I ordered online to be picked up at the White Plains location so I can't comment on the cleanliness of the restaurant itself. Online order & pickup was easy. During pickup, the person in front was friendly and helpful. The biggest problem I have is this location does not give you a reasonable quantity on the fries for the high prices they charge. Fries and tots are half filled. At Five Guys, they overload the box with fries and sometimes, it even overflows into the bag. Another problem is the burgers are not packaged properly. They stack burgers on top of burgers wrapped in a thin paper wrapper into one bag. The burgers end up being all "smashed" (literally!) and very soggy. By the time we open the burgers, the paper is sticking to the burger and getting all torn up from the grease. The floors were wet and dusty in some places and the few tables that were assessable were greasy and wet as well. Oh and the same person who handles the money and food, also had to wipe the table after we refused to sit at a dirty table....with the same gloves. Food is on par with other locations and I have never been unsatisfied in that respect. However, the service is abysmal and completely unprofessional. Waited at the register with a line behind me for 7 minutes before someone came out of the kitchen to take my order. I wanted to order a milkshake but was told there aren't any milkshakes left. While waiting I heard one of the workers talking about cleaning the milkshake machine and to not take anymore orders for milkshakes. Essentially they just didn't want to make one because they would have to clean it again. This was at 8:30 while the location is open until 10. If there is something on your menu, I expect to be able to order it. Secondly, the employees are annoyed by doing there job and clearly do not want to be at work. I ordered the avocado burger today and while all the ingredients were fresh and somewhat appealing: the whole wheat bun, crispy bacon, fresh avocado (still green!) and tasty mayo, the burger itself left much to be desired. What I received was a thin overcooked (I was not asked how I like it) patty (quite possibly made from a frozen one). If you declare yourself a burger joint, please at the very least make sure you are using fresh meat that is made to the customer's taste. The girl who took my order appeared really aloof. I placed my order and double checked the screen at the register to make sure she got everything. She forgot to add jalapenos. I also asked for sweet potato smash fries. She ended up putting regular sweet potato fries. I pointed it out to her and she changed it to regular smash fries. And then finally after pointing it out again, she managed to get it right. My other gripe is that my fries were waaaay too greasy. I've been to Smashburger a couple of times and I can honestly say that it's better than 5 guys but it's not something to rave about. The burgers are a bit overpriced but you can really taste that the beef and other ingredients are more fresh. I custom made my burger- regular beef with American Cheese, Lettuce, tomato, pickles, spicy chipotle ( which was not spicy at all!,) mayo, applewood bacon, onions, and mushrooms on a brioche bun. Really like the onion topping and mushroom which gave the burger extra flavor. The bacon was too salty so I didn't really like it, and I would do without next time. Overall the Burger was tasty, much better than fast food burgers like McDonalds or Burger King, which is what we expect given the prices for Smashburgers. Burger + fries = ~(around $13.50) I'd definitely recommend getting the smash fries which are tossed in Italian olive oil, Rosemary, and garlic (the garlic isn't overpowering, even good for those who aren't a fan of garlic!) but if not the regular fries are pretty good as well. This specific Smashburger restaurant was pretty small, but very clean. The staff were very friendly and even took the time to go over to our table and ask us if everything was fine and if we needed anything. Excellent service, and good burgers. If you're expecting over the top amazing burgers, don't get your hopes up high, these burgers will definitely satisfy a crave for burgers but they're not the best burgers I've tried but much better than average. read more

My first visit to this particular location. So I order one of the "specials" the Windy City Burger. The burger patty itself is almost perfection. It's crunchy and crispy on the outside without being over-cooked on the inside. I will build myself a custom burger with mayo instead of mustard next time. So why dock them a star? Well the floor was so slippery that I almost fell. The food runner was sliding along like on an ice rink. Finally, someone put a yellow sign on the floor, you know the type they use when they mop. Invariably, I pick the wrong line and someone who comes after orders first. the system here is that you order, pay and your food is brought to your table. The servers and managers circulate amongst the diners making sure all is well. My go to burger order is the Truffle Swiss Big Burger, which needs no augmentation table-side. I think the arugula is a recent upgrade. The bun is soft, the burger has a nice crust, and the truffle flavor is evident - probably cheap truffle oil, but it works. I am not a big fan of the fries and plump for the vegetables, which come out of the deep fryer, delicious, unbattered, and a bit oily. Add some Cholula to the ranch type dressing. If you can't stomach the thought of no fries, stick with the sweet potato variety. Beverage of choice is Honest Tea which is serve yourself so you can blend the three types on offer. Unfortunately, I was definitely disappointed by the food at this restaurant. If you were to compare it to a similar operation such as Shake Shack, it falls way short. The way that they create and cook the burger is similar to how