Food Cart

Smash That Burger is a food cart located in the Fremont Brewing courtyard. For some reason they take online orders only - there's no ordering in person. I guess one advantage the online system confers is that it gives an estimated time window for the food to be complete. My food arrived right in the middle of it. Oklahoma Smash ($10.50) - The two patties, both smaller 3oz portions, are smashed and griddled until a caramelized and rich beefy flavor develops. They aren't cooked long enough and aren't thin enough to develop those extremely thin and lacy edges, but have more than enough char to satisfy. The patties aren't salted too heavily, so they have a nice balance to bring out all the natural beef flavors. Thinly sliced onions are placed in between the patties - smashed inside, and also caramelized. It gives a really pleasing slightly sweet, very oniony flavor that goes so well with the beef. This combination of flavors should be way more popular - I'm surprised it's managed to mostly stay in Oklahoma all this time! On top is a creamy mix of cheese and burger sauce. It's rich and brings plenty of fatty moisture, with only a couple of pickles on top to help balance things out. The burger is constructed such that the flavors all meld together and nothing falls out while eating. (4/5) Spicy Fries ($6) - These are simply crinkle cut fries, deep fried until crisp, and then tossed in a salty seasoning salt mixture. I wouldn't really consider it spicy at all. There's not much else to say, it's just a well executed commercial fry. (4/5) Smash That Burger is a nice place to get a good smashburger. I do find their hours kind of strange, given that they only open at 1PM which is just a bit too late for lunch. Bathrooms - Available in the brewery

Smash that burger is a food truck located within Fremont Brewing. The burgers here are delicious! Definitely my favorite smash burger in Seattle. I absolutely love the sauce and onions. On a sunny day, seating is limited at Fremont brewing so be prepared to share a table and make friends.

Order online and pick up from the food truck. Pretty damned good smash burgers! Love the crispy jalapeños. Dudes are cool and I'm in a brewery. Does it rain every day in Seattle?

Would Smash :D Delicious. Smashed burgers but the whole thing stacks up well with the toppings so the burger is huge and filling. I had a little trouble ordering with different QR codes found online vs in person but it worked out as a nice day to eat outside. I only wish I had time to grab a drink at the attached brewery and savor a bit more. So far this is my top smash burger in the area. Fries were unreal too with a nice spice to them.

On the hunt for best burger in Seattle and this one is at the top of my list so far.. I already liked their classic smash burger, but the new Jalapeño smash is CRAZY good!! The service is very fast and you order through your phone, it is right next to Fremont Brewing as well if you wanted to grab a beer for the wait!

Thank you Zoey the sandwich girl. Had to come get a smash burger. 10/10!! A food truck located inside Fremont Brewery. The double smash, they all come double. With onions, cheese and smashed to perfection. You can get a single smash upon request and order. But why? Absolutely satisfying for a burger craving. Order on the QR code and they'll text you when it's ready. The regular fries were quite salty. And I'm a salty lady. But I loved it! Generously made with salt and pepper. Super hot and fresh. No complaints about it. Ambiance? It's a brewery. Plenty of seats available. Do it! Drink beer and eat good food. Parking in Fremont is a pain in the ass, let's be real. But fortunately there is a lot directly across the street. Not free, but it's ok. Worth it. To have a beer and burger. Cheers!! SYOY!!

The food is always so good. I've had the Oklahoma smash, their jalapeño burger, and my favorite are the smash fries. The workers have been kind most of the time. There was one that seemed overwhelmed and told me 'just wait for the text. ' I received no text and waited a while after the line had disappeared. I recommend not waiting for the text but lingering near their pick up window 5min before estimated wait time. I like having a drink from Fremont brewery while waiting for my meal. Heaters are on outside on cold days. Dog friendly :)

A new contender for best burger in Seattle! We dropped into the brewery on a Tuesday night and the smell of grilling onions wafting from the cart was enough to entice us to stay for dinner. We got one oklahoma and one pb&j. The online ordering system was easy and our food was ready in about 10 minutes, just enough time to grab a beer and settle in. The bun was wonderfully squishy and soft, complimenting the onion and patty and sauce on the oklahoma. The pb&j was a fun twist as well, I think I'm still partial to the pb and mayo version as the jam was a hair overpowering at times, I wish there was an option to sub in mayo there, but it was a fun and novel thing to try. Definitely will be returning!

Nice flavor, very tender, and good size for the price, though they had run out of fries. Would come back again, but be aware that it's a bit messy to eat

Oklahoma burger in the Fremont Brewery outdoor patio

My partner and I went to Smash That Burger at the Fremont Brewery beer garden on a sunny Saturday afternoon. It was crowded in the outdoor patio and there was a long line to order our beers. Smash That Burger requires you to place your order via a QR code that's posted on the side of their food truck. We ordered two Oklahoma smash burgers and a side of fries. We waited about 10 minutes for our burgers, which was okay because we were still in line for our beer! The double thin patties were seasoned well with a slight char on the edges. The burger came with thinly sliced onions, melted American cheese, pickles and their sauce on a soft bun. The flavors worked so well together to give you a tasty bite each time. The French fries were crisp and seasoned, and came in hot straight out of the fryer! The Oklahoma burger was delicious and it is the best smash burger that I've tasted. Combine the burger and fries with one Fremont Brewery's Pilsner and you have one heck of a meal in beautiful setting! We would definitely come back, but I think we would ride our bikes instead. Parking is challenging in and around the neighborhood.

