I do actually like the food. In fact the smash fries are great! What's so frustrating is they have never once gotten my order correct and it's alway worst when you order online. Like if you are staring at them they'll get closer but still not what's on your receipt. Most recently we ordered a PB milkshake add Oreos. We got a PB milkshake with no Oreos and when I brought it back and showed the receipt we got annoyed/rude looks from both the cashier and person making milkshakes. I love Smashburger and have eaten at this location many times. Sadly, the service at this location has gotten worse. Today I waited for my order and watched an employee who was working on orders taking drinks from his personal drink, eating fries off the counter that fell from orders, and stack ketchup packets like a little log cabin around the straw on his personal drink - gross. None of the workers were masked and the gross kid was leading the unprofessional, joke around energy at the front. Several of the workers were doing well, but overall, yuck. I asked to talk to the manager several times, but they didn't come out. Tried to call and leave a message or talk to them, but the phone number wasn't working. Update: Smashburger management and I emailed and they said they would address the issues. They were very nice. read more

Extremely unimpressed. The new menu seems more limited than the old one. I still got what I wanted on my hamburger which is good. The double hamburger I got was good and tasted great. The smash tots are great. The chicken sandwich we got was a little tough but eatable. The regular tots were also very good. The massive problem here is that we got 1 double hamburger 1 Smash Tots 1 chicken sandwich 1 regular tots 1 large drink and 1 small drink. The cost for us just for 2 people was over $30. The prices are ridiculous the food is normal and nothing special. The hamburgers and chicken sandwiches are even somewhat under sized when compared with other hamburger places. I could go to any other fast food place and get this order for $15 or less. Not going back for several years if ever probably not. read more

The food is usually always really great- but the "customer service" was severely lacking tonight- 7:30 on July 16th. Our "Host" was a young teenage male who welcomed us by not even looking at us while taking our order, muttered our order back to us, incorrectly spelled our name on our order ( making it a different name altogether) and generally appeared bothered that we were standing in front of him placing an order. Now, generally I'd let that go but he happened to be the 4th "customer service" person I encountered today who seemed to have NO CLUE what that actually is! I write this review from bed, recovering from violently vomiting on 3rd Avenue a few hours after eating a burger from here. I originally wasn't sure if my throwing up was from this burger, and my boyfriend adamantly claimed that if it was food poisoning, he also would have gotten sick. Surprise! A few hours later, he did as well. Bye bye lunch. Both of us ate different burgers, so we don't believe it was a specific one that caused the food poisoning but rather the meat on the bun. I ordered the mushroom burger with Swiss cheese, and my boyfriend got the Alaskan Kenai burger. Thanks for the introduction to food poisoning. Now I won't ever have to wonder what it feels like. Went here twice recently, the last time was last Sunday. We decided to buy the 4 $25 gift cards at Costco for $80 (such a great buy!), and each time, we've not used up a whole card to feed the two of us. So basically, I just said - you can feed 2 for less than $20 in Anchorage! WHAT???!!! Yes, it's a myth that prices in Anchorage have to be the way they are, due to us being in Alaska. An article on ADN recently came out on how the doctors here charge outrageous amounts, for no real reason, but just because they can. The same goes for restaurants. Anyway, on to the food. My husband got the chicken buffalo and blue cheese burger with a side of veggie frites, and I got the regular sized Alaskan Kenai and added tomato and lettuce. I got a regular sweet potato fries to go with it. We shared a large fountain drink. BTW - I LOVE that they have Honest cold tea options here - we got the decaf one, which was great! So, we waited in quite a long line - to the door when we walked in, but it moved really fast, and we were ordering within 5 minutes. This was way faster than the last time we were here, which is to be expected at a good business - you learn how to become more efficient. Then, after we ordered, we saw the place was packed and sat outside. We thought that it would be a while until we got our food. NOPE! We got it about 5 mintues later! My burger was perfect. The bacon here is always crispy (awesome), I love their haystack onions, and since you can build the burger anyway you want, I appreciated the ability to have fresh lettuce and tomato on my burger. If you find there isn't enough sauce on your burger, just ask them for a side of whatever you want. I always get a side of mayo to make "fry sauce" (ketchup and mayo). I asked for the side when my food was being delivered, and the server was really friendly and eager to please, and she immediately got it for me. My sweet potato fries were crisp and yummy. Last time we got a large Smash fries, and were jipped on the amount of fries we got, but this time I got the regular size sweet potato fries and got more than last time ordering a large, so I assume the new employees are now better adjusted to the crowds to get the orders right. My husband's chicken buffalo and blue cheese burger was yummy, as well! I usually am not a fan of blue cheese, but on this burger, it did not taste as sharp as it normally does to me. His veggie frites were also good - I liked the green beans the best, and it came with ranch to dip them in. I really love that they have outdoor seating. I take advantage of this anytime possible, and even though it was obviously too cold for others to enjoy (we were the only ones out there), we had on light jackets and it was actually quite nice. I wish more places in Anchorage had outdoor seating (or would USE their outdoor seating!). Overall, this is an incredible deal, and now I think these are the best burgers in town, especially since I can custom make the burgers to my liking. It's definitely one of the few reasonably priced establishments in town. It's so popular, I'm obviously not alone in this line of thinking. They already could use at least 2 more locations, and they'd all still be busy. read more

Very disappointed with those guys. They keep messing up my orders. It's either they didn't put the right sauce in my burger or they forgot to add cheese to my burger. Today was the worst. I came into the restaurant and ordered to go. I ordered the avocado beef burger and the crispy chicken burger, but they got my entire order wrong. Instead, I got one of those vegetarian burgers, which was gross, and the avocado burger but with the wrong meat. I didn't even know they messed up my order until I got home. Those guys need to figure why they keep messing up because it's either they don't know how to read or they don't understand English. After today, I'm never going back there. YUM! I am so glad Smashburger came to town! My husband and I decided to check this place out for lunch today because we could. There was a line, which was to be expected with a new restaurant. The staff was kind and knowledgeable, plus also very patient. I had a Mushroom Swiss Chicken sandwich with haystack onion rings on the side as well as a butterfinger shake. The food took about 15 to 20 minutes to come out, but with a line like they had I didn't expect it to be quick. Holy moly it was totally worth the wait! The sandwich was perfectly sized, wasn't too big to where I had to cut it in half to eat it. I am so glad we tried this joint and I forsee many happy guests in the future! read more

If I come back it would be for them. I should give Smashburger another chance to see if the fried vegetables is any good. I love having an alternative to fried potatoes and onions.
