this business pretty much stole my money that I should have never given them in the first place. I left with a botched haircut and the first thing the owner said to me when i told her i left the salon in tears was "i won't give you a refund." Over and over this woman, Kerry, reiterated that to me and was the farthest thing from sympathetic or kind about the situation, even though the stylist acknowledged that she messed it up. The stylist was kind and seemed to know what she was doing for the most part, it's truly the owner i have a problem with. She keeps offering to "fix" it, but my hair is already over 2 inches shorter than i wanted because she cut it, it was so choppy so she had to cut everything AGAIN to make it all the same length. McKenna is absolutely amazing! I became a new client here this summer after salons were allowed to open back up. I really liked my last stylist but scheduling was always an issue so I figured this was a good opportunity to try a new salon. The salon decor is so beautiful, simple and chic. I've met the owner and she's so nice! Everyone just makes you feel at home. I have seen McKenna both times I've been in and I have to say, she might be the most talented stylist I've ever used, especially with color! (And I went to some pretty high end salons in the San Francisco area when I lived there) She's so personable and really makes an effort to get to know you. I always feel like I'm just visiting with a friend. I brought my 9 year old daughter to see her for a haircut and McKenna did an amazing job with her as well. My husband started seeing McKenna for his cuts and color since I raved so much about her and he says he never wants anyone else to color his hair again! He's very picky so that's a huge compliment. We will be so sad when we move to Michigan this summer. I might have to schedule a few flights a year just to come back to see her for my hair! read more

The first time I came here I made an appointment with Brea. Without talking to me, the appointment time I made was changed and I was only notified via email. I called to have the appointment time changed back to the original time I selected which was after I got off work. When I asked why it was changed she told me it was because I was her last appointment of the day and didn't want to wait around. Totally understand, but it was a weekday and I selected that time because she had listed it as available and that was when I got off work. Appointment day came and went, haircut was fine, salon was clean. I figured I would go back because it's only ten minutes from my house, relatively affordable and the haircut was fine. I made my second appointment online a week ago and sure enough my time was changed again. Exact same as before, I got an email saying my time was changed. Once again no phone call or texting asking me if I could change, just an email saying that my appointment time changed, and again to a time while I was at work when I scheduled the appointment for when I got off work. I thought the first time was maybe just a fluke but Brea did the exact same thing again and I'm done. I think that is incredibly poor customer service. I would have been happy to change the day/time if I received a phone call or text asking if I had other availability but nope, changed without any discussion and I was informed via email. Just terrible customer service. Both times, I booked my appointment with her according to her availability, and both times she has changed my times without talking to me. I choose those times (4pm and 4:30pm) for my appointment because it was when I wasn't working. Not going here again because besides Brea's poor customer service, I don't trust a salon that allows their hairstylist to do this. Save yourself the time and frustration and just go to another salon, even if that means you have to go to Austin or Georgetown. read more

Though I was able to get the black out, my hair that had taken years to grow out was severely damaged and I had to cut most of it off. Paid $78 including tip for a blow out that was not an actual blow out. The stylist washed and rough dried my hair and then curled my hair with a flat iron. It's been 1 hour and my hair does not look like I even received a blow out. There's no volume and one side of my hair completely fell and is just limp and sad looking. I was HIGHLY disappointed before even stepping foot into this salon as a first time client. I made an appointment for Saturday, 8/3 at 10:30 with Maria. At 9:10 that morning, I received a call from the salon letting me know "something came up with the stylist" and they asked if I would be ok rescheduling for the next day at 3:30 with Shalene. Even though this was odd to me and a little frustrating, I agreed to change it. Sunday afternoon about an hour before my appointment, I got another call from the salon. This time, she was letting me know Shalene was running behind and asked if it was ok to push my appointment back to 4:00. At that point, I asked the lady on the phone to just cancel my appointment. I had seen a few reviews on Yelp with similar stories and did not want to play this game. As long as I have been getting my hair done, I have never had a stylist reschedule my appointment on their terms. I know things do come up so I went with it but then when I received the 2nd call about pushing the already-rescheduled appointment back, I did not want to continue to be frustrated with the poor experience. If their timeliness (or lack thereof) and customer service is any indication of the hair services they provide, I would look elsewhere. read more

