I moved to Norfolk in November, and Smashers has already become a regular in my restaurant rotation! The burgers and fries are always fresh and full of flavor! The smashers sauce is also really good, I love it on my burgers, but also to get a side of it to dip my fries in! This is a casual dining experience, you order at the counter, then wait for your name to be called at the window when your food is ready. It's a little longer than fast food, but it's really fresh and made to order.

After three visits I'm convinced that Smashers needs to be updated to a 5. It's not just the fantastic burgers, oh they are fire!!! It's the entire business. I had an opportunity to talk to the owner Henry for the first time on my most recent. They are looking at expansion in Hilltop. I expressed my satisfaction with the operation. Smashers is definitely a contender for best burger in the 757.

I'm rarely compelled to write reviews, but this experience warranted one. I ordered an Original Smasher (smasher style; smasher sauce, pickles, onions) and fries. At $18, I expected a high-quality smash burger and hot, well-executed fries, but both were underwhelming. The burger lacked the crispy sear you expect from a smash style and wasn't notably flavorful, and the fries were overcooked, under-salted, and flavorless. Service was also slower than expected for a simple order; there were barely that many of us waiting. This used to be a well-revered food truck. I almost gave this a 2-star review because the price point of $18 (that's the price WITHOUT a drink), but I'm not trying to tank this joint's average. Maybe it was an off day. I truly just want to give an honest review to temper all the glowing reviews that led me to this place today. I will not be returning.

I had the chance to try Smashers at the Norfolk Premium Outlets with a sista friend on 6/6/26. I had seen a review by a local content creator and decided to try them out. I had a the Original Smasher w/ fries and a drink. The young lady that waited on us was friendly, offered suggestions and handed us our food when it was ready. They have both in and outdoor seating and played good music. The burger was tasty with good toppings, the fries are thin and they serve Coke products. Prices are very similar to Five Guys. The also serve hotdogs, and milkshakes. If you got a hankering for a good burger while in the 757, try them out.

I recently tried Smashers Burgers and Fries and ordered the single Smashers-style burger with fries. The burger itself was tasty and flavorful, though a bit on the salty side. I really liked the pickles and soft bun--it held everything together nicely and added to the overall experience. Unfortunately, the condition of the restaurant took away from the meal. The floor was noticeably greasy, which was a bit of a turnoff and made the place feel less clean than I'd expect. Overall, decent food but the atmosphere could use improvement. Not sure if I'll be back.

I had high hopes for smashers, but my visit left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. I ordered a single patty, and honestly I had to double check if there was actually meat on the bun. The patty was so thin it was practically see through, with random holes like swiss cheese. I get that it's a smashburger, but this one looked like it had been smashed out of existence The fries? Paper thin. Im talking about thinner than a receipt. They were super crispy, sure, but to the point where I wondered if I was just eating crunchy air. The oreo milkshake was ok nothing mind blowing. It did the job. Keep in mind this review is reflecting the quality of food not the service. The people working there were very kind and apologetic about any wait for the food.

Smashers Burgers & Fries - Norfolk, VA Visited: April 15, 2026 First time trying Smashers, and my immediate impression was that it feels like a knockoff of Five Guys--very similar layout and menu style. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but it does set a certain expectation. The burgers are made with fresh ingredients and are definitely tasty, but they just don't hit that "wow" level. The buns, in particular, could be better--they didn't quite hold everything together or add much to the overall flavor. Solid burger, just not memorable. The fries were a bit of a letdown. They're cut very thin and came out slightly undercooked, which took away from what could have been a strong side. Overall, it's not a bad spot, but with options like Five Guys or In-N-Out out there, it's hard to see myself going out of the way to come back. If you're nearby, it's worth trying once--but probably not a repeat for me.

Give this place a shot. First off, they have a great story, so I love supporting a local small business. The restaurant is keeping to the food truck feel, nothing fancy. Which means it is a fast food service. Not saying that is bad, don't expect table service. The burger is solid, but nothing fancy. Quality products and good skills make good food. I really enjoyed the bun, buttery and soft. Also, the price is good, I think this is very reasonable for what I ordered. If you're at the outlets and looking for a quick meal, give this place a try. I would absolutely go back.

I found this spot on accident today. I just happen to be staying at the hotel next-door and drove by to see what all they had. It's really nice inside and they have plenty of parking for everybody. I ordered the OG smasher and small fry. My order came out pretty fast and when I saw it sitting there on the tray, it was beautiful. The burger was pretty good size and loaded with all the toppings you'll ever need. Everything was seasoned to perfection and the fries were nice shoestring crunchy crispy fries. They had some pretty cool music playing too . This was a 10/10

It was my first time here and it didn't disappoint. The burger and fries were really good. I ordered the single smasher and added on the fry and drink combo. I loved the grilled onions and smasher sauce. Everything tasted fresh. The service was good. My only concern is that the cashier didn't know what was in the smasher sauce. However, they asked someone else. The seating was plentiful.