burgers are made at the chain restaurant, Steak and Shake. If I understand and can explain this properly, the burgers are not simply round hunks of meat.. rather, they are literally smashed so presentation wise, the burger is not going to look like the typical burger. None of the above is anyting bad but I'm just explaining what the premise of the establishment is. They had the option of make your own burger, as well as their own concocted recipes as suggested burgers. I must say I didnt order any sides so I cant speak to those. What fell super short was THE BURGER! It was just so unbelievably greasy and so much so that I literally cannot recall having had a burger that ranks even close to the grease on this burger. To be fair to the three stars I gave, I need to breakdown the review into three sections : - waitstaff - food - general restaurant decor and setting We met friends there last night for dinner. A total of 6 adults, 5 kids and one 9 toddler in a high chair. We managed to snag two adjacent tables and push them together to make one large table. The waitstaff ( people at the registers and employees walking around checking on you) are extremely helpful and very pleasant. I give them five stars and they were the best part of the dining experience. The restaurant itself has a very small dining area and you can't help but feel a little cooped in. I am sure that the people sitting around us were a little annoyed by the amount of noise the kids were making, but they are all Seven years old, so what can you do? The restaurant itself was clean but due to the size I can only give it three stars. The food was ok, nothing epic. When you walk out of five guys, you usually feel guilty and very full/sick. I finished my burger and onion strings at Smash Burger and was still hungry. They are definitely better than McDonald's but I feel that the burger was nothing outstanding. A few of the other adults at the table felt the same way. One person got a salad and found that it was saturated with dressing. Probably a good idea to get the dressing on the side. They did seem to get high marks from some folks in our group and the kids for the milkshakes, which they said were delicious and decadent. The reason this place gets only 2 is because my burger was so salty. I actually had to tear pieces of it off. I just think someone got a little too heavy-handed on the grill, so I am not going to say they are salty in general. However, from what I was able to eat, it was a tasty burger; fresh and good toppings. However, as a preference, i don't like half my burger sticking out from the bun. The rosemary fries were tasty and the portion size was good enough to share. I was confused, however, with the concept of them busing the tables. I didn't see a sign stating to leave your trash on the table, nor did I see any trash bins. I was stopped by one of the staff members as I was walking with my trash. That's how I found out. At least a dozen tables were empty but were covered with trash and dirty plates, leftover food, etc. The one waiter decided to remedy this by taking all the garbage and loading into an empty booth- like a giant open dumpster. It took almost 15 minutes before I was given my order. First impression; it was messy & falling apart. The Bun was almost ICE COLD & the hamburger thin 1/4" & cooked to a brown crunchy crisp. Since the spicy mayo gob was just oily tasting, I added some mustard. The burger just tasted like a piece of cold, greasy, salty beef jerky in a massive bun. The only saving grace were the fresh bits of jalapeno! Now, those Smash Onions; cut in ribbons, floured in seasoning & fried. They were so salty & thin that there was no onion taste! Over time I've grown disenchanted with Smashburger - the burger is never as tasty as I want it to be and though they offer a variety of French Fry and onion ring options I've finally accepted that I don't like any of them. But a few days ago I found myself here because of a family commitment. Scanning the menu desperately I found the Spinach & Goat Cheese salad and ordered it with a patty and some fresh jalapenos. I was rather pleased, it was quite delicious and reasonably healthy, I can once again go to Smashburger! The cashier was perfectly nice and the servers who dropped off my food and picked up my plates were quite pleasant. This location is a bit small - by about 12:15 all the inside tables were filled - and because the restaurant sits right on Rt 119 it is unpleasant to sit outside. They always forget a topping, or two, or three, that I ordered and they frequently forget an item altogether. I came in August for the 1st time. They are located next to the liquor store on 119. They serve an extremely juicy, Angus burger , I had mine with bacon and cheese and sauteed onions with truffle fries. Prices are a little high but the food is very good , just a notch above 5 guys IMHO although the burgers seem slightly smaller I like the quality of the Smash burgers burgers a bit more. If i could give 0 stars i would. This is the 3rd time ive been to this Smashburger location and waited 30min+ for a chicken sandwich and fries. I order the same thing every time from the Smashburger by my house at gateway mall that never takes more than 10min and that location is busier than this one yet theres only 3 customers in the store and it takes 30min+ to make a chicken sandwich and fries. I called at 5:05 to place my order to pickup . I arrived at 5:12 and was told just a few minutes. Yet here it is 5:35 and im now walking out with my food . Ridiculous. Only good thing is the cashiers are very friendly and try to get your food quicker for you but whoever is cooking and management needs to get on top of it here. The take-out takes has been painfully slow ( min10-15min wait) even with not too many people, the fries are not as crispy and hot and the toppings are meager.
