I never thought I would be writing a Yelp review about my Dentist. This is probably only the 2nd or 3rd yelp review I have written ever. in 20 years. I needed to find a new Dr. in Bakersfield after moving here, reluctantly moving on from my beloved Dentist of 20 years in Beverly Hills. My neighbor recommended Smile Studios to me, and I trust her advice completely. I was not disappointed. I have a below average level of anxiety about visiting the dentist, mostly due to my experience with my previous dentist. Still, it's always scary, starting over with a new doctor. In short, Smile studios met and way exceeded my expectations. From my initial phone call inquiring if they are accepting new patients, through my tooth extraction/bone graft procedure yesterday, I am beyond impressed. The kindness of the staff is the first thing I noticed. The office has a very friendly, happy vibe. The opposite of what you would expect of a medical practice, unfortunately. Upbeat music playing. I was offered several financing options, as well as assistance from the front desk dealing with my insurance. The assistants to the doctor were unfailingly kind and friendly, asking me a lot of questions, both about me, and my medical history. Dr. Arbi is such a kind, gentle, caring soul, with a great chair side manner. within a minute or two after meeting him, I felt completely comfortable and confident with him. we bonded over our mutual opinion of living in LA vs. Bakersfield. he reminds me of my childhood dentist. kind, quiet, calm, caring. This place has been an absolute godsend! I needed a lot of dental work done, and was so embarrassed to get it done but the staff was always so supportive and helpful. Was referred to the dental office by a coworker of mine he spoke very highly of the doctor. Appointments were rescheduled without my knowledge when to see clarification got the runaround eventually they were able to pull up when my initial appointment was scheduled for but given the excuse that the dentist recently changed his work schedule. I have attempted to get an appointment with this dentist on three different occasions have even gone as far as to modify my work schedule in order to seek treatment by the dentist that have been unsuccessful. My husband had an encounter with him. He received an emergency dental procedure and while they were waiting for the numbing agent to take effect, one of the assistance begin to speak about the treating Dentist. Which is the last thing that you want to hear when you're about to have a dental procedure done. It was mainly the technician pointing out the errors of the Dentist . In the end, maybe the technician was right. Hopefully they're able to improve their communication skills with patients. read more

I'll be the first to admit it. I used to hate going to the dentist. That was before I encountered Smile Studios. What once was anxiety turned into excitement. Smile Studios was the only dentist practice that accepted my insurance and one that could fit that parameter. Every single staff member that I've encountered treats me with dignity, and respect. The most remarkable part, and the part that stuck with me the most is the judgement free methods of dental health. I hated going to the dentist in the past because of the judgement I'd get sometimes. But here? No judgement, just education, motivation and empowerment. Empowerment! My original hatred for dentists came from the judgement I'd get from staff, dentists, hygienists. But here, they have an approach that's really unparalleled. I don't know the words to describe it, but this place is one of a kind. Office staff enjoy what they do. It shows through their attentiveness to detail, comprehension of dental procedures, and the fact they want you to succeed in your dental work. The people who greet you remember your name, even when you forget theirs, how they treat me is unforgettable. Brenda, Marilyn, Dr. Arbi Ismailyan, Dr. Ana Ismailyan and Dr. Zara Hakobyan truly are the most seasoned dentists in the industry. They're family, and local. The accountability that places on them, I think, is why Smile Studios does its work so well. They don't want to disappoint. The most important part in my opinion is dental health. My dental health is and has improved significantly since coming here. My teeth aren't as sensitive as they once were. My hygienist, Marilyn, actually taught me the proper way to floss because I was ignorantly flossing incorrectly. I know that sounds silly, but it's true. If you are looking for a dentist, I want you to stop and call Smile Studios. Listen to how they answer your call. Be impressed when your dental practice has charm instead of sterile decor. From the front office to the exam to the aftercare this facility and its employees are all immaculate! I have extreme anxiety when it comes to the dentist and everyone was so incredibly kind about it! It was years from my last dental visit and I was so scared I'd need a lot of work! The dentist was so kind and didn't floss or tooth shame me at all and I only had the minor of minor things repaired (a few old cracked fillings just had to be replaced). The front office ladies are gems and all kind and easy to work with and really fit me in quickly! During my filling replacement they even got me a blanket because they knew I had anxiety they got me in so fast and kept checking in with me the whole time! They really listen and offer really helpful advice! The hygienists are all super efficient and warm and inviting and so good! I wish I could give ten stars! The entire team is perfect! Today i had the pleasure of meeting dr. Arbi..arby?? You get it. And marylin they were such a delight! And made me feel so comfortable and happy to be there. Terrible experience! Was told my insurance would cover my treatment, was even given a copay, scheduled my appointment started treatment only to be slapped with a bill 7 months later and told, sorry your insurance didn't end up covering it. I was never told to wait on treatment until a preauthorization was received or that there was a possibility it might not cover. I would have waited. Only halfway through my treatment with completely shaved teeth, and temporary crowns I learned that they were still trying to bill my insurance and that there could be a possibility that it might not cover. It's frustrating and a very unprofessional way of conducting business. Stay away. read more

Back again with my new front teeth. This place is very accommodating and very detail focused. I don't have a problem with pain and they make sure I don't feel any. This establishment has a very warm and welcoming environment and is run by a dentist and his dentist wife. The staff are cool AF, with some very caring and compassionate staff. Never going back to Western Dental again! Staff is amazing here at smile studios. The hygienist Evelyn was very thorough in her dental cleaning. Somewhat of a perfectionist, which anyone can appreciate when it comes to the overall health of your teeth. For many years I been wanting to fix my teeth and after being referred to smile studio by a friend I decided to move forward. After I was explained my options, Braces wasn't really an option for me and decided to go with porcelain crown teeth. The down time was about 2-3 months for my gums to fully heal, about 3-4 office visits. The price wasn't cheap, then again nothing cosmetic is. I'm very happy with the final results. I have had the pleasure of working with both Dr. Ani and Dr. Arbi and wow! That's all I can say. They are so patient and knowledgable - their technique is impeccable and most importantly - they are really, really good at what they are doing. I found them when I had a major issue and went to another dentist who told me to come back in several weeks to see the 'specialist' and I ended up getting an infection. I did not like this place at all! Missed my sons cavity...I had to point out the spot on my sons tooth myself. The lady Theresa is extremely rude to be considered an office manager. We decided to leave this place mainly because of Theresa's attitude but didn't like the atmosphere and cleanliness either. The hygienist that cleaned my sons teeth barely brushed them and didn't even floss them. They even gave my toddler adult tooth paste in his bag. Poor excuse for a dentist office. read more

I brought 2 of my kids here just because it was super close to my house. Both my 9 year old and my 4 year old did fine and liked the gal that did their cleanings. I haven't been to the dentist in years, due to high anxiety. I had a tooth that was bothering me so bad, I finally called to make an appointment. They got me in that hour! Let me start off by saying that I absolutely hate going to the dentist - that is until now! First off, it was painless to get an appointment as the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They were able to work around my hectic schedule and get me in ASAP. Second, the facilities were extremely clean and they had newer machines. Third, and most importantly, the dentists there were extremely knowledgeable and capable. I was so impressed with how painless my experience was as I've had nightmare dental experiences in the past. Their office wouldn't schedule an appt for my 18 month old, even after I explained to them that the American Dental Association and the American Association of Pediatric Dentistry recommend the first dental appt when the first tooth appears but no later than age 1. They told me to wait until 3.5 for her first appt, which is an outdated practice. On the plus side, now I know that they are not up to date with current dental practices so I can avoid bringing my daughter here when she is older. read more
