One of my friends told me a while back that she tried to schedule an appt with a "Jenny something" in RR, but couldn't because Jenny was booked 3 months out. In my skeptical mind, I was like she can't be that good only because I don't put that much effort into my hair and was never going to wait 3 months for an appt. Well, recently I was contacted by a Jenny T for a macaron order via IG. When I was reading the message from Jenny requesting the order, I happened to be over at that friend's house for dinner, and honestly, blurted out "does anyone know a Jenny T?" My friend immediately said, that's who I tried to make an appt with!! And guess what, I was in desparate need of a redo of my hair color. I colored my hair for the first time ever a few months ago, and it did not go well, I was disappointed and stuck with a color I never wanted! I've been procastinating the redo because I didn't have faith in anyone getting the color I wanted originally. I took a leap of faith and asked Jenny whether she can fix my hair and if by any chance, she is availabe before my wedding date in May. She scheduled me in 3 weeks later after I asked. She took care of my hair for 3.5 hrs, cleaned up the mess (I should say blended it in), got really close to what I wanted with a foilyage. Note that what I wanted couldn't be achieved on the first or second try because my hair is really dark to begin with. I wanted to go really light ashy gray. But I do love the color she did for my hair, my hair now has personality. My friends loved it when I sent them the photos. They have been asking me when I was going to redo the previous disaster. If you are going to drop this much money on your hair, do it with someone talented who cares about the quality of her/his work.

I booked an appointment here for the first time and chose a Top Stylist because I wanted to make…read moresure I was in good hands. Before starting, the stylist and I spent about 5-10 minutes discussing exactly what I wanted, as well as the texture of my hair. My hair is naturally very curly and frizzy, and I explained that I wanted long layers and face-framing pieces while keeping the majority of my length. I specifically told her that I don't typically style my hair, so I needed the layers to remain long enough for me to wear my hair naturally and for the overall length to stay past my shoulders. She seemed to completely understand what I was asking for and agreed with me. Once she started cutting, I noticed that she was taking significantly more length off than I had expected. I tried to stay calm throughout the appointment, but I did express my concern and said, "Wow, it's really short." At that point, I was honestly in shock. She tried to reassure me by saying that maybe I just wasn't used to seeing myself with shorter hair, but I knew that wasn't what I had asked for. We had specifically discussed keeping my length and doing long layers, yet I left with my hair much shorter than I wanted and with noticeably choppier layers. I did reach out to a manager afterward, and I want to acknowledge that they were very professional and completely refunded me for the service, which I appreciated. I'm writing this review because I was told the situation was essentially due to miscommunication and that I should have brought in a reference photo. While I understand that photos can certainly be helpful, I personally don't feel that a reference photo should be necessary when you spend 5-10 minutes clearly communicating with a professional stylist about the length and type of haircut you want. The stylist, Tatiana, was very kind, and this review is not meant to attack her personally. I'm simply very confused about how a conversation about keeping my length, having long layers, and wearing my hair naturally resulted in my hair being cut significantly shorter with choppier layers. My biggest takeaway from this experience is that if you are getting even a simple trim or long layers, bring a reference photo--even if you feel like you've clearly explained what you want. I would hate for someone else to have the same experience I did. I shared photos of what my hair looked like before and what it looks like now.

She asked me questions to make sure I knew what it would take to style a haircut like that every day, and she was confident that she could give me exactly what I wanted. From the moment I got there, I was instantly comfortable opening up and having easy conversation, something that I generally feel awkward doing. An hour is a long time to spend with someone you just met, but I seriously feel like I just made a friend. Regarding the actual cut, I told her I only wanted an inch off the ends, and she started to do just that when she suggested taking off a little more just to give my hair a healthier look. I appreciated her insight, and allowed her to do so. She was very efficient with the actual cutting, so she spent the rest of the time drying it and styling it with a straightener. She showed me how to create waves using a straightening iron, something I've yet to master, and I can't wait to try it myself. Oh, something else I thought I was funny and is worth mentioning: she dropped at least three combs while cutting my hair, and each time she dropped one she pulled out a fresh clean one instead of picking it up off the floor. Her workspace was very neat and clean. Before I left, she summarized what all she did, showed me the difference in my shortest layer and longest layer, and asked if I was good with that. I said yes, thanked her for being thorough and being a good listener (doing what I wanted instead of doing whatever hairstyle is *in* right now). I'd recommend her to anybody, and she's easily earned my business.
