtained this money that you cannot eat for lifetime. And don't talk to me that way. I am tired of taking care of all or most of you since 1975 and since 1995. You and your husband the way you told me also seemed irresponsible when the patient was also injured at your husband's hands. My advice for prospective patients is don't trust them when it comes to dispute due to unsatisfactory work. Please see all of the above. read more

Dr. Tran is the best, however his entire front desk staff needs to go or else he'll lose many more patients. I've had several issues with the office but today, I had it. I received 3 phone calls from their office confirming my 9:00am Monday appointment (I work 8am -6pm Monday thru Friday) unfortunately Friday was extremely busy at work and I was unable to return their calls. The message left on my phone was rude (as they normally are) but never did they mention on the message left that if I didn't return their call confirming my appointment then it would be cancelled or "pushed back." Of course I walk in at my supposedly 9:00am appointment (20mins earlier) and was told that because I never confirmed, I'd had to wait. I've worked in the medical field for years, my first job was a receptionist at a doctor's office, they don't have a clue how to properly treat people nor what customer service is. I know that there are a lot of people who feel the same way that I do about dentists but this dentist is awesome.I have only lived in this area for 11/2 years and am not familiar with the area.i looked this dentist up on the internet before i visited his office.He is very personable along with everyone on his staff.Most dentists to me represent pain but I am here to tell you that this one does not.He really knows what he is doing.As i said before I am petrified of dentists but I needed four teeth pulled in the front,on the bottom.He did not put me to sleep.He only gave me novacaine.I'm telling you I felt nothing before nor after the procedure.I did not even need the pain meds that he gave me.I would highly recommend this dentist to anyone. read more

This is a very honest and fair review. I was recommended this dentistry practice by a website with positive reviews, so I decided to come here. Positive: -Cleanliness, free bottle water in mini fridge to your right when you walk in (don't know if they still have that). Plenty of chairs that are sturdy and clean as well. Computers are situated so that patient's information is protected, in compliance with HIPAA. However, they should be more careful with their paper charts being exposed in an area that people are walking by who can glance at them. They should be closed or flipped over when not in use. HIPAA violation charges are not cheap, but money should not be the driving factor as any good customer-centered practice would want to place their patients' safety and well-being as priority. -The dentist, Dr. Tran has a caring demeanor and good bedside manner, so he meets his mission, but as a whole practice and team, I cannot state the same. He has about 20 years of practice experience, so he is competent and has certain skill sets that not every dentist around the area has. Some of his dental hygienists (Phin) are very thorough and also have caring, positive attitudes. Occasionally, there are temps or agency ones that do things a little differently, but they still get the job done. Negatives: -I understand this is a business at the end of the day, but you can still practice as a business without being deceptive and display behaviors that suggest greed for money. The office manager (Tina Tran) has on many occasions pushed deep cleaning on me. My insurance did not cover, so she would tell me I would have to pay out of pocket $1000 or more per session. I did not hear a peep from the dentist or dental hygienist about my need for one, so the next time, I asked the licensed healthcare (dental hygienist) about it, who told me I did not need one after a quick test. -I have had one charge on my insurance bill and had to pay copay where a procedure was charged on a visit that was not performed. So, service was not rendered but they were quick to charge. Someone later told me that is grounds for possible insurance fraud, since you cannot charge for a procedure that was never done. I was glad I looked through my billing carefully and pointed it out. Instead of an apology or explanation, all I got was Okay fine, we'll refund you. I'm going to give them a benefit of the doubt and write it off as possible honest mistake, but all the other little things I see just makes me feel like I can't trust them. -Their obsession with x-rays is over the top. I'm young with no significant dental history, so there should be no need for 3-4 x-rays per year. At most, twice a year. I've had to decline it on one or two occasions because they couldn't even give me a reason for why on earth they are doing. There was one visit where one person took the wrong chart and got confused because I had already gotten one recently but she did not see or didn't know what she was doing. -Back to the manager here and another assistant named Maria. They failed to confirm my insurance as being up to date as I ask every time when I come in if they can confirm and if everything is still working, they say yes. One full year later, as I come for my 2nd visit, after the procedure has been done, and I had paid the copay, Maria told me my insurance doesn't work anymore and that I'm responsible for payment for the previous year and this visit in full. Apparently, it stopped working one year ago and nobody at this practice was courteous enough to notify me. Worse, they told me to call the insurance and sort it out so that I could come back and continue seeing them again. If I were a practicing business and most especially associated with healthcare and focus on quality care, I would pick that phone up and call the insurance myself to advocate for my patient. And because it's part of going above and beyond for your customer. I was never informed by my insurance nor the office about the issue, so I ultimately, I called my insurance to rectify the issue. Then after payment, I realized they did not subtract my copay that I paid out of pocket last time, so I had to ask them. That shouldn't even happen since it's all there in the computer--every cent that I owe them they ask for, but they conveniently did not see that I paid a copay? I talked to some of my friends who are practicing dentists and dental hygienists and they told me as a business, they would absorb the charges because customer service is more important than the money and also the staff failed to verify and confirm that insurance was still valid, which should occur at the beginning of every visit--not one year later when the insurance authorization failed and then they noticed because they did not get the money. -This is my own experience and observations, and I do have a background in customer care and a keen eye for details, so I expect more than just a "friendly smile." read more

Both of my kids love Dr. Tran because Dr. Tran know how to work with kids..... I love that the office is taking the appointment time seriously so I never have to wait like other dentist offices in the area. Dr. Tran will be my family dentist for many years to come. read more
