I had an appointment for my grandson at 10 a.m. on 8/5/2021 at the Walmart in Turnersville N.J. When we arrived the only person working there told me that my grandson did not have an appointment. I was standing next to the appointment book and clearly saw his name. When I pointed his name out to her she said that the stylist didn't show up that day. Would it have been too much trouble to call me ahead of time and let me know? Apparently it was. There are too many other Salons in Southern New Jersey to waste my time at Smart Styles anywhere. I always come here to get my haircut and I've always had good experiences. I went in on Saturday for a haircut. I showed a picture of the haircut I wanted to my stylist Mary, she said that she could do it, no problem. I was so nervous to cut it really short, but she told me that I was in good hands and that the haircut will look nice on me. Through the process she was really nice and kept asking me if I was ok. When she was done, I looked in the mirror and it looked so amazing, she did a great job. I was so happy. I will totally go back with her again for a haircut. Pricilla has a great eye and technique. I came in for a hair cut & have medium long length; she was able to wash and cut my hair with beautiful layers getting me in and out in within 10 min from start to finish. Super efficient and while I wish I could have spent more time in her chair (having my hair done feels like a real treat) I can't complain because the results are fantastic and sure beats paying triple the price at a salon. read more

I have hair that is difficult to cut and style without it standing on end. I have visited many different hair cutting places where the stylists think they know what my hair will do if cut too short better than I do. Unfortunately, a stylist that does not listen results in a less-than-desireable haircut, and an unhappy customer. This is NOT the case here. The stylists pay attention to what you want, and listen when you explain what issues you have. If a customer clearly explains their needs, they can get a great cut with exceptional service. I am very satisfied every time i step out of this salon with a clean haircut. Priscilla is the best. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. I am beyond disappointed and disgusted with this place. Starting with PRISCILLA. I have my SPECIAL NEEDS cousin whom we brought in to get a haircut along with 3 other of us. Mind you we've been here multiple times. They did not want to cut my cousins hair because Priscilla began to say she had lice which was not true - she had dry scalp and had to get a treatment as we always do. Priscilla was beyond rude and very discriminative towards my cousin which was evident to everyone . Not only did my aunt, the mother of my cousin leave that place in tears but also they made all the other costumers feel uncomfortable. Special needs is common and it's unfortunate people like this make our children feel worthless and unwelcome. I am so upset and highly advise anyone who is considering coming here to approach with caution and to spend your money at establishments that respect and appreciate their clientele. read more

If you could give ZERO stars that's what they need!!! TERRIBLE job on both my mom and aunts hair seriously they have short hair but really uneven cut. I know that in school the practice barbies come with even better cuts than what they got. LONG hair strands everywhere where it was "cut". They got home and cut each others hair to just even it out. I told them they just need to go to an "experienced" hair cutting place cause this one must be a low end school or something to allow people to walk out with terrible cuts and worse part it was 2 different stylist who cut their hair. I can see taking an hour on LONG hair but come on short hair doesn't take that long to cut and to cut it right no less. BUYER BEWARE go to a different place where there are actually "smart" styles given! read more

I went to Walmart last night on the way out I saw this salon and thought I'd get my kids a haircut since it was there and they were in need of one . From the moment we stopped in the lady had major attitude said she they were still open for another hour . I'm just looking at my husband because I was trying not to open my mouth . She asks for their names to put in the computer looking like someone pissed in her mouth and I'm just looking and my husband says let's go . Tells her never mind that's ok and she looks in disbelief like she just typed in all that stuff for nothing . I don't know what her name was but she had brown hair a little past her shoulder . Hopefully she sees , this NO ONE wants some salty old lady cutting their hair like it's mandatory . If you don't like your job or people then find another one . If you're having a bad day don't take it out on the world you can still be a decent human being ! read more

I always go and look for Pricilla never let anybody else touch your hair, she is good understanding what you want and what my kids want, both my boys are very happy with her, when they come and bring a picture of what they want she always takes the time to explain why that style will work or not for them but, they always come out happy with the results. I have been getting my hair done here for a couple of months now.The staff is always friendly and willing to answer any questions. Many people have the misconception that this is just like a supercuts chain, but it's really a full service salon! You get a great haircut &shampoo for $15.99! My husband & two boys just love the way Gretchen cuts their hair, it's perfect every time! I have a tricky style and the two ladies Eli& Monica who have cut my hair, did a great job as well!! Monica is amazing. She does a mean gentleman's cut and makes it look super sharp! It's possible that she did mess up a kids hair, but at the same time people do mess up. Monica has always done a fine job and I recommend her above anyone, at least for a gentleman's cut. read more

I had an unbelievable bad experience. The stylist Jenny was so aggressive and verbally abusive. She roughed up my kids during the hair cut and couldn't stop swearing in front of the kids. I arrived at 7:15 to their shop which closes at 8 pm. She agreed to take both my boys in. Then after 30 min and while cutting my first son's hair she start becoming visibly frustrated and angry for unclear reasons to me. She became increasingly impatient and rude when she started cutting my second son's hair. She flatly refused to use scissors as I requested and she used the trimmer against my wishes. She was roughing up my little kid and aggressively adjusting his head position. It was obvious that she was taking out her unjustified frustration on my son who I thought was terrified at this point. She said that I should be thankful that she is wasting her time cutting my son's hair. She told me that I should have come earlier. At the cashier she started arguing with me about the price of my oldest son's haircut. She accused me of lying about his true age in order to save a few dollars. She said and I quote " I am not doing this shit for free and it is not a charity". I insisted that she take a look at my son's health card to confirm that he was 10 years old but she repeatedly refused to look at the health card. She threatened to call the police if I do not pay At this point my kids started to cry. She then called a woman who she claimed was her manager. This manager in turn told me to stop talking and that she did not want to hear the story. She said that she will charge me the price of a kid's haircut this time. So the manger herself was apparently no better than her worker. It was a surreal experience to say the least. Totally unacceptable and unbelievable. I have never seen or heard anything like this in my life. I could not help but wonder if her unruly behaviour was based on discriminatory reasons as I wear a headscarf. read more
