Hey, hey! For this review, we found ourselves in Columbia, South Carolina. My sister and I were out running errands and decided to grab some lunch. She told me about a burger spot she likes to visit whenever she's in Columbia--one I had never heard of before. And you already know I'm always down for a good burger. When we got there, there were so many options to choose from. She suggested I try the Brussels sprouts. Now don't get me wrong--I love Brussels sprouts--but I had to pause for a second and ask myself if I really wanted Brussels sprouts from a burger spot. I wasn't sure how they'd be... but hey, I'm always willing to try something new. Of course, you know I had to order fries too. I ended up ordering a double burger--I can't remember the exact name, but it came with two patties. I love burgers, but I usually skip tomatoes and onions and keep everything else on. Let me tell you--the food was delicious. Normally, we'd wait until we got home to eat, but not this time. We had more errands to run, so we ate while the food was still hot. The burger was well-cooked, flavorful, and not overly salty. The fries were good, but let me tell you about those Brussels sprouts--they were amazing. They came with a ranch-style dressing and were absolutely on point. I had to order another side because they were that good. Yes, they're a little greasy, but totally worth it. Eight of our ROMEO lunch group were here Tuesday. I've been to this site about three times since it opened but none of our other guys had been. Ever since I had the Mushroom Truffle Smashburger I won't order anything else. Since we've been evaluating burger places lately and our group had never visited her I figured we should give it a try. I recommended the Truffle Mushroom Burger and also getting the Smash Fries over the regular fries. Four of out group had this and every single one thought it was great. One made the comment that this was the best burger he's had. One of us ordered a double Smashburger of some kind and he pretty much had the kitchen sink on it (bacon, lettuce, ketchup, mustard, and maybe cheese). He rated his burger as a 3.0. The other three guys that ordered the basic smash burger rated them higher, but had comments such as it's as good as Top Dawg, etc....but really didn't say too much. They also didn't order the Smash Fries. The restaurant was very clean, floors must've just been mopped. In fact the floors were so slipper my chair almost flew out from under me when I pushed it back. One comment was that the music was too loud. Service was timely. Definitely one of the better burgers to enjoy out of Columbia. Patties are thin and freshly cooked. Perfect balance of good burgers followed by fair pricing. Their menu is fairly diverse with limited edition specials available. They have classic burgers to chicken, side options, kids menu, and milk shakes to choose from. As a first timer, the manager helped me with recommendations. Super nice guy and definitely one of the most helpful managers I've got to interact with at a fast food establishment. I ended up trying out the Jalapeño BBQ bacon Stack smash burger and their classic burger. I got a side of classic fries (they are very thin) and despite wanting to try out their strawberry milkshake, sadly it was sold out. Order turn around time was pretty quick, I waited less than 10 minutes and I was on my way back home. Overall, food was great, customer service matched the food quality. Today I was so excited to try Smash Burger for the first time. What a complete disappointment my boyfriend suggested .I requested a large fry however the amount of fries in the large box was filled up to only 50% of the box . My classic smash burger was very sloppy. The wrapping of the sandwich looked as if it was just thrown in the paper, and not professionally wrapped like other fast food restaurants. I love smashburger and try to come when I'm in town since the one in Atlanta closed down. The salted caramel shake is the best! I hate they stopped giving the cup they mixed it in bc that was like another half cup of a shake lol but I'm sure with covid they don't want people with their mixing cups anymore. There used to be an older man that worked there, took your order and served your food with a smile, always friendly. However now there is an older woman that has taken over who seems to always have a bad attitude. As soon as we walked in during the last visit she didn't greet us but with a scowl said "LUNCH SPECIAL OVER!". Despite her attitude we sat down but the food served was bad... real bad. No meat in the japchae, she snatched my daughter's food bc we said it was made too spicy. Granted these are daily dishes we always get when we eat there, so we know how they are supposed to taste, these are dishes not normally spicy. When we let her know the food was made too spicy this time around she yelled "WHATS WRONG WITH YOUR MIND?!!" And stormed off. We took probably a bite or two of our food and could not finish bc of the taste. We were not rude at all to deserve that treatment. I am disappointed that my daughter could not enjoy her first visit to what used to be our favorite restaurant. Service and taste has gone down since. I just went to Smashburger again and the food was great. I did a carryout through the drive through and when I got home the food was hot (3 miles) and good. I would lie if I said that I wasn't impressed with their store. It was very nice and felt like a hangout spot more than anything else. The food is very VERY costly. But I can't lie and say that it wasn't worth the cost. Unfortunately for me, the day I went I received below average customer service with CSR's taking my order, not assisting when I asked for ideas as a first time customer, and more. If there is one thing that can kill a restaurant experience regardless of fast food or traditional, it's poor customer service. Overall the food was delicious and the setup was cool. These burgers are similar to Burger King burgers to me, just with a little more frills. I got the BLT burger which comes with bacon, lettuce and avocado. It was kind of greasy but still tasty. Decent serving size. The fries are good. Shoestring but a little thicker. For two people to eat, it was 19$. I got water, and we also shared fries. Kind of pricey to me. The restaurant was basically empty and we waited about 5-10 min for our food. I think the burgers are made to order. I probably wouldn't go back on my own, but if a group of people decided they wanted to eat there I wouldn't make a big deal about it. read more

