Knowing how they taste, normally super crunchy and delicious, was very disappointed to have been given pieces of a chicken sandwich patty instead. The "tenders" were cut to make it look like tenders. The burgers are very small considering how much I paid. I'd pay about the same amount at Whataburger and get a bigger burger. I know some people may think the burger at Smash Burger would have better quality but there isn't a significant difference. I'm going to have to downgrade my review of this location for 2 reasons. First off, we received an awesome promotion at work where you get a "free burger" with the purchase of a side and a drink. Now that's a fantastic deal! Unfortunately, I think every other business within a 5-mile radius also received the same promotional coupons because both times I have been here this week, the place has been PACKED with the line wrapping all the way around to the drink dispensers!! We're talking about 20 people deep. On my first visit earlier this week, I opted for the vegetarian bean burger (which I've had before. Love it!). The manager asked if I wanted sliced grilled mushrooms on my burger for a $1 upcharge. OK, why not. I was so disappointed when they delivered it to our table. Here I was expecting to see a mound of steaming sauteed mushrooms falling off the patty but instead there were maybe about 10 measly pieces/slices, if that many. (See picture below). Live & learn. On today's visit, we got there right around 11:40 and that's normally a good time to arrive and beat the crowd and find a parking spot upfront. Not today. The line was already wrapped around the between the tables when we walked in and to make matters worse, there was only one poor girl working the counter!!!! (See picture below). Everyone else was working the order window and delivering food & milkshakes. They were definitely short staffed today. Someone must've of either called in sick or quit. We waited in line for a good 15 minutes by the time we got up to the counter to order. This time I ordered the Smash chicken sandwich (which is always good), so I have no complaints on the food today. I still enjoy coming to this place but if they've got a promotion going on, you almost have to arrive by 11:15 to beat the crowd. Run! Do not walk away from this place. YOU DESERVE BETTER! After many years of writing to you about burger places in the DFW area, I have NEVER advised on Yelp to not even try a place. This chain is abominable. Dining here, oooops, eating here (for it was not a dining experience) was the worst corporately run restaurant experience I have ever had. Today. Yes. Winter was blowing in. 21F at the time I walked into the location (I will try to refrain from ever calling this place a restaurant, for that definition deserves a truth in advertising) and there were snow flurries, with a wind up to 40 MPH. There was one person ordering, three persons waiting on their orders to take out, one homeless man sitting at a full booth and a small child in the back section laying across the seat, playing video games on a tablet, cell phone. I have never been to a Smashburger location, though other chefs from 9-10 years ago have told me "It's pretty good." But CORPORATE GREED is the culprit for this chain. I first stayed up in the front part of the dining area, sitting at a booth next to the homeless man, who was focused on watch the news on TV, waiting for my corporate attorney to arrive. I went to the back of the restaurant to see if we could get away from the constant front door SLAMMING back and forth and the 21F wind blowing in. The TV in the back was on a cartoon movie, full volume. I went to one employee, who was putting orders together coming out of the kitchen and asked him if the volume could be turned down. He told me "There's a little kid back there watching it." I took his response as "He is a customer and asked to watch it." So far from the actual truth that it burns me to think how many other ways is this place stealing the truth from their customers? When my attorney arrived, I told him the options of Front of the house or back? Because the front door constantly stayed open, blowing in sub-zero wind chill into the place, we went to the back, sitting furthest away from the high volume TV. We tried to have a conversation, but again, found ourselves almost yelling across the table just to hear each other. I went back up front and asked the another employee if it were possible to turn down the volume and asked about the little boy, who was left unattended the entire time. I was told "He is the child of an employee who does not have money to pay for day care." This then brings up the question of corporate paying employees less than wages for a living wage. Since it was so cold, I asked myself "Is the child brought to work each day and told to stay in the parent's car during their shift? And since it is so cold, is the child brought