Beware: $500 and 5 hours of time for a dye job that has to be corrected elsewhere. My appointment scheduled at the Round Rock location on 8/31 was supposed to be for a color and cut. During the appointment, the stylist was nice and the experience seemed as though it was all going well. The stylist bleached, dyed, and cut my hair for 5 hours. After the senior stylist blow-dried and curled my hair for photos, nothing appeared to be any different than what I had expected. However, when I returned home and after a couple of washes, more and more friends and family began to comment on areas that seemed to have been missed. Sure enough, as you can see in the attached photos, the result is nothing near what I expected it to be with a considerable amount of missed areas that are prevalent enough that I'm unable to hide them. After deliberating what to do, I made a call to the salon to try and resolve this mishap. When I asked for the manager, I was immediately shocked by the response of the person who answered the phone stating that "you do have the manager". I explained the situation as stated above to which she replied "well, what was it supposed to be? A bayalage? Why did you wait so long if you noticed problems or were dissatisfied?" My response was simply that it had taken a few days to notice spots that were in the back of my hair and, after washing and comparing my hair to the requested example as well as commentary from friends that there was something amiss with the color and cut. Not to mention that I am not one to call and complain, especially to anyone who works in the service industry. The manager responded that there was nothing that they could do since it had been more than 11 days (it was the 12th day exactly). I spent nearly $500 and 5 hours of my time and they seemingly couldn't be bothered with my request for reparations. read more

A random Friday morning I had to be up early to pick up a rental car in Round Rock. I have been desperate to get my hair re-highLighted because the roots got majorly grown out. I googled a top Star salon in Round Rock and stumbled upon Brushed Roots. It was very close, down the street from where I was anyway. I walked in before 11am and one other stylist helped me decide to schedule with them. She offered me an appointment on that same day at 1:30pm. I couldn't believe it, I've experienced others always being two weeks out and I was off work today. So it was ideal. I knew what I wanted to have done with my hair but I was hoping they could execute it. I left to run errands and grab breakfast. 45 minutes later I received a text to come in by 1pm they weren't needing the extra time with their last client. I came back at 12:45pm and went directly to Lisa's chair! She played with my hair and talked with me for ten minutes to make sure we both knew exactly what I wanted and if it was possible. She left to mix up some color and came back we got started immediately. Two hours later and I got the exact highlight I wanted. It was different, fresh, and beautiful. Lisa was easy to get along with and shared personal stories along the way. She was very professional, polite and confident. Lisa does know a lot about makeup application and extensions if you're needing those services! I would recommend her for both; she was wearing extensions and told me how they're done. I've never had extensions but I admit it looked fun. I was her last client of the day but also learned she had been working late for the last few days and was eager to get home to her family but let me tell you she didn't rush or make me feel pressured or uncomfortable because she stayed for me - a new walk-in client on a Friday! Hey all! So, I found this place thanks to my fellow yelpers. I was looking for a place with good reviews for hair coloring near round rock and Brushed Roots sorted near the top. Pros: decent hair job, wonderfully nice staff, great equipment, awesome decor, good music. Cons: hair color/look wasn't quite what I requested (but it didn't come out bad), I am pretty sure I was way overcharged (and for the wrong services), and my stylist wasn't well suited for curly hair (not all stylists are and I didn't request this up front, so truly more on me than the salon, but sharing this info for my fellow curlies). Overall, I would definitely recommend this place to my straight haired gal pals looking for some full highlights or balayage. My only advice is to review the look you want in depth and ensure you and the stylist are lock step on the pricing as you go through the process. read more

Booked appointment originally online to get my hair processed and then spoke with someone on the phone the day before my appointment to push the time back an hour. I am under the impression that my hair can still get done. I arrive for my appointment and talked with Nina who I booked with and she immediately let me know that my hair would take at least 4 hours and I only was booked for one. She offered to do a strand test on my hair and thankfully I asked when I could book my correct appointment and she said at least a month and that I would have to wear the strand test until the appointment time. She offered to do a treatment on my hair with no cost notice and the strand test. I am extremely put off and declined to do either and just to leave as I don't live close to the salon. DONT BOOK APPOINTMENTS ONLINE. She made it seem like a booking error and that there is nothing that can be done I would have to re book. I have gone to this salon many many time to see another stylist who is no longer there but I loved the salon so I thought I'd go back to see a different stylist. She made the comment that I seemed frustrated and that she was too. She could see I was visibly upset and offered nothing to try and correct the mistake. The owner was never on time for any of my appointments , she was never consistent in my color and every time I got a hair cut from her I had to go back the next day because it was an uneven cut after the 3rd cut I tried someone new at the salon and that stylist was 45,min late for my appointment they had to call her and tell her about the appointment..I dont know if it was a receptionist problem or just not professional but that money they charge I expect quality and professionlism.
