Smile Tiger Coffee is a gem perfectly located just steps from the VIA Rail/GO Station, making it an ideal stop when picking up friends or heading to the train. I have tried their flat white, London fog, lemon scone, cheddar scone and date square. All were beautifully made and full of flavor. The ambiance is warm and inviting, with plenty of greenery and a relaxed vibe. There is also outdoor seating to enjoy on nice days. The staff are consistently fast, friendly, and welcoming, making every visit smooth and enjoyable whether you are grabbing a quick drink or staying to relax. Parking out front is limited to 15 minutes, but the train station offers 30 minutes free or the option to pay for longer. While the parking is not perfect, the coffee, treats, and atmosphere more than make up for it. Definitely a must stop spot every time I am at the station. read more

Decide to try the coffee here while waiting for the GO Train to arrive when the GO bus were not running I got their flat white. It was kind of small than what I thought but very caffeinated. The location is next the the Kitchener Go Station. It is seems like a very cozy, casual, quiet and not very busy. The staff were helpful and the service was really quick. There are a couple of weird things they did such as giving a drink with a lid so you can add any sweetener and dairy product in your drink depending on your drink. This might because of me mentioning any sweetener/sugar cause I was expecting a question about adding sweetener/sugar and/or any dairy products like other coffee places that were much larger and busier than this location. read more

I was so excited to visit this cafe with a friend and it exceeded my expectations!! We went in the afternoon and there was almost no one else there. The aesthetics of the cafe are lovely. There are tons of plants, wood decor, painted canvases and even poetry decorating the place. It feels lovely. I wish it were closer to my place. I would go all the time because the study atmosphere is perfect. There's lots of light and one of the windows outlooks the train station which is wonderful! We watched the passengers exit the train. In terms of location it feels a bit sketchy and you have to cross a busy road by foot if you bus. The staff were sweet. In terms of the food and drink, it's a little on the pricier side. We ordered a pretzel which was tasty and 2 matcha lattes which were...less so. They were very watered down so I probably wouldn't get them again. A lot of their menu options seem rather plain and overpriced for what they are (like the toast options). Overall great experience though and I would highly recommend! Okay, I have now given this cafe 3 times my business, and their muffins are only worth it, in my books. Yesterday I paid $11, eleven dollars for 2 thick slices of multigrain bread, barely any cream cheese, smoked salmon and scrimpits of sliver-sized cucumber slices. When I order a tartine - an opened face sandwich I expect a lot more. Garnish, at least a little bit in between the bread slices, disks of radishes would be awesome- make it watermelon radish and violà you have an even more colourful plate, add a little bit of mesclun salad on the side, or basil, parsley, coriander, or dill atop the salmon. Ideally, dill is an excellent pairing. Perhaps my days at Le Pain Quotidien set the Tartine Stage pretty high. There's a considerable price point difference though. LPQ, you pay for quality, you expect more, you also know you're gonna get it! At Smile Tiger I am not too sure the same can be said. Why is it named that anyway? They're calling me & other patrons a tiger and they want me to smile? Smile, Tiger! Or are their coffee beans THAT good, they aughta make a tiger smile? Shade grown perhaps? Like the Tiger lurking in the dark for its prey. I am stumped with the branding choice. I can understand why so many people choose to eat at home, more affordable, you get to control what you have on your plate, in your belly without the added judgement or the extra charges. That way you're not spending $$$ on an underwhelming/disappointing experience, both in food and service alike. I also ordered one of their cold pressed juices. Another $11. You know 'cause, I was there and I thought, why not? Their juices are by Goodvibes Juice Co. So in essence, I am now reviewing them also. I'm in a new place, I figure I'll try their fresh juice. Unfortunately this juice fell short of the explosion of pineable flavour I was anticipating. It boasts, sunshine in a bottle, by way of appearance and their name, "sunkiss". It tasted watered down to me. So I look on the ingredients and boom, filtered water is listed as second. Okay so pineapple can be fairly sweet sometimes, yet in a cold pressed juice, Water? I've never quite experienced that before, apart from having water-based vegetables like celery or cucumber in a cold pressed juice, give it the more watery flavour. Oi, another mistake I will not make again. Cold pressed juice is meant to be top-of-the-line when it comes to health. Nutrient-rich, shorter shelf life. Yes, consuming water is also super healthy however the point of CPJ is to condense the nutrients of the fruits and vegetables to drinkable form and to have those nutrients be at their peak during their consumption. It's why cold pressed juice doesnt have the same shelf life as their other more conventional, sugary and watered down counterparts. I would think adding water to the CPJ loses its integrity. Well, Good Vibes juice co has certainly lost my vote this time around. Their logo is cool. Sacred Geometry. Maybe I'll give them another try with a different juice, after viewing the ingredients list. All in all, Smile Tiger Coffee Roasters, I'll take my business elsewhere. For the record, I really wanted to like them, they've got an awesome location. I mean seriously, jus perfect when you're waiting for the bus, the train or for somebody to come pick you up. The vibe in here is phenomenal. It really brought me back to my tree-planting days where I just wanted good conversation with my friends. The matcha latte with almond milk was so good I had 2! I seem some reviews on here that people are complaining of the lack of outlets and I didn't have that problem because I took out a pen and paper and wrote. Based on the decor and vibe alone of this place I would give it four stars. I had a chai tea latte and it was pretty good, although it did take a solid five minutes to make. However considering they are making it from freshly steeped chai tea and crafting it by hand this isn't something that I found to be an issue. I also had a blueberry scone that was really good. The other food menus looked good and I will definitely be back to try the coffee. The location isn't super convenient for me, but I would make this place a destination. read more

