I had many bad haircut experiences, some stylists will refuse to cut my hair to what I want because…read more"It's wrong" for me to have short hair. My last salon visit in December the stylist was nice, but nearly snipped my ear off multiple times, which really set off my phobia with sharp objects. Needless to say, I stopped cutting my hair for a while because I was very fearful of judgmental stylists and the prospect of losing an ear. It is now August and my hair was getting way too long for my comfort, so I did some research and decided to pay 333 Salon a visit! Since I wanted a short haircut, I scheduled a wash & cut appointment with Michael through 333 Salon's website, it was very quick, easy, and their menu with estimated appointment lengths were all made available. I really appreciate when businesses have an option for online booking. When I entered the salon on the day of my appointment I was greeted by Kathleen, who was very kind! Kathleen and Michael checked in with me and asked if I wanted to switch stylists since Kathleen specializes with longer hair, which is a very kind gesture. However, I have to turn it down though since I wanted significantly shorter hair using clippers. The salon itself was very clean and tidy, and the music is not very loud. When it was time for my haircut, I showed Michael some photos for inspiration. He asked a lot of questions to make sure I would end up with a haircut that I would be happy with, which is something that previous stylists have never done for me. I really do appreciate the questions, it shows that he really does care, and it helps me figure out how to convey what I want my hair to end up like if I ever have to see someone else. For the duration of my appointment, Michael showed extreme care and attention to cutting my hair, and I'm so happy that I did not have to worry about losing an ear today. The appointment ended up being nearly an hour long (my hair was really dense, which I was not aware of, I'm so sorry if you're reading this!!) I was extremely happy with the end result, I haven't been this happy with a haircut experience since 2020 when I was all the way in Las Vegas. Michael even offered to fix or touch up anything for free if I notice anything later. I paid with my card & tipped in cash (they accept cash tips only) then I was on my way. Anyway, my TL;DR: Michael and Kathleen are both very kind and experienced stylists. I had an appointment with Michael because I wanted short hair, and he was very careful and attentive! I had a really positive visit, and I will be recommending 333 Salon to anyone who needs a judgement-free and safe haircut experience!

I tried to trust the process because I figured he's been doing hair long enough and he charges high enough to know what he's doing but it doesn't really seem like there's much thought to how he cuts hair, he just cuts it. I asked for something close to a bob and he told me my hair wasn't far off from that and instead of cutting it level while slightly laying the sides and back he cuts the whole entire back at an angle and gave me almost a pixie cut with long strands in the front/a karen cut. There's absolutely no way he thinks it turned out good, i'm sure he was just trying to convince me it looked okay so i wouldn't be upset and i'd pay him full price. Now i'm going to have to waste 3 months waiting for it to grow out to a decent length.

(I have thin hair). I used to go to Will Charles Salon on Newbury Street and dramatically over pay for a cut that was inferior to Michael's. I moved to Somerville and had tried a few other places (and had horrifying experiences). I am so happy to have found my "place". Also, post COVID everything is still pristinely clean, everyone is in masks, clients wait in their cars and are called when to come in to avoid unnecessary co-mingling. Really an excellent spot both pre and post pandemic.