I've been hesitant to lean into the smash burger craze. They've been getting more hype as a super food than sweet potatoes back in '08. Or when quinoa first made it into your Buddha Bowl in the early aughts. Alas, give me two hazy crispy bois from Fremont Brewing and I'm a weak man. The meat wafts had finally made their way to my olfactory system and I found myself walking like a zombie to the truck in order to decode their menu. I got the normal smash burger, and the saucy loaded fries. I was so excited that at this point I was having burger daydreams. When I was gifted the food, I was pleasantly surprised by the presence of heft. I was in for a voluminous meal, and I was fired up. I ripped the fries open first, and couldn't believe my eyes. Behold - French fry Nirvana. You know when you get brownie batter ice cream and there are HUGE chunks of brownie in it? This is the savory version. Massive chunks of smash burger, jalapeños, regular pickles, fried pickles, and some sort of mayo based sauce. These are a must order. You will not regret it. Now I will say that I'm partial to an unsmashed burger. While everyone has zagged into the thin patty realm, I'm always down for a juicy big hoss of a burg. But these two smashed patties had a crispiness that keeps you coming back. They just nailed it on all fronts. Bun selection was on point with a fluffy pillow that prevented what seemed like inevitable burger leakage. Melty cheese blended everything together nicely. And the onions brought it over the top. Do yourself a favor and get one next time you're at Fremont Brewing.

Smash That Burger is known for the Oklahoma style smash burger and it's more like inspired by it than a true to definition Oklahoma smash burger due to the onions. The origin of the burgers were to stretch the burger patty with the onions but here I didn't get a whole lot of onion. Typically there's a lot more since it's being pressed into the patty before cooking to still have that onion texture. The burger also had too much sauce for my taste so maybe it covered it up too. The loaded fries are so loaded, it's basically a burger but instead of buns it's on a pile of fries. The fries are so wonderfully seasoned. It has all the fixings. Located inside for Fremont brewery as a food truck. Quick service even though it was a busy weekend.

I lived in LA, which has a vibrant smash burger scene. I ordered the Oklahoma Smash burger, which is characterized by smashing onions into the patty, and it was a stupid good burger. This burger for sure holds its own with any in Los Angeles, and it's probably the best burger I've had in seattle yet. It's the takeout window inside of Fremont brewing, and it's informal and quick service. My food was ready within 5 minutes. Pretty great, enjoy with an IPA.

There was no garlic at all, but what I did get was a pretty large appetizer that did its job and more. The main dish, the hotstone beef bibimbap, was a lot worse. Firstly, this came with ground beef rather than the beef slices I was expecting. The rice at the bottom was dry like it should be in a clay pot, but lacking really any of that slightly-burnt, hard qualities that makes a clay pot rice what it is. It just tasted dry. But the ground beef was probably the worst part. It was dry, lacking in really any seasoning, and the portion was tiny. I'd finished the beef with still half the bowl remaining. This was not a bibimbap I would come back to at all. Overall, there are way too many better places in the international district for me to ever recommend this. 5/10

The oysters were the main draw for me, and they were totally worth the visit. Old Stove serves them with a savory watermelon sauce in addition to a traditional cocktail sauce--eaten together, it's a flavor explosion that I can't quite describe. We also enjoyed the garlic everything fries, which were delicious! We just had to try a flight to sample the brews. There are some really good beers available here, especially the Belgian blonde, citra pale ale, and the stout. I did not really care for the seasonal sour (grapefruit, I think)--to me, it just tasted like a sour and nothing more, but someone with more interest in sour beers would probably enjoy it just fine. Despite the busy night, our server checked on us regularly and was very personable, stopping to chat with us about the local sports scene. There's plenty to look at, inside and out. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll get to enjoy the waterfront. Inside, the decor is industrial but fun. Not sure if this runs all the time, but when we were there, the tvs were playing vintage beer ads, which was quite fun. They also sell some pretty good t-shirt designs. Overall, Old Stove Brewing is the perfect combo of good location, good food, and good beer. Definitely recommend a visit when in the Pike Place area!

We also got a round of beers. Or in my case I got their hard seltzer, which wasn't too bad, I would probably just get a light beer next time. Service was great outside! It's not my favorite Hawaiian by any stretch, but it definitely does the job for visitors to the food hall. Since the seating can be a little limited at lunch time, the first challenge is just simply finding a spot to sit. Avoiding the peak lunch hour is recommended, but this probably be better if traveling in a group. When in doubt, take it to-go. Teriyaki chicken ($14) is one of their most popular dishes and an obvious nod to Seattle's thriving scene. Their katsu loco moco ($16) is hearty with the gravy, but sometimes a bit too heavy with the green onions. Personally, I'm a fan of the kalua pork ($13.50) and the spam and eggs ($11.50), but the garlic shrimp ($18) was a bit lackluster. They also serve burgers, which are actually a bit underrated. Their double cheeseburger ($11) features nice size patties with a goop of American cheese. The musubi is nearly $4 each, but are also mini-bricks of spam and rice. Lastly, it doesn't take much to realize the prices might feel a bit high here. They're even higher on the website, which i would recommend using for most folks, but recently I noticed various selections are listed for hundreds of dollars each. Unless this is a catering order, it's just another example of another oversight. ____________ (#1) Uwajimaya is dope: https://www.yelp.com/biz/uwajimaya-seattle