I went there for the first time on Saturday after hearing about it from a friend. My understanding is that this place is KW's first coffee roaster. As can be expected from a fresh coffee roaster, the flavour is robust as a lot of compounds are still present and have not been lost to oxidization yet. Also, the price for a cup will be higher - I think I paid $3.85 or so for a black medium cup. If you are a light roast coffee drinker, you will be disappointed as they don't have any light roast blend. They also have other foods like cookies and salads (with the salads being in the $10+ category). Did not try these so can't comment on their quality. The decor was quite hipster and the ambiance was inviting. If you enjoy a cup of freshly roasted coffee, I recommend you check this place out. read more

I'm a sucker for cute coffee shops so when I saw that the KW area had a new one I had to go check it out! I was pleasantly surprised when I stepped in to this well decorated and spacious lounge. The furnitures are great for either studying or just having a quiet conversation with friends. They have sofas in the middle and tables large enough for books and laptops. What I love most about this place is their large table in the middle that can be shared amongst strangers and the earthy tones/decors around it. In addition their selection of music is on point creating an overall relaxing and quiet space for all to enjoy with their own selection roasted coffees. Their drinks prices are reasonable but I found the food and snacks to be on the pricier end. I've gotten coffee from here whenever I'm traveling by train, but just recently sat down and had and enjoyed a chai latte inside the shop. The customer service was rather nice, although it was a bit loud due to the music. I shared one of their brownies with a friend and we had to speak up to talk to each other but otherwise had a good time. Disappointed. Maybe it was an off day for Smile Tiger. We were a group of three...upon entering the cafe and walking towards the cash register, the cashier walked into the back. We stood there confused for a good 6-7 minutes before she came back and took our order. We ordered three mocha; upon receiving the drinks we noticed the barista made us just regular lattes. Great coffee shop for those of us living on the other side of the city! It's also conveniently located beside the VIA train station, so I'm able to pop-in the mornings I commute to Toronto. Dark, robust coffee blends - the lattes and teas are also beautifully done. I usually treat myself to one of their squares and have become addicted! Finally, the decor is so well done inside. It's very spacious and comfortable, beautiful light streams in through the big windows early in the morning. I had a train to catch this morning and thought a cup of coffee and pastry would hit the spot. I entered and walked up to the cash only to be told "Just so you know we don't open until 9. You are welcome to wait." I looked at my phone. It was 8:53am. I sat and waited and did not notice any significant work being done that would necessitate keeping a customer waiting for 7 minutes (other than exercising your coffee control). I note that neither entrance has a sign stating what the hours are and given both doors were open - I checked when I left. Another couple came in at 8:58am and they were served right away, so I went up to join the line as I suppose 2 minutes early is acceptable. The tone and attitude really put me off. I wanted to like this place and it's sad that this small horrible experience has ruined it. read more

This is possibly my new favorite coffee place in KW. I had a latte (which I use as a benchmark for all new coffee places). The coffee was nice and smooth, and the milk was well-steamed.
