I was seeing the same server speaking with others in a rather calm and kind tone. I think it's because i'm hispanic, giving very much racist vibes. When they first opened up, everything was perfect. The food was great and the service spectacular. But gradually the food, service and professionalism has declined and declined. They once gave my food to another customer, giving him his food and mine; I had to wait another 15 minutes for them to make it again. At least they gave me a coupon for the extra wait. One thing I noticed early on is the bun was soft and warm. Today, I guess they decided not to heat it anymore. These little things make a big difference in this market. I think maybe more do than let on. I travel a good amount and when I witness good customer service; it's not complicated and it's very easy. Direct eye contact, smile, express interest, and say thank you. Simple. Go to a Chick-fil-A and you will see how high the bar is set. "My pleasure" is said several times. Barely grunted and she wasn't listening to my order as evident on redeeming my free side. Listening...such a concept and something most of us learn a very early age. It did get sorted as the (maybe) manager helped me navigate to the right screen on my phone. No one said thank you and no one smiled. With Smashburger, you pay they give you a number to put on your table. Food out usually in less than ten minutes. I went to get my ice tea (which is top notch at Smashburger) and notice several tables were dirty and the staff seemed to be just standing around. Mmmm. Burger brought to my table and dropped off, not a smile, not a hello, not a thank you. I noticed it wasn't me as the same level of customer service was rampant. Noticed the staff gawking at one of their phones while a poor soul was waiting to place his order. All Smashburger burgers are top notch. Always. Sweet Potato fries a bit salty for me but hey, I knew that going into the place. Oh, did I say the ice tea is good? Oh, I did. I doubt I'll be back to this Smashburger. As part of the loyalty program, I received a message that I could come in for a free Sin City burger with the purchase of a double burger. I customized the burgers slightly and there were no extra charges. As I was waiting for my to-go order, a manager asked if everything was ok. I said yes but that I chose to order to-go because it was so cold in the restaurant from the blowing air conditioning. She agreed that it was a bit chilly and immediately raised the temperature. Such a great place! Amazing food with tons of healthy options, great location, and good parking. We come here for lunch a lot and love that they have healthy options. All of their burger combinations you can make into grilled sandwiches which we love. They also have veggie fries which are awesome. I love getting the smashfries which are seasoned fries, also offered in sweet potato which are delicious. Their peanut butter milkshake is to die for- its made with haagen daaz. Yesterday I tried the jalepeno Baja grilled chicken burger which was awesome, I typically get the New Yorker in the chicken version though. This is fast food. I ordered my meal to dine in at 6:04. My meal did not arrive until 6:37. The staff was focusing on pushing out door dash and or Grubhub orders while neglecting the dine in clients. Additionally, they appeared under trained and understaffed. The food was wholly mediocre. Not worth the 15ish dollars it costed me for a single patty burger, fries and a drink. I've been going to this location since they've opened and in the very beginning the service was great; the restaurant was kept spotless, and my order was right most of the time (and if it wasn't they seemed genuinely sorry and fixed it right up). Something's changed over the last year; the service is nothing short of awful, my order is wrong most of the time (it gets fixed but usually the staff seem so bothered when I point out the mishaps), and the tables and the floors are always dirty, I used to sit in all the time but it's too gross these days. When everything is correct the food is usually great. Then came COVID-19. I've never ordered for delivery before and the first time I did it on 4/2/20 they forgot one of my sides, when I called their solution was to "mention it next time so that I get a free side", seriously? I begrudgingly went out and picked up my missing side, and to their credit they gave me my second side since they figured the first one got cold. I wish I had checked the burgers before I left home because when I got back I discovered the cheese was left off one of them. I was a bit put off to say the least. Today 4/20/20 I decided to give them a second chance because there was a good promo. At least this time we got both sides, however everything else was just colossally wrong, I ordered a bunch of extras on each burger; not only were ALL the extra items I requested left off they left off the toppings that came on them normally. I received a bacon smash crispy chicken with just chicken and a truffle mushroom swiss burger with just the patty and cheese. I can't even imagine how two burgers were messed up so bad and somehow made it out of the kitchen and out the door - did they even check the order? To add insult to injury the fries were cold, wet, and soggy and the tots were only halfway full and also cold. Calling and complaining obviously got me nowhere the first time so I will just never go back or order from there again. The cashier forgot to give me my ticket # for my table so when I realized it I walked up to her, she was occupied with something else with her register and didn't even see me walking back up to her. Out of necessity and convenience, I've been back to Smashburger around 3 times since I first visited back in October. I have to say, they really have grown on me and it's turned into a nice and easy place to get lunch every once in a while. Their chicken sandwiches really do hit the spot when you want something quick, tasty, relatively healthy, and cheap. Also, my wife has said that their fries have been consistently good as well. I also like that their sandwiches are customizable with a host of unique options (goat cheese, fried egg, different kinds buns, different sauces, etc). It would be cool however, if they added more options or rotated them a bit, since the same choices get a bit stale after a while. That aside, there are some issues which make me feel that Smashburger is an average burger joint more than it is extraordinary. For example, they still can seem to nail the veggie frites, which are often neither appetizing or consistent in quality. Today's batch was like eating raw veg bathed in vegetable oil. Blech. They have made it correctly before, where the exterior is crispy and the interior is perfectly cooked, it's just that you never know if you're gonna get goodness or garbage. I also hate their online ordering which is useless. Today I tried to place an order for pickup and it said it wouldn't be ready for 45 minutes. I cancelled, drove by, and got my food within 5 minutes. There wasn't even a line. I'm not sure why there is such a disconnect between the estimated times and reality, but it really does render the online ordering useless when you can just order there and get your stuff faster. Smashburger won't blow your mind most likely, but it'll get the job done if you want something fast and cheap that isn't McDonald's or Burger King. Three stars. read more

