She explained their no-pressure orthodontic consultation and found an appointment time that worked great for my family and I. Natalia and the entire front office (special shout-out to Melissa too!) have always been kind and helpful. We had a great consult with Dr. Dale. He was so thorough in his exam and recommendations, with a warmth that we had never experienced before. We are so grateful, as our daughter (and we, her parents) were instantly put at ease. We immediately wanted to become his patients and plan to be for many, many years! Becky assisted us regarding orthodontic cost and payment options. She is SPECTACULAR. There was never any pressure to proceed, and she and the team made sure that everything was explained in full detail so we knew what to expect at all times. Above and beyond! Braces? Go ANYWHERE else. I have never encountered a…read morehealthcare provider I found more hostile or profoundly unprofessional than Dr. Bandres. During my appointment, Dr. Bandres became argumentative with me while I was reclined in the chair. She began speaking about me to her assistant Rosa, thinking that I could not understand Spanish. With her hands in my mouth and me unable to speak up for myself, I felt completely helpless and vulnerable. Afterwards, I asked a question about my treatment. All hell broke loose. As Dr. Bandres was arguing and berating me, I repeatedly asked Dr. Bandres to sit me upright because I was uncomfortable continuing the conversation in that position. Dr. Bandres refused. Flat out crossing her arms, rolling her eyes and looking away from me while standing in place like a toddler. I asked again. Dr. Bandres still refused. I was completely stunned. I cannot adequately explain how powerless it feels to be reclined in a dental chair while the doctor standing over you argues with you and refuses to sit you upright after you repeatedly ask her to. And then she continues to mock you, refuse eye contact, stands over you like you are garbage. I asked Dr. Bandres to stop arguing with me. I asked Dr. Bandres to stop laughing at me. I asked Dr. Bandres to answer my questions and simply discuss my orthodontic treatment. Again, I was so stunned by Dr. Bandres's behavior that I actually had to remind her several times, "You are the doctor. I am your patient. I deserve respect. Please, just answer my question about the braces." She refused. She only wanted to argue that it wasn't her fault that she missed a tooth, which was completely irrelevant at this point. Instead of anyone attempting to de-escalate the situation, members of the staff joined in. I was mocked, called "annoying," and accused of having an "attitude." Afterward, I complained to Daisy, the office manager. I asked to be transferred to another orthodontist because I did not feel comfortable allowing Dr. Bandres or any of the staff at this location to continue treating me. Sonrisa agreed to transfer my case and scheduled my next adjustment with another orthodontist. Then, shortly before that appointment on the day of, I was told the new orthodontist refused my case and that I would have to go back to Dr. Bandres. I refused to return to the provider whose behavior caused my complaint. I was subsequently informed that the other orthodontists within Sonrisa would not accept my case either. Now I have braces physically attached to my teeth, I am overdue for an adjustment, and I have NO ORTHODONTIST supervising my treatment. And after all of this? I paid Sonrisa approximately $1,100. They are offering to refund approximately $400. They intend to keep approximately $700 while refusing to continue the orthodontic treatment they started and leaving me to figure out what to do with the braces still attached to my teeth. They robbed me, plain and simple. I didn't abandon my treatment. I didn't stop paying. I didn't decide I didn't want braces anymore. I spoke up after the way Dr. Bandres treated me. My experience with Dr. Bandres was degrading, humiliating, and completely unacceptable. Patients should never be mocked by the people responsible for their healthcare, especially when laying down and at their most vulnerable. A patient should never have to repeatedly beg a doctor to sit them upright. And nobody should fear losing access to their ongoing treatment because they complained about how a provider treated them. I have filed a formal complaint with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation regarding Dr. Bandres and the discontinuation of my orthodontic care, and I am preserving my records and communications regarding this situation. If you are considering orthodontic treatment with Dr. Bandres, please advocate for yourself, keep copies of EVERYTHING, and know exactly what will happen if you ever need your care transferred. I deeply regret trusting Dr. Bandres with my orthodontic treatment.

The next day they told me they had an opening and I was able to go at the open time slots. Everything done via text. Very efficient. The entire staff was great. I got X-rays and a cleaning. They kept checking in to see if I was ok, and if I'm doing good. They even allow you to put on anything you want on Netflix if you want. Never had a dentist offer that haha The cleaning went great. Fast, and pain free. I've had some pretty rough cleanings before, this was as pleasant as it could be. I am coming back in to get a new retainer. And before I left they gave me an estimate of how much it would cost and they put me on the calendar for the return visit.