I'm no stranger to getting smashed. I've been getting smashed since 2021. When I frequent a day trip to Cape Charles I always hit up Smashers Burgers and Fries. I had the opportunity to finally get smashed at their brick and mortar location near the Norfolk Outlets. My go to order is a single smasher with grilled onions, smasher sauce, pickles, mayo, lettuce, extra cheese with fries. The burger has great flavor and was cooked to perfection. The bun is so soft, yet there is a wonderful crisp to it, as they toast it in the grill. Tonight I also ordered a hot dog. I love that it is sliced down the middle. I kept it very typical 4th of July, ketchup and mustard. I love that the bun was also toasted. The hotdog was simple, but packed good flavor. I love the look in the inside. A simple take on how it started, a food truck look. There is about 11 tables to sit at. Parking is plentiful. Service was good. Questions were asked. Orders came out fairly quick as they are made to order. The only thing missing was the clacking seagulls, the sounds of waves and the sand beneath my seat. My only complaint was the condiment bar was missing napkins, and my fries were overcooked to my liking. But, that's nothing worth taking a star away. I do think napkins could be on the table, and a dispenser for ketchup instead of packets would be better.

What a surprise!…read more We had a quick bite here before going to the Chartway Arena for a show and my husband wanted something for lunch. It was packed, probably with people doing what we were doing, but there were several seats at the bar so we snagged three and were greeted pretty quickly by a very friendly waitress. She made recommendations at my husband's request and suggested the special which was two hotdogs with topping of your choice, half order of fries or tots and a drink. He went with that and we ordered a single cheeseburger for our toddler. Food was out quickly - probably less than 10 minutes and the burgers and fries were piping hot and very good. My husband was pleased. Their menu is much larger than I expected with tons of burgers, sandwiches, some salads and other things. Our waitress and a few others checked on us while we ate to ensure we didn't need anything. Very good service. I think we will definitely come back.

It's one of the few old school Hot Dog Shops that still feature the iconic Norfolk Dog. The spot closes at 3pm each day. There was plenty of time to stop. The location is on Azalea Garden Road about 2 blocks north of Princess Anne Road. Don't expect a picturesque spot. This building is located in the midst of warehouses, car repair shops & such. Lew's was obviously packed with people wanting those few last days of the wonderful Norfolk Dogs. Parking was around the front & side of the shop & on the street. Even the "no parking" area was filled. We stepped directly into an earlier time. And I loved it. Seating was mainly around the counter. I would have loved to have eaten there. But we had just had donuts in Ghent. So we ordered at the cramped takeout counter, The cook, who I suspect was the owner's wife, cooked on a small grill near the front window. A young man took the orders, writing each takeout order on a paper bag for the cook. The proprietor busily did everything. He was personable & funny. He had his rules, just like his long gone competitors, We sat at the counter and talked to a customer who had driven down from Arlington. He obviously knew the place well as the owner bantered with him. When our order was ready we left, a little sad that we couldn't stay and eat. It had been so much fun. The Norfolk Dogs were wonderful. They're snap dogs, customarily served only with mustard, chili & onions. Lew's did allow other condiments added, even serving French fries. You could get thrown out of some of his former competitors for asking for catsup or potato chips. There must be a return before they close. I want to sit and eat at the counter. I want to come out with that familiar smell of onions in my hair. By the way, they're still open to selling the shop. It comes with the secret recipe for their chili sauce. Norfolk Dog lovers need this eatery to remain open. Don't let them be lost to time.

(And…read morean occasional Friday) It was one of those places that felt like a pleasant stroll through a simpler time. An old-school diner type-vibe and I liked it. Prices were reasonable, food was good, and staff were mostly nice. Felt like I fit in as a regular right away. I liked the old box TV's in the corner and the sound of the grill. I'm not even one for hotdogs, not a fan to be honest. However, I decided to try the namesake and was surprised by how good it was. I was even convinced to get another one on my first visit. I tried multiple things each week, and was pleased with all of it. Then one day, I was surprised in another way. They had hidden a loose body part under my burger. It was so disappointing. I walked out and once I was behind the building, I gave it the old "Ehh!" gesture by brushing my hand in the direction of the place. That signaled the end of my quarter-year patronage. A few months later, I was at a different eating establishment on the other side of town. And one of the employees from Lulu's walked in and said: "So you're not getting hotdogs tonight, huh?" I was dumbfounded. I couldn't believe it. First off, they were closed at the time, and secondly, I don't appreciate scraggly surprises in my food. (Now to be fair, the place I was in that night ALSO gave me a fuzzy memory to last a lifetime, but that's beside the point.) So if you decide to go here, make it a regular haunt, then suddenly stop going for three months, they'll stalk you and mock your new culinary preferences. Or maybe it was just me they did that to. Regardless, I haven't been back and it's been over ten years. Needless to say, I'm not going to be pressing my tuxedo or sewing any buttons on my vest anytime soon, as I'm not worried about looking my best, because I don't care that Lulu's back in town. I'm not returning.