January 2015 Update: This location has only been open for about a year but the beginning of the end has already arrived. The highlights of Smashburger have always been food quality and customer service. At the White Plains location, both are failing. My kids are picky eaters so until now, Smashburger has been a godsend in that both kids absolutely loved the SmashChicken sandwiches. No longer. To ring in the new year (I was here about one month ago) Smash has apparently replaced actual chicken breast with over-processed, flavorless chicken/rib meat and it was a massive FAIL with both kids. I tried it and it was barely edible. In addition to the chicken sandwiches, I ordered a milk shake and a side of large fries. They brought over the sandwiches and asked if I was waiting for anything other than the fries. I mentioned that pesky milkshake and they ran off. When the guy returned with the milkshake, I asked about the fries and he said they were coming. Ten minutes later, we were still waiting so I walked over to the kitchen area and the guy asked me what I needed. My fries, I said, eyeballing the THREE orders of fries sitting under the heat lamp. He said someone would bring them over. I told him we were already 15 minutes into our meal and returned to the table. And watched. And waited. As fries came and went. And then my fries popped up under the heat lamp. And even though we couldn't tolerate another bite of those awful chicken sandwiches, I thought that if those fries could just somehow make it to our table before they cooled off, we might be able to salvage something of the meal. Unfortunately, by the time they arrived, we had finished eating. I invited the manager over and gave her my laundry list of complaints and she listened attentively and gave us a few coupons but the damage has been done. Returning is questionable. read more

Everyone was completely helpful, the wait time was quicker than usual and the staff seemed well trained. I came around 2ish thinking it would die down from the lunch crowd but I was wrong it was packed! They had two lines. Lots of parking and clean atmosphere. I thought It would be bigger being that it's white plains, but it was still big enough. For being a grand opening I feel they should have offered free bees! But then again it's smashburger so they would do good regardless. My only complaint was that my fries were soaked in oil, something I never seen traveling throughout there various locations in New York. And I felt the burger wasn't as good As I've had before. That's prob since they were packed and brand spanking new.. Other than that I highly recommend it better and healthier than any other burger place around the area. The food was pretty good here. You won't be disappointed with the original Smashburger. I wish I could have tried the milkshakes. People were ordering them left and right and they looked AMAZING. I would have given 5 stars, but there was a minor issue with ordering because the woman behind the register had to leave her register to serve guests in the restaurant. I was left waiting on a line with no one to take my order. The workers seemed to be overwhelmed with the high traffic at lunch time. They were cooked to perfection, and they were crispy and not overly greasy. The olive oil, rosemary, and garlic added a nice flavor to the fries where you do not seek ketchup. Local favorite that gets reallllly crowded during lunchtimes. They have great deals on your basic burgers, which are satisfyingly filling, greasy, and salty. Prices are comparable to fast food selections, and the service here is so attentive and good! This was by far the worst fast food experience I've ever had. I had to wait for nearly 30 minutes for 3 burgers. The burgers themselves were sub- par. They left the pickles on my dads burger when he asked for them to be taken off. This is on top of the additional wait for my milkshake after I saw 2 people that ordered after me get their burgers and shakes. I definitely will not be eating here ever again. UPDATE: I wrote the review above before even trying the milkshake. DEFINITELY NOT WORTH THE WAIT. Worst milkshake I've ever had, I might as well have ran in the nearby snowbank scooped a handful of snow and poured some milk in it. They should be paying ME to eat THEIR food. My husband and I walk in at 6pm tonight (Saturday). I ordered a smash burger with onion haystack on top, $1.39 extra. When I got the burger I thought they forgot the onion hay, until I took the burger apart and saw 4 little slices (picture below). I was disappointed. My husband got a twin cities burger and made it a meal with large soda and fries (for us to share) for an extra $6.99? Our total order came to $20, for 2 tiny burgers, a handful of fries and a large soda. Thankfully I had a gift card because I would not pay that much for the meal, out of pocket. Finally the employee meeting ended and from the middle of our meal to the end, the managers were checking on every table repeatedly. I give 3 stars because: the extra charge for the onions that were barely there, the employee meeting during a very busy time, the total cost for a small meal, no knives in the utensil bin, but the burger itself though, is quite tasty. Great burger spot! Offers excellent burgers as well as some quality healthy options. My usual burgers are the New Yorker and truffle mushroom Swiss. The truffle mushroom Swiss is a slight favorite. The regular size with a side of smash fries always hits the spot. If you have a big appetite opt for the big size burger. The Oreo shake is an excellent beverage option. Dine in and you get a generous sized shake. Or if you're in the mood for a beer a nice Newcastle or Amstel in a frosted mug go great with your burger Smashburger also has healthy options such as the harvest salad which is delicious! We stopped in here before a New York Liberty WNBA game. I got a turkey burger and my daughter got a cheeseburger. I got a salad with mine and she got french fries. The french fries were tasty, but they were definitely on the greasier side. My salad was about what you expect from a semi fast food establishment. The cucumbers looked a bit sketchy, but he didn't taste too bad. I think you could eat here for pretty good prices and be happy and we would probably come back if we were Interested in a quick and affordable meal.