in so he would not freeze to death?" Child protective services may be interested in this observation and the fact that corporate allows this. One regular Smashburger with Haystack onions and a smoked bacon brisket burger with Smash tots (tossed with rosemary, garlic and olive oil), the cost came to $28. No drinks. Each sandwich goes into the kitchen to be made one at a time, even though multiple items were being ordered at the same time. Customers will not be served at the same time, allowing for food to get cold while the rest of the food finally comes to the table. Dining etiquette is a foreign language here. There is no salt or pepper at the tables. The tables have, ketchup, mustard and brown napkins on the table. After our complete order was finally delivered, I had to get up and go to the packaging area and ask the employee for salt and pepper. Tiny packets of salt and pepper were handed to me, about 10 or each. When I go back and started to eat, my sandwich was lukewarm. This was caused by many causes, primarily by the employees taking multiple trips from the kitchen out to the alley to the trash. At least 4 separate trips were made going out back. The door was left open for over 0ne minute each time and I do not need to remind you that it was 21F with a windchill factor of 0, blowing at 40 MPH through the place. FINALLY, someone came and turned down the TV so we could carry on a conversation without having to yell. The little boy in the booth next to us, was constantly starring at me like I had disrupted his life. As I told an employee that the child's constant starring was disturbing, it appears that his mother came out from the kitchen and moved him to another table away from us. I can not go into multiple negatives about the poor quality of the food. My smoked brisket sandwich was prefabricated by Sysco foods. Again, opening 33 restaurants myself, I know Sysco. It had so much gristle in it that it turned my stomach. Again, $28 for 2 sandwiches and two sides. I want to write more, but Yelp won't allow it. Investors should bail. C-suite employees need to be looking for other jobs. This place and hopefully all will closed in less than a year. YOU DESERVE BETTER! read more

It's good! The burger that is. Consistently a good burger. Friend had the Truffle Swiss Mushroom burger, gave is a 5/5! I tried the Baja Cobb Salad. It was good, not great. It doesn't come with chicken you have to add it as an extra, size was ok for a $6 salad. Good for being on a diet. The dressing was a little too spicy for me, but it had plenty of cheese, onions etc to balance it. Service was quick and got our order correct. Overall always a good choice. I went to a Smashburger since I haven't had it in forever and the employee authoritatively yells at me the moment I walk in the door that they will not serve me (even a to-go order) without a mask on. Meanwhile, he and the girl next to him have CLOTH masks (the equivalent of installing a chain link fence to stop mosquitos) that are resting over their mouth and BELOW their nose... I said good day and left. I will never eat there again. I ended up next door at Potbelly whose policy is "we prefer if you wear a mask, but since it isn't law, please observe social distancing." Hands down this location has the worst service. The past 4 occasions I've come to this location it's been a consistent low standard service. To go orders missing items. Dine-in orders also taken down wrong altogether or the employee simply wasn't paying attention. The person I was dining with had sent an order back to be corrected and it came back wrong a second time. Today I called and was told I would be placed on hold... the employee very obviously didn't realize he never placed me on hold, so over the next 5 minutes of being on hold I overheard the conversations of the employees. At one point I heard an employee mention me still being on hold and another female employee saying "oh too bad, they'll get over it." So I proceeded to wait and eventually hung up as no one ever came back to the live phone call. I called back after hanging up and this time it was obvious they disconnected their phone line or something because now an automated voice message with a prompt to leave a message immediately greets me. Which communicates to me there was no intention of coming back to my phone call while I was on hold, they were hoping I would just hang up if I was on hold long enough. I could be interpreting the situation negatively, but prior experience at this specific location has a consistent theme of poor service, so maybe not. read more

Hands down my favorite burger chain ever! I am from California where burger stands are a big thing and no Burger Has Come Close. I believe it is all in the seasoning and the Egg bun that I choose. Also now they have added brussel sprouts as a side! The burgers are pretty simple, that's why I believe they are successful.