The food here is really good and I've never had a bad experience with it so far. The reason for the 3 stars is because of the wait of the drive thru line. I waited in line for 35 minutes and there's no way to get out of line once you're in it. Every other time I've been here it's been at least a 25 minute wait. Just went here for lunch. Smashburger is probably my favorite hamburger place in Cola, along with their rosemary fries. But this particular Smashburger is definitely lacking in their service. The one on Devine street has it all together, but this one just doesn't compare. I've been here three times since it's opened and have not been impressed two out of the three. It's not the food.....the food is great. It's the service. Today my granddaughter and I walked in at 12:30. There were probably 20 or so people seated in the whole restaurant. There was no cashier at the register to take orders. Three people were making the food and placing it on the counter to be picked up. The one wait person was apparently playing hostess/cashier and waitress. We sat there for about five minutes watching her pick up orders and take them out to the tables. Meanwhile a second group came in behind us and were waiting. I must say she did look over our way and yell out "Hey there". Finally, after she'd waited on all the tables (about four) she came over to take our order. I told her this is the first fast food restaurant I'd ever seen that had the cashier also serving and waiting on tables. She said "Oh, we've had problems with our grill this morning". I don't see how grill problems would force the cashier to waiter on tables. Apparently they need to hire more help or distribute their work force better. Again, food is absolutely great. We ordered the truffle mushroom burger and fries with a drink. Order took a bit long to get to the table..probably because of the reduced help...as our waiter/cashier was now taking orders....so another one of the ladies behind the bar now delivered our order over and apologized for the slowness of the order. I think I'm done with this site. I'll just drive the extra distance to the Devine Street site where they've been doing it right for quite some time. I met up with a friend of mine and my mom to have lunch. We waited at the counter for a few minutes before we were greeted and helped. The workers saw us come in but no one was at the counter. The place was empty aside from 2 patrons seated and waiting on their orders. We ordered two mushroom burger combos and an avocado club black bean burger. They food tasted amazing! Just as expected. My friend I met there noticed the length of the nails on the girl taking our order while we were eating. They were waaaay too long, but luckily she was at the counter and not in the back making our food. My food came with no avocado. So I asked to just bring me avocado and I incorporated it into my burger myself. (The avocado was why I decided t come eat here). We were served as to go orders. Assuming covid protocol. The signage posted stated the workers would make our drinks but we were handed cups and fixed our own drinks. This location has a drive thru. As we were leaving. My mom and friend noted the guy the window servicing those orders has on sandals instead of closed toe shoes. So I think I'll take a better look at the hygiene and safety of the staff the next time I decide to check out this place. read more

Whether there's one car or six in line, the drive thru will take at least 30 minutes. The service is off and on. As a reviewer, I usually hate leaving bad reviews, but this one I'm sure I'll enjoy this one. This location should be shut down immediately, if they're not already in the process of doing so. When one walks into a new establishment, one expects a few things. Cleanliness, good food and stellar customer service; dress to impress the public. What we walked into was far less. Empty tables with trash on them, ketchup and mustard stained floors and straw wrappers all over. We trudged along. We ordered anyways. About 10 min later, we got 3 out of the 4 burgers we ordered. After a bite of my extremely greasy burger, I noticed that it was incorrect. No biggie, so when the 4th burger arrived, I simply sent mine off to get fixed. My wife then notices her turkey burger looking quite sad, covered in a mustard/mayo sauce which was quite disgusting. I look over to my 2 daughters and see a look of disgust as well. As I pan back to my wife, she's just attempting to stifle down her first bite, which she fails to do......spitting it into a napkin. Realizing that this meal isn't going to work out for us, my wife goes to retrieve our $48 we spent here and go to dine elsewhere. We throw the burgers away, and the lady at the register hands my wife $10.10. It was at this point that I knew it was best to keep my distance and let her handle it. "Our meal was $48.20," my wife says to the smashburger rep. "For one burger?" she replies..... "Ummm...No, for the full order!"...... Well, I could continue on like this, but I just don't feel like putting this much energy into such a crummy place. Turns out, they can't refund more than $10 without regional/general manager approval. My wife insists, and they get him/her on the phone. After 15 min of arguing, my wife returns to the car with our $48 and change, shaking in anger. So, to summarize here.....terrible food, terrible customer service and filthy restaurant.
